Great pointers. The issue I have with distilled water is drying time. I use 99% IPA for my acrylics and it helps with viscosity but also has a added bonus of short dry times. The side effect of the IPA - supper matte/flat finish. Once I clear coat - it looks amazing.
Great tips, I’m a newbie to air brushing and had been buying airbrush paint and cheap acrylic paint thinned with the thinners, now I’m off to get some distilled water and try that. Thank you
That’s great. There are also some great airbrush channels out there too so you can learn even more. I recommend Barbatos Rex and airbrush asylum they have great channels too.
some brands will make a thinner that is just distilled water with a tiny bit of a product called a wetting agent, which is similar to a detergent. So if its clear and smells like soap or is a bit bubbly when you shake it, distilled water will be fine. They just wont recommend it because profit margins.(this is mostly just vallejo and a few other companies) Also most detergents are wetting agents. More reason to not drink paint.
Good morning sir a bit off topic But you are my videos of choice so here goes .I'm painting a scandavian mounted knight THE horses blanket is giving me fits .It disent have much surface detail and I'm truly struggling Dru brush disent work I'm kinda lost.thanks for listening
As a fellow craft painter painter... I have gotten pretty good at this, if I do say so myself. Yes, it takes a little more effort, but to me... if I can do with cheap craft paints the same thing that the "experts" do with their expensive toys and paints... who is the better painter? 🤷♂ While these videos are informative (for those who don't know), I really do miss your actual painting videos.

Nobody ever talks about what the different size needles are for.

Thanks for the comment. I’m working on some painting vids. Hopefully have some soon.
I'm a big fan of money in my pocket. specially when this is just a hobby for me and the models are mainly for my enjoyment.
Do you have a link for the paints
No the paints are cheap acrylic paints purchased at any craft store I go to hobby lobby or Walmart to get mine.
