    Unlike GoXLR and GoXLR Mini, BEACN Mix and Mix Crate DON'T have XLR input, which means in order to use XLR microphone like Shure SM7B you need to have an audio interface first. I use Elgato Wave XLR to connect my SM7B. BEACN's own microphone is a USB microphone.

      Thanks for clarifying - I've not used the BEACN devices yet, so it's useful to know! I should have mentioned this in the vid, like I did with the Loupedeck / Stream Deck+

    TC Helicon should open-source their driver code since they aren't supporting their GoXLR product anymore. Honestly this should be a law in all governments worldwide. If your company isn't operational anymore or you remove a team that supports the stability and maintenance of your software/hardware product, you're required to open source your code.

    Dude, the latest Windows update for the GoXLR and GoXLR mini app was back in 2021 and 2022 for the audio driver. I purchased the GoXLR mini just over a month ago using the 2021 app and it works fine. Your video was posted 6 months ago; how could you predict it will stop working in a year or two given the latest update in the software when you posted this video the latest update in the software was already 1+ years old? I guess time will tell. Even so, disappointing that TC Helicon ditched the software support. Good thing there is a open source solution. In any case, thank you for the video.

      You have to take into account that Microsoft has a massive tendency to just randomly brake, or completely change things. Yes, the GO-XLR may still work for another year or two, but then they will fuck something up making it straight up not usable. It happened many times in the past. Another thing you have to take into account is that Microsoft probably won't push out Win12 for a long time still, but there are a lot of rumours about a massive update, that very well may brake a lot of things designed for Win11. We will see what the future holds, but for such an expensive piece of technology, I would feel really uncomfortable buying it knowing it won't receive any future updates or major fixes. It only takes one update on the OS side, and you're done for.

    Hey man great vid, I currently have GoXLr but was thinking of an upgrade anyways, I have my eyes on Rodecaster pro duo but I need it to do the same as GoXLr which is being able to record my game, mic, discord and let’s say music all on separate tracks. Rode replied to me that it’s possible with their Asio drivers and OBS Asio plug-ins so here is my request to you and I think this could have been probably best video for you to make explaining in depth to muppets like myself on how to get that setup. Please make a video like that 🙏🥹

    • @MachineDaena
      @MachineDaena  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure you're not a muppet mate!
      I've asked Rode to send me some gear, and if they do, I'll be creating some content around them for sure!
      As always, the popular vids then get more airtime, so if those vids get popular, I'll also create some more set up vids too!
      Thanks for watching bruh and best of luck!

  • @ShaneT5S

    I’m gonna be honest, I liked for what the Go XLR has done with the ability to control separate audio sources, and split them into different channels for OBS, but I hated how messing with EQ destroyed my mic’s quality, even after going back to factory default, and then the noise gate sounds terrible when people start yelling in videos, and I can immediately tell they’re using a GoXLR because of their compression

    This is very sad news to come across in my feed today. :,D I don’t really like upgrading my stuff that much (just get something good that will last me for years and I’m at peace). Had my XLR for a while now and I love it to bits! I do not want to say goodbye to it, especially as it works perfectly for me. (Not to mention I really don’t have extra money at the moment to just spend. I saved up for what I have now, and there are other products I really want to invest in.)

    • @MachineDaena
      @MachineDaena  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear this! It shouldn’t be “buy expensive, by twice”
      Maybe someone will acquire them. I’m secretly hoping Elgato will acquire the brand and reinvigorate them.

    • @EndlesslyNoc
      @EndlesslyNoc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The device will continue to function as intended no need to upgrade. The only thing that is changing is no more updates. But there is a team that is working on custom software.

    • @MasterOshawott
      @MasterOshawott ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EndlesslyNoc I’m aware as I watched the whole video. It’s a concern for future longevity of the device however. (Especially with future windows updates or if the volunteers don’t continue to work on it.) I’m not super worried, though I’m keeping an eye on the news.

    I don't think there's a device on the market that does the sampling on the fly like the Goxlr does. Correct me if I'm wrong. There's plenty of devices with audio level control and effects, but I can't see any that do the sampling, which is why most streamers go for it. Has anyone else found one??

    • @MachineDaena
      @MachineDaena  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends if you mean sampling on demand or pre-programming sampling but I know there are a few devices out there; Roland BridgeCast, some of the Rode devices, Stream Deck+ etc

    so in the future my goxlr wont work? I think it would be cool if elgato would pick up the goxlr and they could rerelease updates for it, and sell it.

    I was looking at the GoXLR, and I'm not seeing an alternative that does everything the GoXLR does. It's a shame coz the brave part of me says go and buy it, but the uncertain future is an issue.

    Claiming it won't work anymore in 6 months or a year is stretching it a bit. I got printer drivers installed that were written for windows XP back in 2005. Should they still work? No. Do they still work? Yes.
    It all comes down to how many breaking changes windows will get in the parts of the OS that GoXLR software interacts with. And given for how long the audio drivers have been a mess on windows, I don't really see any breaking changes there soon. It could be a month or 15 years till it stops working, nobody knows.

    • @MachineDaena
      @MachineDaena  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have empirical evidence showing that it’s likely to be 6-12 months.
      More frequently than every 12 months, I get big spikes in certain GoXLR video views. The simple reason is because windows releases updates which break the GoXLR.
      The windows updates won’t stop. The support to help people resolve this, or update GoXLR software, will stop.
      You having a printer that works for 15 years is irrelevant to an audio mixer.

    • @grizeldiSLO
      @grizeldiSLO ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MachineDaena Interesting, thanks for the insight. We'll see how it goes.
      I mostly have experience from the professional audio gear space, but you can regularily find 20+ years old mixers being used with no problems whatsoever. However, none of those rely on software as much as GoXLR does (or at all), so it's hard to say what the case is here.

    i heard that the rodecaster does not have a routing table... thats very important even gaming off stream ,,, everyone in discord hears all your audio coming out of your pc and thats a big no no ,,,, please confirm if rode added a routing table to the rodecaster as i am also in the market for a rodecaster ....

      rodecaster 2 has routing table, but it's lacking on virtual channels, like the goxlr has.
