    Just picked up a 2003 6 speed type-s CL a few weeks ago, and previously owned a 99 3.0 CL. The CL's are so underated but for me that was part of its appeal. It's a car that not a lot of people would look twice at unless you really know what it is and for those who actually appreciate it, i think it makes it that much cooler. Looking forward to many miles and smiles in my type-s.

      I think they will go up in value in the future. With how many were wrecked or rusted out. The # left has to be way less then the 3500 they made. Some of the 6spd parts like the shifter have sold for $200.

      @@SteffanJohal funny you say that...we did my son's birthday at a park down the road from us. And about an hour in a black 03 CL drove in. I could not help myself to see if it was manual. And sure enough it was. A girl was driving and said the car used to be silver. Crap paint job of course. But I told her the car is going to be worth $ one day. I have a buddy that has a grey one with a comptech supercharger on it. He's the reason I own mine.

    03 CL Type S is the only year and trim for the 6 speed. There are only 3,511 (higher than your thought of 2,700) I am the proud owner of one, with a love for Honda’s/Acura’s, this has to be one of my favorites. The rarest Acura model and so under appreciated.

    Currently own an '01 automatic Type S. Red with a black interior. From the years that I've had it I absolutely love it. It still brings me joy every time I see the car. I store it during the winter as Canadian winters can be quite harsh along with the use of salt and rocks on the road. Haven't had much to do in terms of repair in the last few years aside from the water pump and the transmission, which hadn't been rebuilt for over 120k km. I've owned a 1G CL, totaled it, and now I own a '03 2G CL-S. I love my car to death. Originally bought it with a broken 4th gear, and had a '07 AV6 transmission swapped into it that I had a shop do. This is the car that taught me how to work on cars. After the transmission swap, I started doing my own oil, then my own brakes, then it snowballed to me swapping in a J35A3 with 3 failed attempts, then converting my car to a 6 speed manual. Everything that has been done on my car has been done by me. It's got full bolt ons, and i'm not even done modifying it yet. I love these cars so much, i've learned how to make t shirt designs, and i'm in the process of making a T shirt for the CL-S. I've got the design down, but now I just gotta get the printing figured out, because it's currently too faded.
    I love these cars, and I want to help them get the recognization they deserve.

    I just picked up an 03 CLS 6SPD with only 61k mi from its original owner in FL its whole life.. even came with window sticker of $32k in 2003. NO RUST. and I mean not a single bolt. unfortunately I live in CT and bought this as a fun daily to my R32 skyline so that will change after 1 season. 1st thing I did was install a hybrid racing shifter as the stock unit felt rather loose.. hybrid cable bushings on both ends.. shifter feel is amazing now. looped out the coolant to the throttle body as it super heats the air and kills power. next items will be P2R lower intake runners and P2R thermal intake gasket while im there, to increase flow and decrease heat exchange.. you'd be surprised the amount of power you KEEP by these simple (and cheap) mods.. if you're inclined to do a clutch and lighter/single mass flywheel - it isn't even the same car! throw on a progress rear swaybar and it's a FUN car with reliability to match.?!. what more can you ask for

    I currently own an Acura 1999 CL 3.0. It's amazing! Recently a kid hit me and I need a new passenger side mirror and the panel over the tire replaced. Anyone have suggestions? Is it possible to fix it myself? I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

    • @SteffanJohal
      @SteffanJohal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say it is, check your local junkyards, or sites like marketplace and see if anyone has parts and go from there. If you have a dent in the rear fender it may just need to be banged out and re painted. A mirror you can fix on your own, you can get any colour and paint match it if you can't find the same colour!

    Is 2300 a high price for a 98 2.3L Cl with 201k miles it has everything from water pumps to timing belt and distributor serviced within the last 45k miles but when test driving the transmission was very jerky and I read that’s common problem though do you think I passed a good deal

    • @SteffanJohal
      @SteffanJohal  ปีที่แล้ว

      The first gen cl didn't experience the same transmission issue to my understanding. That could just be an instance of bad tranny oil or that one could happen to be on it way out. But second gen cls with the automatic are the ones that are bad.

    Yes I know what this car is.
    I still have a 2000 3.2 TL purchased new Dec 1999. I traded in my 1994 Accord 5speed for it. I use to be on the old AOL ACURA TL Forums back then. I attended a number of local area TL/CL meets.
    I also drove up from Washington,DC to Maywood NJ Park Ave ACURA had a 2nd annual TL/CL meet. About 100+ cars showed up. Many heavily modified TL/CL the RSX had just come out so that bunch had to crash. They fed us well us very well. Local police came snooping around guys started closing hoods on car. They didn't want police to see what was underneath. The guys mostly came from NJ/NY area I think I came longest distance from DC. One guy I met at another meet but been on forum for several years. He was selling his car ask me did I want to by Comtech Exhaust he had on his TL. I didnt mine is stock with Body Kit Rear Spoiler optional wheels.
    But those guys back then had serious engine modifications.

      @Steffan Johal I'm much older now in my 60s. I don't drive as much the TL only has about 105,000 miles on it at 23yrs old. The first 7yrs of ownership it was constantly on road weekly.
      I also fell victim to the bad transmission issue. It happened in 2008. I was on road and the shift lights started to blink. I limped to my destination 70 miles from home. I checked transmission fluid it smelled burned. I called Acura made appointment. I limped back home 70 miles from sisters house. I called AAA road service towed to ACURA dealership.
      They checked said it was known transmission issue and ACURA had extended the recall warranty I just sqeaked in. So it's has remanfactured transmission.
      They gave me a loaner Acura MDX for over a week. But in 2007 We had purchased a new Honda Ridgeline Pickup Truck in the family. So it was getting all the use. It's 16yrs old with 220,000+ miles.
      I found old post on internet from 2nd Annual TL/CL meet it was June 2nd 2002. I found it on ACURAZINE site.
      East Coast ACURA TL/CL meet. Park Avenue ACURA NJ. So just outside NYC
      It was 466 miles round-trip for me.
      I caught few hours sleep in car at Acura dealership before meet got started.
