I got one while i was on vacation in ny back in November because it only had 82k miles drove it back home 9 hours to North Carolina fast forward to today it has 88k miles running strong!
This was one smooth car. My family had since new and kept for 16 years. In the end the transmission killed it at about 120k miles. Minus the transmission it’s such a high quality car back in the day. So well insulated and such nice leather and interior quality. I’m not even sure that modern Acuras are on this level anymore. It’s shame that the crap transmission was never truly fixed by Acura for this model. If it was this is a car you keep for very long.
I own a 2002 Acura TL. This car provides a very satisfying driving experience that is hard to quantify. It doesn't really excel in any one particular category, but it just does everything well together. I especially love the low dashboard and low sloped down hood line, making visibility excellent. This car is also well planted and very stable at high speeds. I just hope my transmission holds out as this is the Achilles heel of this generation TL.
But yeah, the car itself is a masterpiece. The styling is very tasteful, the handling is amazing, the J-series engine is a gem straight up (the J32A2 in particular, especially in FBO form - it's pretty quick even by modern standards). The brakes and the transmission are not good though.
I had a 2000 acura tl , loved it kept it for about a year , sold it less than a week ago because the transmission kept going out , definitely a love hate relationship
I remember falling in love with this car back in 2005 as a kid. My friends neighbor had a silver Type S, and I thought it was such a nice expensive, classy car. Fast forward to today - I would love to own one. You have a nice car! Enjoy 🍻
The Honda/Acura 5 speed auto is notorious for blowing up around 120-50k miles. I always liked this generation of TL. The TL Type-S of this generation wasn't overly done, or "boy racer" like. I always enjoy still seeing these today.
100% true, I have a 2000 Acura TL 223k luckily original motor and trans. Trans has been slipping since about 180k very minimal but it’s there. I no longer daily her as I bought my 2008 Infiniti g35 but I still have a lot of love for my TL’s
I still have my 2002 Acura TL. The only thing you may have to do is replace transmission if it still has original. That was the only issue with the 99-2003 TL's. Get one from AAMCO or where ever, just make sure it has a warranty. I upgraded clutch packs to a little heavier duty. I got the car in 2004 while in college. I will never get rid of this car. It has never left me on the side of the road. It still has the original alternator. It rides smoother than my newer silverado and of course, will outrun silverado easily. I won't claim it's a race car and try to race a 300z or anything...It's a 4 door car . It will, after some time, make it to 135mph. not bad for a 4 door. My neighbor asked me the other day..." when are you going to get rid of that old thing". I said never. WHy? because when my neighbors newer vehicles have to go to the dealership for repairs, this acura will still be running. LOL. I have changed the oil in the 3.2 v6 about every 5000 miles with full synthetic. Zero issues. Still runs like the day I got it. Engine is basically bullet proof so to say...I would trust this 2002 Acura Engine to drive me across country before I would trust my Cheverolet silverado 5.3 v8 hybrid piece of junk...with the known lifter issues and oil consumption. Even the dang silverado manual says "its normal, especially on longer trips, for the 5.3 v8 chevy to consume oil. All of the new cars are being designed like crap...no different than Boeing plane issues. everything NEW to come is most likely going to be built cheap and will have many faults and issues. The nice big screen tech and radio will take your attention, they hope...away from the cheap parts they made the newer cars with...mark my words. & my 2002 acura will still be going. Sorry. blabbed a little too much..LOL
You literally took me back to high school, wow. Had the same TL, same year, it was silver with a factory spoiler, did a muffler delete, tinted windows, with black interior. Sold it after I finished school I when I moved out of state cause of transmission issues. But everything else, no complaints. My favorite car literally.
Omg, Yesssss this was the last car that i owned and my favorite till this day! I tinted the windows and installed a duck lip spoiler. My dream car is the 5 gen TL.
Anything Honda or Acura are pretty solid made. I have a 2007 Honda Pilot EXL 4WD Nav with the J35 A9 V6 with 244HP and 5 speed automatic at 268,000 miles and it’s still running and driving
I just got one 03 tl of course trans was blown 2to3 was flaring did not shift. I also had misfires in all cylinders. I removed the trans and had it overhauled diagnosed the misfire. Turns out it was cylinder number 3 coil pack that was causing all those codes. Now I drive that thing everywhere is a really good car.
got my 03 TL type s, black inside and out. 250k on engine and body, 150 on trans. Got it at 214k, the trans lasted until 244k. Such a good car it does very well, have had some odd things but its a high mileage car. Do the work and these puppies keep moving
5:55 That's the transmission making that whining noise. The manual version of these cars don't make nearly the same intensity of whine noise while in 1st gear.

to be completely honest i look forward to seeing the older cheaper car reviews more than the expensive new car reviews
I love filming the older cars more too!

Excatly!
The transmission probably won't hold out. I've gone through more of them than I'm willing to admit (or than I can remember).

I own a 2003 Acura TL Type S, drives nicer than my 2018 Toyota Camry. 😂 Don’t see many on the road anymore so I try to keep it well maintained.
Modern Honda and Acura needs to bench mark this car for A/C performance. It is so strong compared to many modern cars
Very smooth and Peppy, we had 01 tl, decade ago
For sure!

my 2000 lexus rx made that same whining noise in first gear, i loved it

Still got mine 297k on the original engine. 2003 TL. Great car! So good I’m restoring it!
That is awesome!

My mom had one of these new back in 2000 gave it to me when I turned 16 in 2016 kept it until it started having issues after its 3rd transmission

Car has good handling with just enough power engine
Plenty of power.
I just bought one today
Congratulations!
Could u do a 98-2002 Pontiac firebird preferably the automatic
That will be hard to find😂
I’m alr knowing 🤦🏽♂️
I think the hp and tq numbers are incorrect in the description 382hp?
Thank you! I'll fix it.
Can you do an E60 M5 and/or a 2010-12 Range Rover?
I'll try to find one!

What kind of suspension does it have double joint suspension or McPherson???
No idea :)
Multi-link at all four corners
Like an R35 GT-R
Double wishbone front and 5 point multilink rear
@@philipjacob2314 it's not really double wishbones up front though, I'd call it a multi-link.
Bro this is literally my car 🤣🤣 never thought I’d see this. 🔥🔥
Glad I could get to film it😎💪
How many miles you running @cashOutTony?
