    can i use water or destilled water for thinning the colors out? I also have some acrylic paint colors which are very like creamy, can I use them when thinned out enough?

    Thanks for the info. What about airbrushing on glass? I've read that most people use enamel paint on glass, painted on with a brush. What about using enamel paint in an airbrush? Cheers.

    Your thoughts on ISP [Isopol Alcohol 99%] as a thinner for Acrylic paint? Thank for the information on this video!👍👍👍👍👍

    • @c.j.4927
      @c.j.4927 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ISP, can be used
      I use 50% ISP, 50% distilled water and a couple of drops of glycerine.
      Works great for me and saves a fortune in buying expensive thinners that use exactly the same ingredients
      Check TH-cam there are a lot of mixes

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally have never tried or used a self mixed thinner as I have always stuck with the ones recommended by the manufacturer, that said I have heard many people have had success with their own mixes.

      @@AirbrushAsylum Give it a go mate
      99% ISP is $15-$20 a litre
      Distilled Water is $2 a litre
      Glycerine is $6 but you only use a few drops so it goes a very long way
      I add Ammonia free Windex to the mix as a cleaner too
      So 2-3 litres of thinner or Cleaner is $22-$23

    love using the trident paint, may I quickly ask can trident be used for eraser technique on synthetic paper. I know illustration paint is best but due to small storage area (ie caravan) I found trident paint is best for me and unable to carry too much paint Thankyou 😁🙂

    Thanks for the videos, they've been a big help. I've been airbrushing mainly with alcohol/oil based leather dyes mainly for sunburst and color gradients on wallets etc.
    Wanting to further my airbrush usage, though, so ordered the 50 ml primary set to start learning. One question I have. I have some angelus acrylics from past leather projects. Will the trident reducer work just fine with them? Angelus reducer seems crazy expensive to me.

  • @AlerrandroVegas
    @AlerrandroVegas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    i have createx wicked colors and airbrush colors, i paint on a4 paper size, usually, use 1 or 2 drop of paint and 2 drops of reducer and i can paint a lot, the paint is only 60ml, but i have painted about 60 potraits in 8 months and the createx paint container is not half full yet , amazing. Another point, is about checking paint chemicals, checking msds charts is important, for example, the medea com art paints for airbrush has 3% amonnia and smell horrible, the paint is good but the smell is just meh, some people maybe alergic to ammonia, or another chermical in the paint, even if u use a respirator, your hands will get paint on.

    Hello there.. I'm using proline paint.. can you review it.. because reduced it may vary on each color.. im using Gsi Creos 289 & iwata HPCH.. for lexan body.. i got trouble when came to fluorescent..

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment, I don't have any proline paint, that said look at the label and start with their recommendations then gradually add thinner / reducer and begin lowering the psi until you are happy with your mix. Hope that helps.

    Let's see if I've got this correct...I use primarily use createx paints and to make my badger patriot 105 perform better do a 1 to 1 ratio and keep around 30psi .. and that will make airbrushing a little easier?? I'm the guy that uses your technique on fishing lures

    • @c.j.4927
      @c.j.4927 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Experiment with different mix ratios and PSI
      See what works best for you
      I've been airbrushing for over 40 years, after that amount of time, I can look at the paint consistency and know whether it needs thinning or not and PSI
      This comes with years of experience, like anything...

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would start with the 1:1 ratio and then keep adding thinner / reducer and lower pressure as you do so until you find a happy medium. The perfect mix really comes down to your skill level (can you control thinner paints), psi and also the temperature where you are painting and whether or not you are airbrushing in a humid climate. Hope that helps.

The online course is based on the intro course we used to run over one full day however due to 'no time restrictions' I was able to pack in more info into the online version. The course is designed for anyone...doesn't matter if you are a cake decorator, traditional artist or even wishing to airbrush miniatures you will learn all the basics which are SO important and you can then apply that knowledge to your desired airbrushing application, hope that helps.

    Some times when I spray, the paint will have a tacky sticky feel to it, even days later, any suggestions?

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This used to happen to me with the t-shirt paints years ago which used to have flex additives in the paint and other products which made them sticky, you can try spraying over the top with a sealant of some sort Createx have a great sealer's / clear coats which should help just jump on their website to select which one is best for you.

    Nozzle size dictates WHAT paint you can use, period. One nozzle size can’t do all paints and all details!
    A Video on nozzle size and the paints needed would be a substantial help to new painters, then they would know what airbrush’s to buy, yes you need more then one normally!
