There is also this scene where Odysseus put his head on Penelopy's lap and she took of his headband, the one he got from Politys'es(is that how you write it?) body as a final sign that he abandons the open arms idea
Canonically, Polites survives until almost the end. He dies by Eurylochus making a bad choice. In Mutiny, he's one of the few men who stood with Odysseus.
Another fact, in the Odessey when they have the wind bag unopened, they are so close to Ithaca that everyone can see them from shore, his mum sees them the moment the bag gets opened and she ends up ending her own life as she thinks her son is dead, which is why she ends up in the underworld

It's actually crazy how damaging the situation really is with the cyclops. We know that he has been with this men throughout the war, 10 years of constantly with these people forging bonds, and during this time he has never experienced loss, never lost a man, never lost family, then he experiences a Very Traumatic Situation with the prophecy. I couldn't even name 7 people I have been with constantly for a decade, nevermind imagine how I would deal with that being my first experience with loss. It is honestly impressive he can think at all during or after that, him lacking some forsight at that point is actually already doing better than expected.

I LOVED watching you two get to know eachother and bond with epic. I started watching Mortius ever since the first epic reaction he did, and so glad to have met Casper as well. I loved to see this journey. I loved you both so much and will continue to see your both of your content, and now together in this channel!
As a bilingual person I do love how Casper goes into Danish at 1.52.55 because I do the same thing, my mom did the same thing. When the language switches you are mad mad
Odysseus never wanted to be in Troy to begin with, though the Trojan War is technically his fault. He suggested the arrangement that lead to every city-state being involved in returning Helen, in exchange for a good word with Penelope's father, leading to their marriage. His first losses EVER occur on the way home. In Epic, Polites is the FIRST man he's lost in his career.
Odysseus pretended to have become insane (not unbelievable because the same thing happened to his father, which is why he inherited the throne at 13) and only stopped pretending when Palamedes threatened to kill Telemachus. During the Trojan war, Odysseus and Diomedes framed Palamedes for treason and he was stoned to death
I'll comment this here and not in the main video because it came to my mind just now. If I remember correctly, the "Lotus Eaters" were described as being wrapped in nature, moss, flowers, because they were so lazy that the plants had the time to grow on them, hence why they look the way they do. Plus, the flower sprouting from their head is the same as the flower of the Lotus, signifying that their mind isn't exactly their own.
3:42:06 Its worth keeping in mind that king in the Greek context basically just mean "Guy who was in charge of a small city and a couple of valleys" that is to say when he was king, he was basically the mayor of a city state. Still in possession of rank and power but he wasn't held up to the same degree as later monarchs who reigned over vast nations.
Elpenor's part in the Odyssey is so funny because he gets drunk off his butt, climbs up onto the roof of Circe's palace to get some fresh air, then misses the ladder on the way down and breaks his neck. Then they completely forget about him until is spirit comes crying to Odysseus in the underworld who's like "Oh shoot I'm sorry, we were in such a hurry we forgot to give you proper burial rites" and they have to rush back to Circe's island to bury him. And knowing that these stories come from an oral tradition, I wouldn't be surpised if it was supposed to be comedic. I can imagine if you were performing a poem like this out loud there would be a sort of rhythm to it, where you want the audience laughing at some parts and then crying at other parts. It's very fun to imagine what it must have been like as a living tradition.
11:22 this is why i love this duo. Mortius' original reactions were amazing but adding Casper adds so much great input. They both cover what the other lacks, and watching them react together to Epic, Hamilton, and whatever else they put out in the future is one of my favorite things to do!
Hermes be like: I'm gonna treat my -however many greats- grand baby. He's been through so much! He deserves it! I'm gonna give him so much unconditional care he'll be shook motionless! Let's go spook my grand baby! I'm so excited! He he he he!
1:49:57 Okay so I just gave your light a listen cuz it was stuck in my head (I just saw a tiktok with it) and OH MY GOD😭 after everything that happened in epic,i got pretty emotional honestly it’s so pretty and hard hitting😭 Mortius you are INDEED a villain for showing that song to casper before the cyclops saga, RUTHLESS.
Hopping in to give some viewing minutes. In just watching the first few minutes, I feel like Casper has evolved from a "alright, c'mon, impress me" stance to "the die-hard fan he now is. One of us, indeed!
These are...so much sadder to rewatch after finishing the Thunder saga. I am getting SO MANY FEELS after seeing his hopeful happy face in Full Speed Ahead nosedive over time.
Watching these videos again, sharing EPIC with Casper really is the start of Mortius's villain arc. Mortius's laughter saying "when does a man become a moster" to Casper at 20:23 is already cracking me up. lol
Words can't express the joy I get from seeing you two go from not knowing anything about Epic, becoming fans, and now some of the cast are fans of YOU. The fact that Luke Holt is a fan of these videos is so cool to me.
so you guys just kept me company for 7 and a half hours while I did the same mindless ten-minute admin task over and over for my job. thanks for keeping me sane!
i know that this is a little deep and philosophical maybe for this but about Polyphemus and Odysseus, my ethics philosophy professor at school was a huge fan of classical mythology, and when he was writing the textbook for his class he included a bunch of references and examples from greek mythology. one of the chapters focused on Polyphemus and Ody, and i have never forgotten his interpretation. basically he said that he always felt like, in this particular instance, Ody is doing something morally wrong, since according to the original story, Polyphemus is doing literally nothing to them until they attack his home and kill his sheep. so basically, this is a long way of saying that i agree with your interpretation of Polyphemus!!
Oh, What is this i see? A 7hr+ video from my favorite reaction duo, copilating my favorite EPIC reactions, that forced them into making a duo channel named after our perfect boy Polites?!? I guess i know what im binge watching as your reactions to Thunder saga come out!😉
You can tell my new hyperfixation over Epic while I'm stuck at home sick is strong cause I watched this ENTIRE compilation in almost one sitting. I regret nothing LOL It was awesome experience this journey with you ❤
One thing I'm amazed by is how this community is how people react to throw backs. Gigi does a throw back to The Horse and the Infant and everyone's mind is blown. Jorge does a throw back to Open Arms and everyone is like "You didn't!"
Two types of people who got long hair :one with the "best to be overdressed than underdressed" and one with "idfk aslong its comfy and feels good" Edit: THE FULL SPEED AHEAD REPRISE LYRICS ARE EPIC
With the winions, I think they're all correct! They lived with aeolus and I guess some of them got to the lotus island and ate the fruit! Over time they turned in to the fluffy creatures we all know and love! and of course were jays winions, supporting him till the end❤❤❤❤❤❤ Hope this helped mortius and Casper I love the epic and Hamilton videos keep up the amazing work y'all 💞💞
5:20:52 In Oedipus’ defense, he did not know that she was his mother when he married her. Oedipus was raised in Corinth after being given to a shepherd as a baby. Oedipus later gets married to a woman named Jocasta, the widow of the previous king of Thebes, Laius, without knowing they were related. (Jocasta thought her son was dead.) Oedipus eventually discovered the truth after a messenger from Corinth and the shepherd who rescued him told him the truth. Oedipus realizes he had killed his father and slept with his mother. Jocasta ends up hanging herself after realizing the truth and Oedipus blinded himself with pins from her dress. After Oedipus is no longer king, Oedipus's brother-sons kill each other. The End.
I've watched 5 hours straight. It's 8:32 right now. That means I've been up since 3 in the morning and still haven't been to sleep. I need to sleep. You can say that Epic: The Musical is my new hyperfixation.

