🤷🏽♂️ back in my day, all ford iggies were sidebar. Now these new guys jump in to the frey with their war-stories and have no idea of the struggles we had. I once had a F150 where every door was different and nothing matched the column. The iggy was even pulled and swapped at one point so NASTF wasnt even an option 🤷🏽♂️

I was able to pick the ford e450 ignition without any tool. I applied tension to the plastic outline that you pulled out in this video and used a pick. Took around 15 minutes, but succeeded
I did an old f150 last week no keys the ignition had been changed. I copied his door key popped the ears off. Put that four key in and turned it on with a channel lock pliers. Total time for removal 2 minutes maybe.
Personally, I would try to Use the picks to turn to On, then Remove, as opposed to jumping right at Removing the Face and Drilling. Meathod you show, appears to have 100% Success.
And good luck on ur method. I can tell ur a rookie. Sidebar locks vs picks? That would be like gambling. I prefer guaranteed routes to success. This videoed method and urs, I would never use in the field.
I use a sharp flat chisel to remove that bottom tab that no one or anyone will ever see again. Then I slide an old pick u see and through to tension said side bar and use a pick key. Leave no more damage than the drill way. I wasn't trying to offend you. Just trying to keep the $$ in the locksmiths pocket.

i ended up having to replace a 2001 ford f350 ignition yesterday because someone stole customers truck, they found it with the locks broken- the ignition could not fit anything into it, i didn't drill tho- didnt know i could..i just took a flat head screw driver and some vise grips and turned it really hard to ACC then pushed a pick into the release underneath and it popped out and snew ignition in. Easier than drilling in my opinion--lol i hate drilling
hi I have an old 89 ford e250... its a beater but it's all I got.. I lost the keys on a bicycle ride the other day... ford says they won't help me... they can only access key codes back 10 years which is total BS! ... That tool have there looks like a life saver to me at this time?? could you tell me the price and where to get it .. or if it would even work on my vehicle? thanks
Let me elaborate since youre clearly speaking without an understanding: Side bar ignition wafers are all the same size. Its the cut out on the side of the wafers, that dictate their depth heights. So, sight-reading is immediately out of the picture (pun intended) Also, since its a side bar, it cant be tensioned via … wait for it, TENSION. SO A LISHI IS OUT OF THE PICTURE. Tank you come again.

Do it. Because these have sidebars and u have to tension them, some how. Perhaps you'll tell me that u use vice grips?

Call a local locksmith. These kind of tools aren’t usually sold to non locksmiths or tradesman

89 Ford F150 has a 10 cut key system, this truck has the eight cut System. Arrow Lock makes a tryout key system to generate a key from scratch

Also the ignition lock had been replaced. Door & ignition were separate bitting.

No. Wafers bind into side bar and are measured differently than non side bar locks
AA Locksmiths and there’s a cut system you have two different types of locks the huf. Locks. And non-huf locks, Strat tech I think,

The cap is easily made. The cap puller is little more than a modified wiper arm puller.
