Maggi is a iconic brand and loved by almost every Indian as it brings back childhood memories. The marketing theory concepts mentioned are good and sit well within the context. However I don’t believe that it was marketing or PR alone that propelled it to success. One major reason is that Nestle did not just sell a product but emotions. You'll find so many people associating childhood memories with Maggi. I think that explains its successful comeback. Other competitors could not capitalise this opportunity as it takes time to establish such a robust distribution in such a short time.
After world war II, Momofuku Ando was looking for a way to cook noodles instantly and make it from WHEAT FLOUR. Japan was getting wheat cheaply from US subsidies but they didn't have sufficient rice or other grains used to make the flour of traditional noodles. The breakthrough he made was incorporating cheap wheat flour and making it instant at the same time.

LOL, I am one of them who won the maggi quiz competition in 2004 at my school. I got a maggi school bag with full of maggi packets in it. That was the first competition I ever won. It's so crazy that I was a part of their marketing then.
The girl who said "abse hum Maggi nahi khayenge" lives just opposite to my house and just yesterday I saw her eating Maggi with her family in the balcony 🙃.
Maggi has become a brand that resonates with every Indian household now. The multi-sized packaging played an essential role. With packs starting from Rs. 5 all the way to Rs. 50, it made sure that Maggi becomes affordable for every individual.
In this case study, the marketing efforts are overrated and the unforgettable taste of maggi (it's masala) is underrated. The secret recipe is the key. Another example: Coke.
Maggie has made such a place in our life that they have a place in our fondest memories. The 5 month ban hurt us so much in the college hostel, when they were back honestly it was like a festival the day they came back. It's very inspiring to see them.
It's a memory, In our school they use to come every 6 months and offer us free maggie. They use to bring big vessel and cook whole thing, we use to stand in line for out turn. Its more than 20 years but still I remember that taste.
I still remember, nestle came to my school and conducted quiz competition. It was way back 15 years ago. I was part of it and they gave maggi to me after the competition end.

being a maggie consumer from the time I started eating solid food it became an emotion. like a friend who was with us in the time of happiness and pain. And everything can be replaced in this world except family and friends which became one of the reasons we didn't even like the idea of having any other noodles other than maggie
We underestimate the market penetration in Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities/towns in India. You have to sell in smaller packets. That's the secret of volume selling in India in these markets. The Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets are more of bulk selling. Life is not black and white. They are lot of shades of grey in there 😉.
What makes me buy Maggie: 1. In the current situation of covid, I merely go out to eat. So for a change in taste Maggie is a brilliant thing. 2. Whenever my mother is away and I end up being alone in home, Maggie is one of the easiest thing to make for a 15 yr old like me. 3. It is a tasty fast food which can be made at home unlike kabab Paratha, tikki, paani ke batashe etc. But from a long time I had now switched to other products as 1. After the case of finding unhealthy things in Maggie, my parents do not allow me to eat it, even if it is healthy now. 2. In my region, the price of a regular Maggie has increased from Rs. 10 to Rs. 12 and as a regular Indian I do not want that to happen.
Maggie Masala and Constant Price of Maggie were game changers for Maggie's survival.. Price is an imp factor for a brand to survive in India. Maggie's cost has been Rs.10 for almost a decade. Even now it costs only Rs.12 which is way cheaper than any other meals.
One of the MOST important aspect that STILL Works for Maggie and goes against Every other Instant Noodles..... is the TASTE. This is the EXACT Same reason Kissan Mixed Fruit Jam is market leader.

I first tried Maggi noodles around 20 years ago. It tasted like dal-rice for me and I was able to connect with it. I was around 10 years old at that time
When I arrived from America to Vrindavan, it got to be cold so naturally I started looking to make Japanese ramen. It is a favorite item in NYC where people wait in lines down the street for a good base. After looking online at Amazon and Flipkart, taking the bus to Mathura searching in vain, I finally discovered through the young girl at a shop behind the ashram in Vrindavan. She said, "Ooooohhh, we call that Maggie here.😅😅😅😅" Like Americans call tissues after the brand Kleenex. Marketing is a powerful tool.
The main reason why we eat maggi is because of the taste 😋, no other noodle can match it. All the other reasons are secondary. Appreciate Ganesh's effort but he missed this important point.
Marketing started the visibility process but it is the Maggie masala and taste which differentiates it from everyone else. We tried all instant noodles but nothing came close.