“Odysseus is Nobody, and his best is now also no-body.”-My boyfriend just came to me with this that popped into his head and I hate him for saying this and I hate myself for laughing. (yes I commented this on Casper’s video as well-)
I agree that wasnt an apology in ruthlessness but an apology does not require sorry, sorry is only one way to apologize it is all about tone and wording not just sorry
Something I noticed about the interaction with my goodbye: Odysseus has been struggling with her in his head constantly, pushing him to do things he doesn’t want to do. He is wanting to have a minute to think and make his own decisions without her constantly pushing him into violence.
Casper asking for therapy a the artist saying get in line is gold 😂 I was sobbing at Polites death too and said these exact same word to my brother (who showed me Epic) and he evil laughed at me 😂

Likely already mentioned, but fun fact to the comment pointing out the 'threading' machine in 6:00:00 ish, that is a nod to the OG story - penelope used the excuse that she could not mary anyone until she had finished weaving Odysseus funeral drapery, that'd be burned in his funeral instead of his body. The suitors for the most of those 20 years of waiting respected that tradition, and so to take that long she basically spent all day for 20 years weaving a complex piece, then un-weaving it every night to make sure she was never done. It was, amidst other strategies, the why the suitors waited so long. Hence being shown here as he mentions its been 12 long years, its what she is currently doing in this mean time waiting for him, buying him time to return.

2:02:30 Yes, since Eurylocus is the Second in Command he is the ‘voice of the soldiers’. In Full Speed Ahead he is the one who says that the soldiers need to eat and that they have run out of food.
7:21:51 when I first saw this, I thought Penelope was decrowning Odysseus. Like, he'd get home as the monster, but she wouldn't accept him as king again? It took a few weeks for me to realize that was Polites' headband.
AND Circe is not a goddess, but she is more than a human. She is the daughter of a god and a nymph. And in Greek mythology EVERYONE hooks up with everyone, regardless of relationship or sex. Uranus hooks up with Gaea, his mother, for example. Ximena (I pronounce it like Hi (like hahaha/laughter) mena)

In Epic, Polites is the FIRST man he's lost in his career.
why would you say this
@@music_and_other_random_thi1330
Because pain. Actually, because I hadn't seen anyone share this "fun fact."

