  • Ingredients for the Chiffon Cake:
    8 egg yolks
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    60 g. ube halaya
    2&1/2 cups cake flour
    2&1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    3/4 cup milk
    1/8 tsp purple food coloring
    2 tsp. ube flavoring
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    8 egg whites
    3/4 cup granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp cream of tartar
    For the Whipped Cream Filling :
    1 cup heavy cream
    2 tbsp granulated sugar
    1/2 to 1 tsp. ube flavoring
    60 g. ube halaya
    Swiss Meringue Butter Cream:
    4 egg whites
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp salt
    339 g. unsalted butter, softened
    2 tsp ube flavoring
    1/2 cup macapuno strings
    165℃ for 30~35 minutes

    I made some lemon brownies on my channel and I made an icing out of the Okinawan Purple Sweet potato. I didn't want to add any confectioners sugar, but I added just a little bit. It was a creamy and beautiful purple! All of your cakes look so delicious!

    Thank you for this recipe! Made it for our church anniversary and it was a hit! I am making this again for a friend's engagement party, but ill be covering it with a marshmallow fondant. Hope it'll turn out good with the fondant. Thank you again. This is a delicious recipe.

      My comments might be late by now but i hope with chiffon cake covered with fondant i hope it did work fine.base on my experience stable cake is work better with fondant as the fondant hast weight while chiffon is a very airy and unstable cake which is not so ideal for covering fondant.

      @@nessyk.9015 youre correct. Chiffon cake is not ideal for fondant because its too light and fondant is a little bit heavy. Its base on my experience. Thanks

      @@nessyk.9015 I came back here to refresh my mind of this cake because this recipe became my go to recipe for Ube Cake orders. I was double checking what Christine used as a frosting. It's the same as my swiss buttercream. She just cut it in half. By the way, when making a chiffon cake that needs to be covered by fondant, it needs a support. I usually put straws so the cake won't collapse. I've been making this cake because a lot of my Filipino friends loves this recipe. Even their American spouses loves this cake. I wish I can send you pictures of the cakes I made with this recipe. Take care.

      Because she did drop the butter already before the egg white come to its stiff peak thats why it curdle but through countinous mixing it still come/mixed together.

    What kind of item did you use to clean up the frosting around the bottom of the cake and then also used it to put strips on the side of the cake frosting?? Also where do you buy the macapuno strings??

      I used kitchen paper to clean and the scraper I bought it in Daiso 100¥ shop here in Japan. The macapuno you can buy it in Asian store or Philippine store and Amazon. I am using a macapuno made by the owner of the Philippine store here in Japan. Thanks for watching!

      Swiss meringue buttercream can last up to 2 days at room temperature . Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks . Freeze for up to 1 month. Thank you for watching.

      I'm using NECO food coloring powder type. You can buy this in Asian store. You can use any purple food coloring .

      Pwede, konti lang kahit 40g para hindi matigas ang cake . Sa filling no problem kahit damihan mo ang ube halaya. pa konti - konti lang ang pag lagay para makuha mo ang gusto mo na consistency. Thanks for watching!

    What is cake flour ? All purpose flour pwede po ba substitute?

      Cake flour is usually used in cakes. pag wala kang cake flour , 1c all-purpose flour minus 2tbsp then add 2tbsp of cornstarch. cake flour na yan . Thanks for watching !

      Pwede mo I-fix , dagdagan mo ng whipping cream at haluin ng mabuti at daghan-daghan . Pag medyo malambot at runny i- beat mo using a hand whisk hanggang ma achieve mo ang gusto mo na consistency.

    FORGOTTEN INSTRUCTION: Grease the baking pans lightly with oil and line with parchment papers.
    *The cake looks good btw. 😉👍

      If you bake chiffon cake you dont need to greese the sides of the pan otherwise the sides turn very brown or worse the chiffon cake will diflate.

      Siguro sa brand ng macapuno na nabili mo or sa ginamit mo na ube flavoring or food coloring na nag react ang mga ingredients dahil sa content ng mga ingredients na ginagamit natin .

    Has anyone tried recipe? Wondering how the ube flavor taste like in cake...never had it. Would like to try but if taste isn't tasty, don't want to waste all the ingredients. ..thanks

      I havent tried her recipe but i did bake ube cake and cupcake,the ube flavor has very subtle flavor,in order to achieve the ube taste feeling you have to add more of the flavoring to achieve more of the ube taste flavor that you like.you wouldn't know until you will not try ☺