Great explanation, I think Colgate also has a similar brand recall value and highest market share in the toothpaste market in India. Please make a video on this too.
And surf tooo
Another great video by Ganesh
And today's lesson exactly nailing down the customer &consumer
Customer =MOM Consumer =child
Where nestle correctly targeted and reached the height..
LOL, I am one of them who won the maggi quiz competition in 2004 at my school. I got a maggi school bag with full of maggi packets in it. That was the first competition I ever won. It's so crazy that I was a part of their marketing then.
The girl who said "abse hum Maggi nahi khayenge"
lives just opposite to my house and just yesterday I saw her eating Maggi with her family in the balcony 🙃.
Maggi is not just a noodle, its part of our memories now.
Also their Masala is out of this world
Yippee also tried the same thing. I remember them sponsoring instant noodles in my school. But Maggie is too hard to compete with.
Being 90s kids, Still miss the Original taste of Maggie. That taste was something else. That taste got lost forever.
Iam from indonesia and this is so awesome thanks for your information dude i hope you and your team always share great content like this
ittni mehnat karta yeh banda to make one video cannot miss even one video amazing job man hats off
ek like toh sir ko banta hai
Thanks bhai ❤️
I still remember, nestle came to my school and conducted quiz competition. It was way back 15 years ago. I was part of it and they gave maggi to me after the competition end.
Maggie and Milo - Both were introduced to me from the competitions which I used to participate during my school days.
Going down on sales when hit with a Problem and rebouncing back to No-1. True Champion
Bro, your contents are gold. Just an humble question if you wouldn't mine, will you be open to post content that are more B2B such as the likes of Salesforce, chargebee, Hubspot, Freshworks and more. Just a tot. Thanks.
being a maggie consumer from the time I started eating solid food it became an emotion. like a friend who was with us in the time of happiness and pain.
I love how well researched your videos are. Can you make a video about how you go about doing the research?
Your thumbnail changing strategy gets me everytime
What makes me buy Maggie:
But from a long time I had now switched to other products as
Because maggi uses
Shrinking effect
I still remember the happiness when the ban was lifted 🥺....and the tv commercial which said aa gayi Maggie touched me ❤️❤️🔥🔥
It made me feel proud of the rich Maggi heritage. Thanks a ton :)
I was always wondered how ganesh is making such awesome contents every week..!
One of the MOST important aspect that STILL Works for Maggie and goes against Every other Instant Noodles..... is the TASTE.
This is the EXACT Same reason Kissan Mixed Fruit Jam is market leader.
if i want to study such things like target audience, reaching demand, marketing strategies and design too.. what bachelors course should i go for?
This is one of that channel, where i like the video first n add to watch-later list to watch the video in my most conscious hours.⏳ All thanx to Ganesh bhaiya n team🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sir I think you should start hindi version of think school because you provide such a great business lessons ...so I don't think language should be a barrier for those who don't understand English
hope you understand my point
I do not remember calling 'noodles' noodles. In childhood, and even now - noodles are not noodles but MAGGI 😍
Missed a crucial point - product is king. No other instant noodle brand worldwide tastes as good as Maggi Masala does to the Indian palate.
Taste is relative. Although maggi does taste amazing.
ur videos are really great , i want to suggest u a topic , make a video on chocolate companies like eclairs, dairy milk, kit kat , perk etc........
I would say that the most important ingredient for their success is the taste. Tried every other noodles but nothing matches the taste of the maggi
Really informative. I really like the case study's presented here. Keep up the good work team. 👍🏻
Your channel is a gold mine! You cover Great businesses. A request to make a video on Bajaj Finance.
Eagerly waiting for a case study on financial services sector. Bajaj finance would be a great study in my opinion.
I strongly believe that maggi includes some ingredient which is very addictive and dopamine releases as we think of maggi.
No that's not true. I switched to Yippee noodles and never came back to Maggie
@@arnablayek2568 😂
May be sulphurdioxide which boost up the taste like macd does it in there burger 🍔
@@arnablayek2568 According to this logic alcohol is also not addictive.
@@arnablayek2568 is holding ITC in his portfolio for sure 😂
The game changer and making Maggi as market leader was the maggi seasoning, nobody can match the taste they made.
Why am I crying watching this video.. Meggie is emotion 🥺🥺🥺
Good brand sells products! Great brands sell emotions🔥
Nestle was giving free maggie samples in our school in 1990. I was 8yr old back then, also we used to watch Duck Tales, Tales Spin, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I dream of ginnie etc 🤣🤣🤣
They gave samples till 2003-04 i think i also remember receiving a sample i just don't remember the exact year😂
People do not buy for what is the product instead why is the product important?
The irony is that Ganesh wears a T-Shirt Color endorsing Yippee in a Maggi Focused video. BTW Excellent content delivery with Thorough research. Well done mate.
hi sir, you are providing very good information. your videos help me in learning new things
Maggi's taste is also so Indian so good, for me no other noodles stand a chance against Maggi 😋.

Thank you for a wonderful case study
I literally don't know about Rameen History , but you present it very interestingly🔥💯. Yes, Rameen has also best instant noodles taste but they failed in marketing. Nestle get huge advantage because it has high source of funds and use the advantage that Japan was not libralised
I'm doctor and got good addiction of your videos...❤🙌keep it up
in the world full of tik tok n reel , i find this channel easy to learn things that i neva focused in my Bschool
Interesting.......i think i jst gt my presentation for tomorrow's class
watching this while eating maggi, thats some market penetration they got 😄
Idk what else can capture the magic of Maggi better than this video does, Great Video!!
Sir
I follow you with full Heart.
Since you promoting the product *Navi Insurance* I am fully assured that the product is genuine.
Will buy the product just on your trust. 🙏🙏
Tiffin box and Maggi were synonyms in our childhood
You spoke my mouth
Try Top rameen
@@puneetkumar5328 rubbish ! Chings is far better tasting compared to Maggie. Maggie is horrible tasting stuff.
True
@@edwinrodrigues9747 Chings is a total trash..Bland taste, blahhh...Maggi is heaven🤑
Marketing started the visibility process but it is the Maggie masala and taste which differentiates it from everyone else. We tried all instant noodles but nothing came close.
