Hi Cindy, I'm surprised you haven't seen this process before, there are quite a few videos out there showing how to do it! I just wanted to show how I do it. There's more cleaning and polishing to come in the next video! enjoy your weekend! hugs xx
Thank you so much for doing this video! I have watched a couple of vids on oxidizing before and yours seems to make it so much easier to comprehend! I feel more confident to give it a try now! so thanks again!😁🤩😍
Excellent demonstration Linda...I'm going to try and purchase that tumbler. Your jewelry turned out beautifully! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.😉
Thank you Lauretta, although I have changed a few things in my process of late, so I will do an updated video soon! I got my tumbler on Ebay and it was only around $50AUD which would be around $40US, so not very expensive at all! I love mine, gives the finished jewellery such a fantastic shine and gets rid of all the burs! Which is great for chains!👍❤
Linda Good morning from CA...I have a few questions before purchasing. Do you use LOS before or after placing in the tumbler? Also, if you do before, doesn't the shot remove the LOS patina? Excited to purchase and try! 😃. Thanks for your guidance!
@@laurettabratti6638 Good morning to you Lauretta! Funny you should ask this question, I usually use the LOS before tumbling and yes it does remove the patina but only on the raised surfaces not the recessed parts! Which is where you want it to stay to give that vintage look! Now why I said "usually" is because I am going to experiment a little with applying the LOS after tumbling, then tumbling again! I'm actually going to try a few experiments with oxidisation! We'll see how it turns out!! I am always thinking of new things to play around with LOL Here's my email if you want to send me pics, ask questions or just stay in touch! lindacorrell.61@gmail.com can't wait to see some pics!? 😁
@@GumnutLaneJewellery yes, of course! Happy to send you photos. I'm currently working on a LONG chain using the balled links you taught me. I just received my chips earlier this week and plan to make the earrings. I was making links all day long and assembling. I'm very interested to see/know your LOS experiment turns out. I always believed that tumbling work hardened your piece. I would do that first, and then add the LOS, buff out areas and then finish with several coats of Everbtite. Well, many thanks for your email. Feel free to reach out to me as well! 😉✌️. Time to go make dinner. Take care!
@@laurettabratti6638 yes tumbling does help to work harden your work, but it should in most circumstances be the last and final step in the whole process. If your pieces are prepared correctly eg. oxidised, cleaned, scratches removed etc. Then you tumble to remove burs and slight blemishes and to achive a high shine polished look! hope this makes sense and helps!?
This was very helpful. Thank you. Can't wait for the next on polishing. I assume glass beads can't survive the tumbler? Oh and I hope you explain what you use to seal the metal after polishing, please. I am not happy with my product.
Hi Sharen, I'm so glad you found this helpful! Yes glass can survive the tumbler! So far I haven't found a bead that can't! I will let you know if I find one that doesn't. What product are you using ATM for sealing? take care Linda
@@sharenreyes7324 Oh dear, I hope it wasn't expensive? I haven't tried an acrylic spray before, but I have used a crystal clear spray on varnish and that seemed to work ok! The brand is Arbee from an Aussie co. out of Victoria! they have a website arbee.com.au I am using Protectclear ATM it's expensive but it works well! hope this helps!
Hey Peggy, before I got my tumbler, I used to sit and file the rough ends for hours! (I know, right!) I didn't realise that you can buy a tumbler for around $75 AUD which would be roughly about $60USD. It was worth every cent!!! I love it and don't know how I managed before getting one!Have a wonderful weekend!😊
Thank you for showing your process. Very nice demonstration, Linda. You are a jewelry guru 😊💐😊
Oh Cindy, you flatter me!🙄 glad you liked the demo! take care friend xx
Wow and a Big Thank You I have never seen the process of oxidizing jewelry and polishing You did another great class on both. Thank you

@@GumnutLaneJewellery I forget the name of one I was using that turned to a solid mess in the bottle. I have also tried clear acrylic spray.

Wat about the stones while tumbling?
Hi Astrid, so far I haven't had any problems with the stones while tumbling them!
