    Hey man ... This worked on my 1994 F150 the Steering wheel was locked an couldn't get the key to turn, I've been messing with it for a full day until i found your video ... thank you so much bud .... your a genius

    I tried to drill it but I ended up breaking a bit and it was pretty hard. I ended up picking the lock and getting it to turn so it all worked out anyway. Excellent video too! I think my lock was a little different, I didn't see the side bar on mine after I got it out. I have to swap out my Subaru ignition next before the key quits working all together. It looks like basically the same procedure with the pin. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks! I'd all but given up on my Pontiac, but I think this'll work. I'm going to try it tomorrow afternoon.
    With any luck, it'll be on the road again soon.
    The stealership wants way more than the car is worth to fix what appears to be a VERY common problem in the Grand Am.

    Thanks for viewing my channel, Coy. That breakage happens, from time to time, on those models. But, a long pair of tweesers should be the right tool, when used, to remove that piece from the rear of the cylinder.

    Thanks for watching my channel. Yes, you can start your vehicle. It's a bit tricky, because of the metal piece that's covered by that green (or orange) plastic piece at the base of your ignition (inside of cylinder). But, it can be done.
    Thanks again,

    Your '98 E250 uses the Ford 8-cut system. It's a bit different, but can be carefully removed, when there is no key that can be made, using the appropriate tools.

  • @willm837
    @willm837  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for viewing my channel. You've asked a very important question, especially since most Fords from 1996 to current use the Ford 8-cut system. The "best" way to remove your ignition is with a key. If your ignition and doors used the same key; a locksmith can generate a working key for your ignition (8-cut), using the door lock (6-cut). They will know how to obtain the 2 extra cuts.
    Thanks again,
    Will

  • @willm837
    @willm837  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @vittoriofelice Thanks for viewing my channel. Your local Locksmith can cut a new key for the door lock cylinder, and match (Recode) a new Ignition lock cylinder, so that the same key works. Better yet, they can remove the broken key from your lock, and make you a completely new key (as long as you have both pieces). Again, thanks for viewing my channel. I hope this helps you.

  • @willm837
    @willm837  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for asking. Please ensure that ALL interferance at the face of the Ignition housing is removed. To provide you with more accurate info; I need to know the year of the vehicle. It's important, because some later models have a different process, required to remove the ignition.
    Thanks again,
    Will

  • @willm837
    @willm837  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for viewing my channel. There is no "key code" on the ignition lock, or any lock cylinder on your ford-type vehicle. A locksmith would use the depth of each tumbler, and determine what is the key code for the vehicle. Thanks again for viewing my channel.
    Regards,
    Will

    I used to steal f250 and f350s back a few years ago when I was a meth addict. There's a cpl way to get that out. U mentioned the slide hammer and that way works amazing. But the quicker way is with a set of vice grips. When u pop that bezel off the tumbler sticks out enough that you can clamp a set of vice grips on and just push and pull hard and she will bust and start the truck. That worked on 99-07 Ford superduty f250 and f350s. I don't know if a slide hammer does damage to the column or of vice grips would cause damage to it either. Whether it just breaks the tumbler or wat. But this took way too long

  • @willm837
    @willm837  14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for watching. Your Tahoe has a different style ignition. This Ford 10-cut removal procedure will not work. If you have a key, your ignition can be removed very easy. If you do not have a key, your ignition is best removed by picking the sidebar until recessed, rotating the ignition to the "start" position, then using the poke hole on top of your ignition housing, depress the retainer and remove the ignition. A new key can be generated at that time or ignition can be replaced.

  • @willm837
    @willm837  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for asking. If I were looking at your situation (personally); If due to exceeding M.A.C. requirements on door lock pos 5 & 6 you are unable to match pos 1 & 2 of the ign.; remove the tumblers in positions 1 & 2 on the ignition, and make cuts 7,8,9 & 10 (ign) to complete the key for your existing locks. Buying a "pre-coded" ignition won't always allow you to match up the existing door key, unless the ign is missing pos 1 & 2.

    I need to do this replacement on a 93 mercury sable which looks to have the same design. Right now I just need to unlock the steering wheel so i can load it onto a trailer. Will drilling out the ignition and turning the key to the on position unlock the steering wheel? thank you!

    @DjScPulse Locksmith rates vary from State to State. I would definitely recommend a Locksmith do the job. However, I would not try to tell the Locksmith how to do the do, unless they ask. Locksmiths take lots of pride in their ability to perform. But, it may have to be extracted by drilling.

    Toyota Corolla 98. Oh sorry, the problem i had i had was that the key position was not all the way in the Acc. position, and i thought the pin was pushing in (but it was not). I manage to put key in Acc. position (after many attempts), and immediately felt the pin push in all the way. and replaced the cylinder (Yesss). Well, out of curiosity, lets say that i would not have been able to put the key in accessory, what would have been the approach to take cylinder out

    I ended up picking the lock and I put an aftermarket ignition lock in it. We just found the old keys the other day and I tried to take my keys down and have them cut the other part of the key to match my door but it didn't work. They said that the door and the ignition share the 5th notch. What do you suggest I do? Should I take out my ignition out and have it re-keyed to match the old key so I can use it to open the door locks too? It's a 92 Ford Taurus. Any suggestion would be great. Thank you

    @DjScPulse Your Tahoe has a different style ignition. This Ford procedure will not work. If you do not have a key, your ignition should be picked to "ON", then (using the poke hole on top of the housing) depress the retainer and remove the ignition. Other methods may activate your "Vehicle Theft Detterent" system (VTD). Need more info, just let me know. Thanks for watching.

    I must have done something wrong and then wrong again and again and again... LOL Yes, I have snapped atlas 4 bits - A couple smalls and then went bigger with the same result. Now I have a mess. I was able to turn it with force using a screw driver in the key hole and a pair of visegrips for leverage. It doesn't turn easily nor does it turn on any power or start the vehicle. I'm working on a 1992 E350 turned C-class that the key has gone missing on during its 7 month parking. Any ideas as to what I should try next? Drill out the actual key hole?