I never realized for this specific Polyphemus design 1:21:58 how hilarious it is for Odysseus to just go “hey, there”
Circe is a demi-titan, so she's technically a minor god. Her father is Helios (the sun)
Definitely leaving it on while i sleep. I'll probably watch it again when I wake up. 😊
Its time to watch all seven hours of this because I love yall so much
The watch hours mission is a go
@@G_RezSIR YES SIR
Im ready to see the trauma once again 😂
Welp, time to watch seven hours of “Where’s Jorge’s twitter?” vibes (๑•̀ㅂ •́)و ✧
To OAR or not to OAR - tis not the question - because you always OAR, no matter what
Finally a way to binge my confort series for a third time
I've been watching the entire playlist anyway, this is just more convenient for me lol
Ikr🤣 same
Omg watchinf casper from the first song to now is wild. You changed eachothers life it seems 🎉
OMG luck runs out is sooooooo heartbreaking now
Bleeping swear with the "What?" is my favorite. More of this please
Time to happily watch you both go thought this journey again! ❤
11:22 this is why i love this duo. Mortius' original reactions were amazing but adding Casper adds so much great input. They both cover what the other lacks, and watching them react together to Epic, Hamilton, and whatever else they put out in the future is one of my favorite things to do!
BRO HOW DID CASPER’S FAN REPRISE EXACTLY PREDICT THE OPENING TO DANGEROUS LIKE THAT IS THE SAME SONG
Understanding Casper saying "why? Why??? Jeg forstår det ik' serøst.. WHY?????" At 1:52:51 made it the greatest thing ever xD
I loved that livestream
And for anyone who don't speak Danish, Casper said "I don't understand it, seriously"
Hopping in to give some viewing minutes. In just watching the first few minutes, I feel like Casper has evolved from a "alright, c'mon, impress me" stance to "the die-hard fan he now is. One of us, indeed!
Perfect length of a video 👏🏻👏🏻 I can listen to this at work and not worry about picking something new afterwards 😂

These are...so much sadder to rewatch after finishing the Thunder saga. I am getting SO MANY FEELS after seeing his hopeful happy face in Full Speed Ahead nosedive over time.
This going straight onto my comfort content playlist!!
Watching these videos again, sharing EPIC with Casper really is the start of Mortius's villain arc. Mortius's laughter saying "when does a man become a moster" to Casper at 20:23 is already cracking me up. lol
"Sometimes killing is a must." THIS LINE HITS SO DIFFERENTLY AFTER THE THUNDER SAGA CAME OUT OH MY GODS!
I have been listening to this the whole day now, I love you reactions so much and they have been the background to all my tasks today.
"What's Jorge's Twitter!" Always gets me.
Two types of people who got long hair :one with the "best to be overdressed than underdressed" and one with "idfk aslong its comfy and feels good"
Edit: THE FULL SPEED AHEAD REPRISE LYRICS ARE EPIC
Wooo!! A compilation video is exciting :D also the channel name about killed me djsfhns
With the winions, I think they're all correct! They lived with aeolus and I guess some of them got to the lotus island and ate the fruit! Over time they turned in to the fluffy creatures we all know and love! and of course were jays winions, supporting him till the end❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hope this helped mortius and Casper I love the epic and Hamilton videos keep up the amazing work y'all 💞💞
5:20:52 In Oedipus’ defense, he did not know that she was his mother when he married her.
Oedipus was raised in Corinth after being given to a shepherd as a baby.
Oedipus later gets married to a woman named Jocasta, the widow of the previous king of Thebes, Laius, without knowing they were related. (Jocasta thought her son was dead.)
Oedipus eventually discovered the truth after a messenger from Corinth and the shepherd who rescued him told him the truth. Oedipus realizes he had killed his father and slept with his mother.
Jocasta ends up hanging herself after realizing the truth and Oedipus blinded himself with pins from her dress. After Oedipus is no longer king, Oedipus's brother-sons kill each other.
The End.

Kratos: "there are no good gods". Hermes: laughing
Casper asking for therapy a the artist saying get in line is gold 😂
I was sobbing at Polites death too and said these exact same word to my brother (who showed me Epic) and he evil laughed at me 😂
5:28:42 the way I’ve heard „horse in the infant!!” And the face Casper made, Made me laugh my heart out XDDDD btw I’m so obsessed with you guys, this 7,5h long video basically makes me so happy I’ve been watching it lately and it’s literally my light 😭 I’m staying with y’all till my last day I swear, you just brings me so much joy!!!

Im dedicating my day to this today!!!! LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH! THE DYNAMIC DUO
If I can watch two Critical Role campaigns (with a third in the works) I can absolutely support the boys.
Omg I actually started tearing up seeing yalls pfp of Polites & his iconic banner 😢 thank you for putting all your reactions in one video! Will gladly watch all 7+ hours bcuz yalls love for this musical & for Polites really was a soothing balm for my broken heart over him so yay!!!

I can imagine the other gods coming up to Poseidon and saying “oh there hi Poseidon, oops, I mean, wet hades”
2:05:30 We actually do know who fired the arrow. It was Odysseus. A big part of Odysseus is that he’s an archer.
