I have heard all my life to stretch before exercising or going walking, hiking, running, or before any exercises or Athletic events.
So maybe a lite stretch and a lite warmup then stretch again.
All I know is,, stretching is really good and makes you feel better..
I have been stretching and it is helping my low back and planking is helping my low back, core exercises are helping me too..😊😊
Squats are helping my knees also.. And I am not being payed to say this.
I am just a average person with issues. Let's get moving.. Thankyou, please make more videos..

You offer an excellent combo of hope and technique! This channel is the best in the area of natural/non-surgical health improvement and enhancement.
Puddles of tears...I am literally crying because I am so happy I found Upright Health. I know it is going to take work, but Matt's exercises and teaching are the answer to a 4 year struggle of overcoming the hip arthritis issues I have been dealing with and no one else has been able to shed light on how to resolve...short of surgery.
Thank you so much!!!!
48 yrs old- 4 years here too
Was super fit and healthy. Hip flexor issue one day- should have been a few week recovery. Hip arthritis and uk 🇬🇧 nhs physio? 😂
Covid - the inflammation has caused issues- 2 steps forward 3 steps back
Previous Back/shoulder issues- then everything having domino effect due to Covid
It’s been a battle
High hopes for this channel, trust Conner Harris too
Thanks to all you good people on TH-cam for these videos
Making use while they’re all available before they get removed by *them*
God bless 🙏🇬🇧
I am 82 and had an MRI, saying I have hip arthritis. I am new to your channel. My plan is to start doing this routine. Thank you for sharing. 🇨🇦
I really appreciate all you are teaching us in the videos. I’m 71 and through a series of injuries and illnesses, I lost a lot of strength in my legs and hips. I resorted to the use of a walking stick and a walker. Since we found your videos I am steadily regaining strength. I plan to be able to dance again in a year, and I would like to be able to do a deep squat by the time I turn 75. Thank you again for teaching us how our bodies work and how we can reclaim our strength no matter our age!!
GOOD NEWS!!
Matt thanks for making these no nonsense video's It has helped!!.... so I invested in the DIY program and I'm looking forward to being done with hip, and low back pain!!
Been doing your stretches for a few months and starting to make progress....key was a massager used in stretched position (posoas, quads, tfl...were all tight and weak) ...actually got internal and external rotation on my right leg now..loving it,I can walk and bend with no pain(60yrs old with some medical issues).....love your channel.
I watched three of your Hip YTs - all are EXCELLENT! I love your approach -- you emphasize taking your time and feeling where the stretch is happening - Slow is Safe and Fast is Foolish :>))) -- Pushing is not good - too fast & too much - then injury occurs - it takes a long time to heal - especially the groin. THANK YOU!!!
This is my second time doing the exercise and I do the moves and feel better already, thank you for the help ❤ I got to check out your other videos too
Fantastic! It’s been almost a year since being on a regular routine or viewing this superb channel. Love your acronyms research and philosophy. Using it daily has enabled me be able to walk without canes for up to 1/2 mile on the beach-and 1 mile on treadmill. Lost my cc card and will sign back up to support your worthy work in near future. Got to get back into a rhythm of a routine. Remember pain sucks life shouldn’t 😊
Video recommendation: Best daily stretching routine for beginners
Terrific video.
I'm nearly 64 and I work retail. My need for stretching like this and your other videos is huge.
This was really helpful because it was follow along and it stretched such a problem area.
If you wanted to do a "retail workers daily stretch," maybe 20 minutes, that goes from neck, shoulders, hips, feet, that would be really terrific.
Your current videos are really complete, though, so it's not like I'm waiting for a new vid with bated breath.
yes! this with your back stretch routine 👍👍👍
At last after scanning the internet for an exercise programme that I feel really benefits my tight hips, here it is , all makes such perfect sense , thankyou so much for these , I know its going to do me good 😄👍
Thanks
Thank YOU!
