    I was told it really don’t matter what brush you’re using it’s the artist that makes the difference and that makes sense.

    I never, ever thought I would be able to draw pencil thin lines. Always thought you needed a VERY expensive airbrush to achieve that. After months of trying and failing it just clicked one day and they started coming out really thin. This video makes me wanna practice their techniques cause there is always a new way to do something.

    Thank you so much for this video. I'm fairly new to the airbrush. Mixes and air pressure relationships are still a little of a mystery to me. This cleared a lot of that up. Can't wait to give these processes a go.

    I've been watching all your videos, as well as from others, trying to find a new airbrush to get started back. I've played with airbrushing before, using a Badger Crescendo 175, but I'm not a huge fan of the siphon feed. After numerous reviews, from yourself and others, the GSI Creos PS 289 seems to be the best fit for both my budget and skill level. Thank you!!

    First: is Trident paint good for miniature painting? Second: would a lower PSI be better for miniature/model detailing? Thanks very much for your videos!

    So the Createx Co. recommends no more than 20% reduction. Will reducing that 1:1 affect durability of the paint film? Or should I just follow their recommendations? Thank you

    Another excellent tutorial from Airbrush Asylum!👍
    I noticed that on my Harder Steenbeck, when removing the last nozzle (needle protector?), it was easier to get the color on my models.
    Also, get a cleaning kit for the airbrush - it really does help a lot. Other good brands are Vallejo, Ammo Mig Jimenez. I think even Tamiya has good airbrushes.
    Make sure to get a compressor with an airtank - you will thank me later.
    If you are into modelling, a spray booth is also something good. When using color, read the contents before use - sometimes you need a respirator so you don't inhale toxic and/or dangerous fumes.
    Also some colors require thinning, some base coates do not. It all depends on maker. I mainly use Ammo by Mig Jimmenez, non toxic, easy to use colors (Gundam painter).

      ALWAYS wear a mask, even just for acrylics and most definitely ALWAYS use a respirator and airbooth if spraying lacquers or enamels. If you don't have an airbooth make sure your area is well ventilated and wear a mask to keep the air circulating. Many people think that because acrylic paint is dissolved in water, and other things, that is is safe. Atomized acrylic paint can enter your lungs and over a long period of time it can build up and it will not break down. Old dog from the Fine Scale Modeling forum shared on the forums that after years of airbrushing acrylics without a mask he started experiencing shortness of breath. An X-Ray showed he had a 2 inch by 3 inch patch of acrylic paint built up in one of his lungs and there was nothing they could do short of major surgery to remove it which they did not recommend. Please be safe , everyone.

    Lacquer paint also sprays and dries differently then water based paints in my opinion when airbrushing.

    I know you do it by eye, so did you allow for the volume displacement of the marble in the bottle. I would hazard to guess your mix is more like 20/80!

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great point and no I didn't think think about the marble 🤔 It is quite possible that the mix was slightly different, but either way it will work just as well and you will need to adjust according to your temperature and airbrushing skill level.

      This is where I have a bit of a problem, too many people are stuck on the numbers, 3 drops of this 7 drops of that, I throw caution to the wind and let loose. So what if it does not match, it’s a variation of the same colour, it creates character and texture! I love working this way!

    I struggle with fine detail which I’m trying to improve.
    My challenge is when I first pull back on the trigger, it can spatter before spraying smooth. I try to keep the tip cleared as that seems to be the obvious issue. Any suggestions on how to consistently have a clean fine detail spray?
    Even with a recently deep cleaned brush, I cannot do small dots. The thickness of a pencil is about as fine as they’ll be and it’s inconsistent

    awesome this is just what i needed to see today i been trying to paint thin lines i have iwanta with the .3 tip can i paint thin lines with this airbrush i got it for christmas ? its so humid here in the south i think that plays the biggest factor with me with the cheap harbor frieght air compressor i see fog in glass with water.I just paint fishing lures but want to get better without stencils

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that could be the issue , as I mentioned over thin your paint and that should help with your humid conditions. Also, make sure you are running moisture traps to stop the moisture coming through your airlines 👍🏻

    Hi, I stumbled onto your channel. I have a iwata neo 0.35 nozzle, and I cannot get fine lines. I take the nozzles are thousands of a mm?? How can one measure the nozzles as I have some I bought at an auction, and surprising the needles aren't bent at all, but don't know the size of them. Would I use a caliper and measure the nozzle or the needle. Thanks, awesome work you do

    What about adhesion with the high mixing ratios

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great point, I never rely on just allowing the paint to dry (cross link) when using waterbased paints, I always spray an inter coat clear (House of Kolor SG.100) over my art before masking and or two pack clear coating as it also was great for a little extra protection when transporting automotive parts for final clear . That said you can get away with not using it but I like to make sure that I have the least possible chance for any lift off when masking....keep in mind that prepping is the most important thing, if that is ok then you shouldn't have any issues.

      Thanks for your reply. I bought one of those rechargeable airbrushes as I am a beginner. Didn't think much of the airbrush that came with it so bought a new brush that came with 3 sizes of needles which is much better. This is the unit that came with the air screw that I asked the question about. As I get better will probably get a compressor.
