I like this generation TL last week was on TH-cam watching a funny Carfax commercial a very old commercial it was a man driving backwards in a 90s Acura TL his voice and mannerism reminded so much of you got such a great personality.
I just bought one, but mine is a 2000 TL, I i was stunned how clean the thing was, clearly a garage kept car, had almost 95K miles and 30 service reports on carfax. I just love the car. I came to this video just to learn about these cars. Mine looks different inside, there is a Navigator screen where your climate control is, and there is something called Stargard under the steering wheel, I am trying to find out what that thing is. I am hoping for this car to last me awhile.
Tranny is def a failure. Bought for 3k at 110k miles and tranny started slipping at 120k (no wonder they sold). 1.4k to fix with new mounts and now I’m at 150k miles no problem though. Hoping to break into 250k club.
@@markfan1576 1.4K sounds like a great deal to fix a tranny problem. I just bout a 2000 TL and I love it so much I would pay that to keep it going for sure.
In modern times these cars are old a’f but for someone on a budget of less then 4k, these are the best used old cars to buy, yeah the transmission tends to be the weak point but that’s usually due too no transmission fluid change, keep the transmission fluid clean and these transmissions can go 300k plus
I only came to these comments because I currently am driving a 2000 TL with 144,000 miles. This car is possibly one of the fastest cars I’ve owned. It's smokes everything especially because it had no traction control and no air bag light on.
how does the auction process work? Looking for a new car and wanted to give the auction a try but the closest near me is online only. Would you recommend it? I see alot of good cars getting sold for pretty cheap
You absolutely must drive and look at them first. I have been burned 90%of the time buying sight unseen. If you want to buy online and something that won’t be broken down. Look up where the GSA cars and trucks are. They are the only cars I will buy sight unseen because they are government owned and they’re all sold to you in good to great condition with no issues. if there is an issue they make an announcement before the auction begins on the car or truck. Then you can go pick it up they also will take credit cards. But GSA only
I love mine only 197 thousand miles with some minor dings on the exterior. Such an amazing car.
Those are fantastic to drive. I actually remember test driving one of those when they were brand new.
Did you buy a little equinox diesel?
@@JoesGoldenGarage Sure did. It's super cool, but I am having an emissions issue with it already. Good thing I bought it CPO!

I love this generation TL (apart from the dang 5AT that always failed), would love to own one but don't want to risk the transmission blowing on me...

I go to utc and there’s a beautiful one parked on campus. My favorite car ever made. They drive beautifully.
It was a great older TL for this generation from Acura.

My 03 has 350000 miles i change the transmission fluid every 15000 miles using acura oem fluid
301600 still og transmission
Great cars, I love this gen.
Hey Joe I watch all your videos! Love your voice and your expertise! Thank you for the content

Look in my list for the blue one i bought a few yrs earlier. Cheap. But an awesome car.
The 2000 TL had TCS, it was introduced in '98.

My 99 does NOT have the air bag light on. It is probably burnt out. 😆
Why does the airbag light come on? My grandma has an 04 accord and the light is on a lot.
Very common on Honda products. Usually a seat sensor. Or seatbelt sensor
@@JoesGoldenGarage Ah, that explains why it goes away sometimes if you mess with the seat power adjustment.
Theres been an open recall on those airbags. Acura will change it for free under recall. Just take it in
Nice car
