Yeah, I'm glad my first exposure to this game was on the 360. Way more complete compared to whatever the hell decision making was done to the ps2/wii versions. They didn't need to change the versions so drastically to fit it on those systems, all they had to do was lower the resolution on textures and such and I'm sure the game would of ran fine on them.

Completely agree. Especially when games like Spider-man 3 (which was bad to begin with) actually turned out somewhat decent in the Wii/PS2 versions, while doing the same thing.

Not to mention, the playstation 2 literally ran a mmo if you had final fantasy 11, hard drive disc space for the size of it, and a connection to the internet with it. And final fantasy 11 was HUGE, way bigger than Sonic Unleashed and more prettier in some places of the game too. So the 360/PS3 version of the game definitely could of been on the ps2 version at least. @@ShadyPst

That would not have been possible. The engine is designed for PS3 level hardware.

@@bigcade554Yes. Not only that, but the sheer number of assets required to render the level, along with particle effects, its way too demanding for the EE & GS. The Wii is just a beefier version of the GameCube, as well.

@@ShadyPstdoubt a ps2 or Wii could handle all the content from ps360 and run it decently. The HD versions themselves struggle at times.

I prefer this port (or preferably the Wii port since it looks, controls and runs better) to the Xbox360/PS3 version in a lot of ways.
The day stages have a wider view so you can more easily see what's going on and they're more fun to replay and master since they don't have bullshit deaths, half-assed platforming, frame rate problems and very specific conditions to S-Rank.
The night stages also benefit from being shorter and while the combat in the HD versions is more complex, the enemies go down faster without having to wait for upgrades later in the game.
The HUD world is terrible in both versions but at least in PS2/Wii port is way faster to get through.
That's not to say that I dislike the HD version but it could really benefit from a PC port with fixed framerate and some further tweaks.
Hopefully the 2024 Sonic game SEGA has planned is Unleashed Ultimate and they won't screw it up like the Colors port.

This game truly blows the HD version out of the water, its not even funny. No idiotic medal collecting, no plane levels, no constantly having to talk to professor pickle just to progress, they actually had the foreseight to split the werehog into mutliple acts, the final boss isnt a tedious mess. And of course, this take on the boost is so much more interesting, actually forcing you to think about meter management, actions chains, real 3D gameplay, and when you want to use and save the boost. Dimps really got on their shit and showed Sonic Team how much they fucked up with their Unleashed.
