@@alexsarg1 there's another one in American Nightmare, in the observatory, when Old Gods of Asgard song plays (Balance Slays the Demon) and you fight off the Taken!

I know Old Gods of Asgard are Poets of the Fall and I know that Poets play a bit different music in general but to be completely honest - I really feel like there is a big need of that classic heavy metal band like Old Gods of Asgard are. Catchy choruses and verses, sick guitar riffs and solos, amazing vocals! I love this version of Poets, man! To all the gods in the world - bless Finalnd🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
In all honesty, I like Old Gods of Asgard more. They obviously like this kind of music too, or they wouldn't be playing, but I do think it's a shame they don't focus on it more, since they are really killing it. Can't blame them for playing what they want to play though. "Nobody tells a man how to play, it just ain't that way." - after all.
Not to toot my own horn but toot toot anyway. I kinda try to aim to that with Break From Bedlam. But hearing this track - maybe there aren't enought guitar solos.
Fun Fact: Poets of the Fall have a Soundtrack in Control too, its a hidden Easter Egg to be found: My Dark Disquiet and its a really good Song. At that point in Time i didnt know that Old Gods of Asgard and the Poets of the Fall are the same guys XD
Yep, the lyrics are on point in this song. I always get chills when they blend Alan Wake's name in the bridge leading to the chorus. "Once more, the ocean's a lake. So alike, A LANd aWAKE"!
Dark Ocean Summoning definitely managed to top the stage fight scene in the first game. It was like that scene cranked to 11, just like everything about Alan Wake II. Remedy and Poets of the Fall both at their finest!
Man his voice is just otherworldly in this song, I get shivers during every verse. The fact we got not one, not two, but THREE new Old Gods of Asgard songs just blows my mind, all of them are just top notch. I can't stop listening to them.
And the other non-Poets/Old Gods songs that were featured in AW2 were also a bomb (as I understand they were also written specially for AW2). "Superhero", "Dark, Twisted and Cruel", "No one Left to Love", "Follow you into the Dark", "Wide Awake" and I can't forget our favorite janitor Ahti and his "yötön yö" - all absolute bangers. The soundtrack for AW2 is absolutely amazing.
@@ArathirCz You forgot "This Road", by Poe, who just happens to be the Writer's sister (not Alan, but another famous writer with ties to a dark place, Mark Z. Danielewski).

That intro with poets of the fall in the background and the lighting and the way music just blended into everything and just made everything so awesome
I like how the Dark Presence growls some of the lines along with Old Gods of Asgard, and adds just ONE line to the song itself... which I suspect is what allowed it to escape along with Alan.
I looove it how the very 1st line refers to Cauldron Lake 👀 AW2 has one of the best soundtrack in the game industry so far. Thank you Poets and Sam and Kyle 🔥

