  • With just a single engine option available, Honda is playing it safe with their Elevate SUV. There is going to be no diesel or hybrid option, but a full-electric version which is 3 years away from now. So is this 1.5L NA petrol engine coupled to a 6-speed MT or a 7-step CVT good enough for the moment? Watch our detailed drive review video to find out...

    Unlike Maruti, Hyundai and many others Honda IVTEC always delivers more mileage than ARAI figures. I used to get 20-21 kmpl on my Amaze Petrol 2019 model with company claiming only 19 kmpl. Honda IVTEC is the best petrol engine👍

      Absolutely correct . My amaze MT Ivtec arai claim is 18 kmpl . Highways at 80-85 kmph I have got 21 kmpl tank to tank . On the mid it was showing 21.4

      Same with my wrv petrol too.. Company claim is 16.4km/l, but am getting an average of 17.5kms/l and in highways am getting around 19kms..

      @@SHIFTINGGEARScom Sir, CVT + paddle shifters or MT, which is better is highways. Mine wud be highway driving only. I already booked Elevate MT but after seeing ur video, I am thinking whether to take CVT or not. My priorities are rapid overtaking, hard acceleration (quickly attaining 0-100), responsiveness etc. So Is CVT (in S-M mode) as quick as Manual? Kindly advice. Thanks in advance.

I need a SAFE Vehicle with Upright high seating so that road ahead of immediate vehicle in the front is also visible for safe manoeuvring. Also i keep cars for 10-15 years before changing to next one. WHich one suits my reqmt best. Maruti Jimny or Honda Elevate?. Pls think of wading in city or highway flood waters too inmonsoon, Can honda manage these ? Jimny can definitely can take care of flood part. Pls advise.🙏

    Hello Dear,Always Loved your videos.
    Can you pls compare city 2023 MT vs elevate MT ,in terms of driving dynamics, ride comfort,body roll , suspension and overall feel in cabin for all 4 passengers along with driver..mileage is also concern along with Ground clereance..Pls advise.

    • @SHIFTINGGEARScom
      @SHIFTINGGEARScom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Drives just as good, or may be better.
      Ground clearance is fantastic.
      Ride quality is super comfortable.
      Body roll evident compared to city, but well in check.
      Gear ratios are different and so are the electronics functioning with respect to the size and weight.
      Mileage will easily be double digit, typical of a Honda.
      Cabin is easily good for 4 healthy adults.

    Parichay, I own 2016 Honda Jazz 1.2 i-vtec manual. My biggest gripe are lack of power with AC and 3-4 people onboard. Also, ride quality on rear seats is choppy on Mumbai-Pune expressway and there is lost of road noise and engine drone experienced in cabin. Does Elevate addresses these problems if I were to upgrade?

    • @SHIFTINGGEARScom
      @SHIFTINGGEARScom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cabin is not as quiet as in the Korean competition.
      Ride quality is surely better than the Jazz.
      But power, is just about acceptable. Not bad, but nothing great at all.
      From a Jazz, you would surely feel like an upgrade. But competition offers much more, so you might feel a bit unhappy about that.
      Just for reference, from a Jazz, I personally would upgrade to a Kia Carens. Best of features, engine options & space.

      @vid111 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      CVT + paddle shift is not equal to manual. If you need sudden acceleration get city petrol manual. CVT don’t not have number of gears like other transmission system. 1-7 paddle shift gears are just virtual. Ideally the gear changes will not happen in steps like other transmission, it will be continuous

    Hi. Since you own a city, you're in an ideal place to compare this to the city. How are the ride dynamics as compared to the City? Is the interior so much better or on par considering besides color changes, pretty much everything is the same. Is ground clearance so much of an issue on the city, that you need to pay a premium for the Elevate? i See features like all 4 one touch window missing on the Elevate compared to the CIty. Any other ommisions? Is this so much of a better product compared to the city for the price premium, not to mention the discounts you'll get with the city. I see this as a city with a higher ground clearance with the sacrifice of real world mileage of almost 2kms per litre with possibly the ride dynamics inferior to the city too with the higher GC. do clarify the finer comparison between the two. I only ask cause i feel you'll be able to get the city for almost 1.5 lakhs cheaper than the elevate with no highlight to justify that price besides higher GC and different color interior.

    • @indranilchatterjee4492
      @indranilchatterjee4492 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even I have the same question and feeling regards the city and elevate

    • @SHIFTINGGEARScom
      @SHIFTINGGEARScom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      We have no issues with the City, even with the GC. Only problem is the DPF, which is only related to the diesel. But the diesel engine is now gone.
      The Elevate rides very well, and given the roads & c-grade speed breakers built by illiterate contractors, the SUV body adds to your peace of mind.
      Interior quality is at par, slightly more premium feeling thanks to colours. But no exceptional additional feature in there.
      If you don't have very specific taste, and want to save, but want a Honda; then the City is a great product. Not to forget that at the Elevate price, you could possibly buy the city hybrid.
      Only omission in my opinion is ventilated seats.
      Panoramic sunroof makes no sense in our hot weather anyway.
      Both the City & Elevate, will be comfortable for 4 & a squeeze for 5. But you can haul more luggage in the Elevate.

    • @jay2die4
      @jay2die4 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SHIFTINGGEARScom Vindicated in believing you were the right person for this reply. Thank you for your more comprehensive 2 cents. If the price isn't too far away from the CIty, then maybe Elevate will be the choice. Just slightly put off with the idea that same not so powerful engine on a heavier, roader tyred, less aerodynamic package, where power may feel even lesser.
      Hybrid was the obvious choice for me until i realized, it negates one of the main advantages of a sedan which is boot space. Elevate with a hybrid would've been a great success imo.
      Also, hybrid thanks to the taxes i feel is hard to justify the value. Feel it may be priced about a lakh and a half to two lakhs
      too high.
      Appreciate your thoughts. Cheers :)

      I have city and test drove elevate. Elevate is underpowered. Sudden acceleration and overtakes are fantastic in city not so good in Elevate especially in CVT. Moving from city to elevate seem to be a downgrade to me than upgrade.

    It's discouraging to see elevate without hybrid. Honda entered so late into SUV Segment that too with half hearted features. It's disheartening. Thay can plan EV 3 yrs later but could have covered these three years with hybrid model with competitive features. Then there was strong possibility of killing all rivals in suv Segment.
    Hopeless entry of Honda into SUV Segment.

    Elevate have single point to survive from seltos..
    Lowest price is most important factor for this car good sales.
    If Price start from 10lk then..Honda will survive from seltos.
    Yes.. is More lower then Honda City price... but No need to worries about city sales.
    Because Sedans are Already died.
    In higher price
    Kia seltos have better features list in compare to elevate.. so higher price is harmful for elevate sales.
    High price and low features surving brand Example.
    Nokia, Kodek , ford india. all this brand think that they are reliable.