Ah!!! My hips feel much better! This Follow Along hip stretch works on me like magic. I will keep on doing it from now on. Thank you very much.
Thanks!
Thank you for your support!
so grateful to come across you and your guidancecand approach.
I love your teaching AND Feldenkrais teaching too !! I teach and do Pilates, 82 yo. I incorporate Feldenkrais when people are injured, very tired , next to Matt inspiration routines. You are right, we need both, muscles AND awareness .
Hoping to lose the hip pain. Like you teaching style, thanks!
I really appreciate your help. ❤

I'm from Serbia and I do the same stretching exercises with my coach-physiotherapist.
It's not easy, especially since I have a problem with my knees, but it's going slowly.
Best regards and thanks.
These exercises are great! I'm a beginner and my legs were shaking alot, but will continue to get better.
Ì so appreciate you! Thank you, your every word is exactly what I need to hear. I just need to commit to being consistent and keep doing it as it will get better.

Thanks for the recap!
Excellent stretching video..ty
Oh thank God!!!
Your videos are full of tremendous knowledge and information on the human body. I am a member of FAI Fix and really learn so much from you. Recently I came across this video and your hip strengthening video which I wish I knew about years ago. I have hip osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia and osteoporosis. 😬 these 2 videos have helped me more than anything and it’s only been 2 days! And I’ve been dealing with this for 10 years! 3 orthopedic surgeons told me I have bone on bone and lost my internal rotation on my left hip and need a hip replacement. I want to prove them wrong! The only thing though is that when I do the hip flexor stretch and have my left knee bent in front I feel grinding and have to back off. Do you have any suggestions? I want to continue as I have noticed such a difference already. Thank you so much!
I also have the osteoarthritis in the hip and the docs have told me that I need the surgery to really get the function back. I just came across these videos today and started trying to do them. I also have physical therapy scheduled. Hopefully I will be able to get off the prescription pills and cane that I just started as well without the hip replacement. I had been doing very well for a long time without the surgery, but recently it hasn't been going well. So, hopefully, that will be turned around very soon.
always right on time
Thanks again, Matt!!
I would like the follow along video. Thank you
Thank you for making this video!
My additive to my fascia, lymphatic " good morning " routine!
Anyone dealing with plantar FASCIAtis, will benefit GREATLY from these stetches !
Thank you for follow alongs!!
nice - I like the follow along coaching ( rather than "do 10 of these 3X")
Brilliant!
this is a wonderful stretch. i hope my hip will give me some relief. wanting to jog and get nervous when my left hip gets tight. i will try to be consistent with this. thank you
Just what me and my hubby need. Thank you !!! 😊
Thanks a million for this great follow along video!
Thank you so much!!!!
You're welcome!
Really great video, thank you! 👏I'll do these exercises on a regular basis from now on 💪
This was excellent! Great precursor to get the glutes "firing" before other exercises. And thank you for the timely email as well. I am trying to follow glute workouts at a more advanced level but I need to activate them properly first.
Question: How long does one need to do these for? Can one do them daily? How soon before one can progress to more strengthening exerses for the glutes?
Great video and stretches. What is that equation painted on the fence?
Matt you are so Awesome! Thank you!
I agree, he IS so Awesome. Thank you Matt for these thoughtful and enriching exercises. I agree that there is too much empha$i$ on $urgery in the med field.
Thank you so much!!! These videos really help me.
Great video! Helpful, easy-to-understand instructions. Just what I need to know.
Thank you! So glad to have found your channel. I really like the white ladder in the video, could you point me to the source to purchase one? Thanks!
Really good Strachan 👍
great video, thanks!
would be amazing to see a similar video on frozen shoulder, what kind of every day exercises help alleviate the problem.
doing quite a few but wonder if i'm missing something important.
thank you for sharing!
Great short video 👍
Thank you, Matt
My pleasure!
That felt great!
Thanks for the video
I would like to know what to look for to know how and whether our muscles are responding so we know when to increase the frequency. How will it look and feel?