Its interesting that they never actually mentioned Alan by name directly in the song, but managed to hide him in their lyrics anyway to throw The Dark Presence off exactly what they planned. Its in how much emphasis they put on parts of the words that spell it out. "once again, the ocean's a lake. so alike A LANd aWAKE" "come save your soul. AWAKE new and whole"
Song and the whole Summoning scene are amazing! After reading about Balder's death in museum, it was also very emotional. When song starts and you can see projection of the whole bend in their prime, rocking out. Balder was with them at that moment... 🥲
God damn this part of the game was just amazing The music in this game is just off the charts with how good it all is. It’s so unique in the way it implements music into its story and it’s just fricking awesome. 🤘🤘🤘
This song is even better than Herald of Darkness. I love the idea of good guys doing an eldritch ritual, and the lyrics are great with the sneaky way of summoning Alan. Also, I *love* the lead guitarist for this band. Sometimes I bounce off rock/metal guitar a little because the guitarist sounds a bit more like they're trying to flex than play music, but this guy makes shredding sound absolutely beautiful, and I love it.
Seriously, the guitarist has no right being THIS GREAT 😂. Like, wtf? He's legit better than most modern shredders. He was obviously influenced by the likes of Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen and Paul Gilbert. Ridiculous that such a monster player went under the radar for most of the guitar community. He's ridiculous and deserves recognition. For all the non-guitarists: yes, what he plays in all these songs is as difficult to play as it sounds. Especially during the "We Sing" section, he goes bonkers. He's ridiculous.
For sure, I hear a LOT of Zakk Wylde in his looping and wah usage, plus resolving many of the licks on the 4th beat which is a ZW thing imo. Definitely Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert there too. Baldur from Old Gods is just supposed to be 80s shred incarnate and Olli pulled it off so damn well
“Awake new and whole. By name I will summon him” I don’t know if that was intentional or great writing but putting Alan’s name in the song (A. Wake) is amazing. And plays into the story
crazy how much saga grew on me throughout the game. I absolutely just wanted to play as alan but ultimately enjoy both of them equally at the end. this was an amazing song for her final fight with the taken / scratch
I think it’s wild how many people say they don’t like Saga. Matthew is amazing as Alan, but the writing for Saga’s story was amazing. The constant refusal to accept the story while still experiencing doubt was extremely relatable for a mind bending situation.
Control was my first Remedy game and I didn't know about the Ashtray Maze when playing, when I got to that it skyrocketed Control from a game I already liked a lot to one of my all-time favorites. I was expecting to hear more music in Alan Wake 2 and man, you guys did not disappoint. Can't wait for that physical CD!
I can’t explain into words how happy I am that I played Alan Wake and discovered this band. I absolutely ADORE their sound. The Ash Tray Maze is honestly one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time, with “Take Control” blasting through the speakers…. Damnit man. Love this band. They deserve so much more attention and recognition.
Just imagine what Estevez is feeling here, like, she comes to do some normal SPC like work, finds an anomaly so dangerous it team wipes her crew and almost does her in too. The local town and nursery home are so accustomed to the madness that killing the monsters from the hellgate lake is just tuesday for them, they are LONG past the 'oh god monsters!' stage. A random FBI lady is suddenly a key player, and proceeds to bring her grandparents to the shore of said hellgate lake to summon a famous writer out of the hell dimension with a rock show for the lake. All while the FBI lady is having a battle royale in front of the stage. The plan fails, she is thrown into hell by the big bad SCP, who then takes control of reality and flees, leaving her on the shore alone to see the famous writer (who is kind of half responsible for all this shitshow) be her sole hope, and meanwhile, the two geriatrics are walking into the lake like its the pool of a senior home, knowing its a portal to hell. What a day.
Well even the FBC are having their own problems at the Oldest House. I like to think that simple throwaway line is important as Remedy do plan a control spin off multiplayer game and I think it’s that and why she’s short staffed because most agents and rangers are back at the Oldest House
@@dragondelsur5156 highly doubt it. Jesse stopped the Hiss invasion and had 5 years to clean up the place up from any possessed. I reckon it has something to do with Alan, Tim/Jack, And Jesse. This song happened to come up on my playlist as I was driving to go pick up the keys to my first house. I became a solo homeowner at 28 years old, and this song made me feel like a total badass. Thank you for making such an awesome song, and for helping me celebrate!
"So alike (a lan)d a(wake)" I love the lyrics ❤🤘 Everybody involving thank you. This was one of the best gaming experiences I ever had and the songs did their part perfectly.
Yeah, I like that despite the lyrics saying "By name I will summon him" they never directly say "Alan Wake". Interpretation and intuition apparently have a profound effect on how fiction interacts with the Dark Place. It's also referenced in multiple other places (and the game itself) how "A. Wake" sounds like a silly fictional character's name, so that the word 'awake' is used multiple times in the song to represent Alan is totally on point
I would just like to appreciate the guys from poets of the fall and remedy games for bringing such awesome songs to this world. I'm just here waiting for an "old gods of asgard" live tour. That would be awesome!
If you watch closely you can tell the silhouettes of the main guitar and bass player amongst the clouds in the background. This is all just glorious. The song itself is amazing even though ordinarily you'd think after "Champion of Light" surely nothing can be better. Well, this one gives you a run for it's money. It's borderline unbelievable that a single videogame could inspire so many different truly impactful and amazing songs. I'm so overwhelmed and grateful to the artists and writers that made all this possible...

@@DrasticSkuba it doesn't have to be Dark, Alan is bound to this rule because he's a murder thriller writer. If I had a dollar for every time Remedy put a killer sequence in their game with a certified banger playing in the background that makes you feel like a god, I'd have five dollars. Which isn't a lot but it does make me a greedy bastard hungry for more
What are those sequences except control (take control) and alan wake 2 (herald of darkness)?
the Children of the Elder Gods sequence from AW1, and there was a part in American Nightmare where The Happy Song plays while an onslaught of Taken tries to, uh, take you out. Also the airport sequence in Max Payne 3@@alexsarg1

Rocking so hard that an FBC agent acknowledges the arcane forces being wielded is something to strive for in your music career.
You should check out Van Halen's kid. He has some classic rock inspired tracks, but modernized
@Subtra you say fun fact like everybody skipped the ashtray maze

Dark Ocean Summoning definitely managed to top the stage fight scene in the first game. It was like that scene cranked to 11, just like everything about Alan Wake II. Remedy and Poets of the Fall both at their finest!
You could say the first stage fight was... upstaged.

Four. The album will contain an additional song. It is not in the game, but you can find a snippet of lyrics in Chapter 5. It is called Sea of Night.
@@Fedor_Kisliakov Oh yeah, I can't wait to hear it. Pre-ordered the CD. Hopefully it will be put on spotify with the rest of the songs next month.
I like how the Dark Presence growls some of the lines along with Old Gods of Asgard, and adds just ONE line to the song itself... which I suspect is what allowed it to escape along with Alan.
Genuinely shed a tear when the song started up and you saw a vision of them all young again with Baldur.

The music in this game is just off the charts with how good it all is.
Olli Tukiainen, guitarist of Poets of the Fall and their alter egos Old Gods of Asgard.
No way, as a guitar player myself I absolutely appreciate his skill.
Yeah, he probably listened a lot of Malmsteen.
For sure, I hear a LOT of Zakk Wylde in his looping and wah usage, plus resolving many of the licks on the 4th beat which is a ZW thing imo. Definitely Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert there too. Baldur from Old Gods is just supposed to be 80s shred incarnate and Olli pulled it off so damn well
I forgot exactly what the song is, I think it is "balance slays the demon" but that is straight up inspired by ozzy and wylde
“Awake new and whole. By name I will summon him”
I don’t know if that was intentional or great writing but putting Alan’s name in the song (A.
I just finish Alan wake 2 and I gotta hear this masterpiece without the shooting noise, it is fire🔥

Yeah, I like that despite the lyrics saying "By name I will summon him" they never directly say "Alan Wake". Interpretation and intuition apparently have a profound effect on how fiction interacts with the Dark Place. It's also referenced in multiple other places (and the game itself) how "A.
