M3 touring has been busy big time. But I think it's wise to do a Dyno test to see how much hp the car actually has because that can't be 510hp.... Bimmer, all day everyday
Pretty much the numbers they advertised is the wheel hp but claim it as the crank hp. A lot of times when on the dyno, they make pretty much the same or close hp to the advertised “crank” hp but at the wheels.
Even at the stated 510bhp it has more bhp per ton than the X5M which is more important that absolute power in a drag race like this, especially when considering that absolute power rather than bhp per ton starts to give more advantages with respect to top speed but the X5M compromises that theoretical top end advantage through its inferior aerodynamics.

Fast in a straightline but the track beast golf 3 vr6 demolished the bi-turbo Merc. Weight and hight do nothing good if you don't want to drive in a straight line. Braking is something many people don’t realize how close an SUV is vs. a Sports car, traction is proportional to weight, and at high speeds the aerodynamics(or lack of) actually helps an SUV. (Of course fading might kick in early, but with cold brakes an X5, Cayenne, is not too far of from super sport cars.
What I don't get is if they can put a 625hp engine to the X5, then why the cutting edge and super special XM only has 450ish hp engine. Sure, it's a bit more powerful with the hybrid stuff, but even more heavier. It's still a lot of power, but for a special M exclusive var I'd expect the best.
Look at current BMW dyno graphs and you will see they have a flat torque curve almost up to the red line. That is how they pull so hard. Also the M3 is much lighter and not brick shaped like the X5M.
I strongly believe that there is something wrong with that BMW X5M competition, I mean x5m is known to be one the quickest and powerful SUV's, so for it to lose against the that BMW M3 Touring I'm so disappointed 😞

And thats why car is better then SUV. You will get better dynamics even with smaller engine and all that with better fuel economy as well. Add to it that most SUVs are smaller on the inside then regular cars while being bigger on the outside (except 7 seaters SUVs ofc) and I just dont get it while people buy oversized shoe boxes which are dangerous to its surroundings thanks to poor vieving angles and sheer mass of the SUVs.

As I Notizen driving an M5 on my work you can Engage the Parking brake and put it in neutral so it doesnt have the rev limiter. Dont know if this works on Other BMW M Modells especially the X5M which is in this race. And bevor some say you dont do this with a customer car: we needed to Do it because the customer complained it stutters at high engine speeds (by the way the car had an oil tempreature of 79° when doing it so Nothing was damaged)
Nice X5M, but the "must have" the best shooting brake in 2013 is the M3 Touring. AUDI will not built now a full petrol RS4 . I am sad , i like the old RS4 V8 , 4.2 liters and 450 HP. Thank you MAT for this drag race. WOnderful sky and clouds.
