I think the guide is really good for new players. If you want to go even further with your boomkin mastery I suggest reading starlord and ur 3 dot damage increase. Essentially we get more damage with 3 dots on a target but in pve we get the 3rd dot from starfire or wrath but only when they crit (starfire aoe applies the dot so you can maintain it on aoe targets as well). So hopefully u crit on ur first 2 to enter eclipse but if u dont just always make sure you maintain that before you're using big abilities like stars urge or full moon if you're using it. 2nd mechanic is starlord. Essentially with starlord the buff doesn't refresh once you get the initial buff so try to build a mountain of Astral power in ur eclipse while fishing for the 3rd dot for overall damage increase. (Try not to over cap ur ap) but essentially you don't want to spam starsurge at every opportunity. You wanna maintain 3 stacks of starlord as long and get to it as fast as possible. So again I'm not doing a good job of explaining but it looks like go into first eclipse for fight > dot > build ap to close to full >Double starfall or starsurge depending on st or aoe, immediately build for a 3rd one to use it immediately to get full 3 stacks of starlord > at 3 stacks maintain ur rotation and dots etc. Next make sure you're still using either Starfall or starsurge so you don't over cap but watch when the 3 stacks of starlord falls off to try to build ur "mountain of ap" then so when it falls off you can have instant 2 starfall/starsurges off to immediately get 2 starlord then get ur 3rd one asap thru ur normal rotation. Sounds hard, and I explained it poorly but essentislly just maintain starlord and don't be afraid to build ur mountain of ap so u can stay at 3 stacks of it as long and as quick as you can.
This was such a helpful comment! I know what the spell does but didn't know the name for it and was so confused when people just mentioned it without explaining what it is. (Yes, I do read my talents but names don't stick in my brain)
Yeah this was so useful like others have mentioned. This was actually a really good and easy guide, unlike others who say "easy guide" but don't explain what anything means or why its used.

but i'm a bit confused by other guides and you might be able to clear that up if you'd be nice enough to do so
just started out learning moonkin so its a lot to understand but if I'm not mistaken in other guides, in regards to single target damage, they are basically saying when no Incarnation is around the corner and you cant push yourself to Solar Eclipse with the 3 instant Starfires CD (forgot the name) you still want to spam wrath so that would trigger lunar eclipse and even in lunar eclipse you'd continue spamming wrath?
Is that right? or should I reread more carefully? :D

update: seems like spamming wrath during lunar eclipse is the way to go as entering/exiting eclipses is a big boost in dmg

cool guide. but it could be better if u would explain more in rotation part! for example how to start and things to do first in a single target fight and a aoe fight, like does it make any diff if we put sunfire and moonfire on our targets out of eclipse or it doesn't matter if we're in and out of eclipse. same thing for using starsurge and starfall. 😇
That’s a very fair critique - sunfire & moonfire can be done at the start before your eclipse. But inside eclipse is also fine. (Just ensure they both never drop off).
Because starfall & starsurge are astral spenders you’ll generally already be in an eclipse but if it happens to end as you’re about to spend them, you don’t necessarily need to re-enter the eclipse before casting those spenders.

Yeah, because bear form gives better “survivability” if you’re doing a soak or something in a raid it’s extremely common to use bear with barkskin for double protection. You can immediately go back to boomie once the “danger” has passed. Ofc if u cba with all that barkskin alone is also fine! 😁

So say youre in a boss fight and you start off with two Starfalls to get into Solar Eclipse, and pump out Wrath and Starsurge accordingly.. Once the eclipse ends can you then fire off two more Starfalls to get back into solar eclipse? Or do you have to go into Lunar Eclipse before you can get back into Solar?
You can immediately go back into solar, so if its ST like you’ve said, you should NEVER go into a lunar one (unless its using elunes chosen CD because it gives you both).

so far I am! I actually just got back into WoW yesterday after missing all of season 2, so I have a lot of catching up to do, talent swapping, addon updating haha. But I tried the treants in some timewalking (so I can relearn my rotation and test stuff out) and they seem fun! I've heard they're great as an "oh crap" button. Very much looking forward to using them in relative content and actual mythic keys!

So I've been playing boomie for a couple of days and sometimes I don't notice my eclipse is ending and continue casting wrath or starfire and get into the wrong eclipse. Does anyone have a tip on how to prevwnr this? Also if i go solar eclipse in aoe, can I ancel the buff and cast 2 wraths to get into lunar eclipse fast?
I don't believe it's possible with macros... (I could be wrong). I would say use the weakaura in my description which really helped me with the same issue. Overall you just have to be really attentive of it.

May i ask does Lunar empower our starfall ?
both lunar and solar empower your starfall and starsurge and moons and furey of elune because they are astral damage (both nature and arcane)
I just started lvling bal as a pretty noob wow player and ive noticed i never get to use lunar eclipse in dungeons lol by the time i use wrath twice all but 1 or 2 of the mobs are dead if not all. Makes me think while lvling to just spam starfire. Idk lol.
Oh yeah this will happen on most classes while levelling, it actually kinda makes the levelling experience a bit boring unfortunately. This will completely change at Mythic at level 70