Thx for your videos. Very helpful. But why are we holding for90 seconds? Should we work up to that? That’s a lot! I’ll try some of your other videos.
Hi, really enjoying the videos and exercises. My question is if the pain in your hip is not caused by the femoral head and acetabellum degradation ,I.e., rubbing bone on bone then why would a lidocaine/cortisone shot in the joint space take away all the associated muscle pain. I had glute pain, groin pain, side of leg pain, almost a girdle of pain around my upper leg/ butt and after the shot all the muscle pain melted away for a few weeks. Wouldn’t that indicate the pain is from the hip joint itself? Really interested in your thought on that. Many Thanks! Dimitri
Thank you. Not sure how to become a member?
Question- isn’t the hamstring stretch a static stretch that you said to avoid in another video ?
Thanks
Inner thigh stretch on problem right hip ok while doing. Challenge getting back upright like wanting to lock out there. Wiggle of foot off ground enabled ease back up. Probably leant in to much to soon me thinks. All feels so good after thank you
Eager to make this part of my routine 13:02
Hello, it is safe to do these stretches for people with hip labral tear?
thank you for this. Do you advise ibuprofin or aleve to help with chronic pain in hips and knees until the issue is resolved (hopefully)?
Noooo it's for inflammation & Only have after a meal, Never on an empty stomach. k
DON'T GET CAUGHT IN RIIPS. th-cam.com/video/vOq2AzMJckM/w-d-xo.html
I do the first exercise holding on to my bathroom vanity and putting my foot up on the closed toilet. It works for my height.
Should a person do stretching before or after an exercise routine? Thank you
do you have back stretches for after performing weighted back squats or deadlifts? don't use an inversion table?
Always been stiff but can't walk outside and inside is difficult for 2 years. Hope this helps, Thanks
Where to buy the exercise pants you wear
Hi, just getting used to your vids, quite pleased. I’m a senior(77) and when I lie face down on my yoga mat, I can’t grab hold of my ankles, I’m quite a distance away. Not sure if it’s hips that are problem, don’t know what part of the body to exercise. Maybe you can help, thanks
Can any of these be done seated?
Hi i have pain in my legs all the time from bleow knees.. i am starting this excercise but is there any other i can try.. age 43. Have to stand all the time during work... thanks
Is there an easier way to do the outer hip stretch? I can’t figure out how to do this, like my whole body weight is on the side of my foot and all the components of the stretch are too much to think about and figure out while trying to do the stretch.
Trial and error- we’re all individually challenged- even in ourselves… what worked one day, won’t necessarily work again.
Healing is a journey not a destination; get that in your mindset and you’re halfway to healing.

@uprighthealth New to your channel. Love the content. I would love to see a video about sleep posture- there is no good content on this and I feel a lot of my issues come from how my body is positioned throughout the night.
Are these ok for mid 70s persons with bad knees! ? They seem rather strenuous
Work within your ability, but stay consistent. Exercises like this take a long time to manifest changes.
Please advise!
What can someone do if they have over developed their glutes beyond good????
Onlyfans
Learn what the glutes actually do. Then learn the antagonist muscles and strengthen them. Meanwhile work on hip mobility.
I am hypermobile. How do I avoid hyperextending my knee
WARMING THE MUSCLES BY WALKING on place and then stretching. I have to say this, after I had a muscle torn, bc I did a light exercise WITHOUT warming up my muscles. It is now more than 3 month ago that this had happened. (Its not your fault, and I didn't any of your exercises, when this happened)
Matt! I have a problem. I worked on the pelvic bones, was trying made them more flexible and less tight, stretched them, for more than a month. Everything seemed to be fine at first, but now I feel unsteady when I stand or walk. And I don't control it(( and I don't know how to turn it back as was earlier. Already 2weeks I'm suffering
Please, if you can make a video about pelvic floor exercises that would be great. I am sure there is a large number of women who are interested in this. Thanks on advance
