I'm loving how smooth this game is. The flying is not only interactive, but it also makes you feel like a genuine star fighter pilot because your skill with flying is key to survival and killing enemies. It's so much better than the Starship Modes from Battlefront 2. Fully fleshed out and beautiful. I don't mean to sound like a bot, but all I've seen are good things from this game. I haven't had any bad experiences so far.
REMEMBER the tractor beam has a limited arc to below and the sides of the ship, the tractor beam pods on both the ISD and MC75 are adjacent to the hangar bay. The ISD has very limited firing arcs behind it. Destroying subsytems also deals some hull damage to capitals.
This is the best tips videos for Squadrons I've seen thus far and I've watched quite a few. Thanks for your analysis and I subscribed to your channel as a result of this video. Great work!
Best Tips Video thus far. Will you please make one explaining how to read the HUD info since they are different in the variety of ships, like a legend for all the gauges and monitors.
Thanks for putting this together! You need all the instruction you can get with this game. I've been playing DCS World for 10 years, and the pilot workload in this game is WAY more intense-My fingers have to fly around adjusting the avionics way more than they ever do in an F-16 or an A-10. It is genuinely harder than DCS World in some ways and it fuckin RULES.
Only just got this game but I'm already delighted because I sense there are some on the dev team that also fell in love with a little PC game called X-Wing :)
is there a way to repair the capital ship in fleet battles? Sometimes i here a voice "your capital ship can now be repaired" or something like this when the battle is shifting back to the enemy...
Ty so much for ur tips. I haven’t discovered this channel until now cause it’s crazy how the most underrated and less viewed videos are sometimes better than the others more famous ones. I founded the advanced power management that you explained so well rly interesting which I will try to use next time I play. You’ve definitely earned my subscription and a like.
Never go gamingbolt or IGN etc. For reviews they normally have journalists doing the reviews who only game casually and think COD is the be all/end all
Would love to see you make an in depth video showing the calculated benefit to using the Advanced Power Management setting. To see if 2 pips is really worth the added hassle of learning the mechanic. I remember for BF2 you did these videos where you tested the weapons and grenades to show that the ION grenade was overall a superior grenade for consistent damage output
It's certainly something worth looking at, for now all you need to know is that because shields will never recharge when under fire, and more pips only impacts shield regeneration not overall strength, it is a waste to have any pips in them unless you are going for full overcharge before a fight.
@@4FSGaming wow i didn't even know that thanks! so wouldn't it make sense to use the Advanced Power setting to put more pips in your Fire Power and Engines (after you've overcharged your shields)?
That's what I do, it gives you a lot more toughness for hit and run attacks. Shield overcharge decays so slowly you don't have to really top it up unless you take fire.
A one time hassle to learn a skill will never top the benefits now matter how insignificant. It's when the hassle is constant that you need to consider that, and even then unless you can spend that energy into something more productive like a better technique then it's still worth it.
Elite Dangerous taught me power management, thing that got me was the adjusting from front to rear shields and accidentally shifting them without realising, vr doesnt help as it inst in view most of the time.
Good video... i am new a month after it was released... the mp is hard when you are a level 2 fighting level 80s lol. I unlocked those lasers you said not to use.. gonna change those and do it the hard way. Tganks. New sub here
Haha, it's ironic the update was announced and Squadrons came out on the same day! But for real I've been anticipating this game for ages, even ordered a X56 Hotus a month ago.
I always thought the two spherical towers on the Star Destroyer were shield generators, but that makes no sense when I think about it. I think they're supposed to be radar domes. The shield generators would be in a less vulnerable spot wouldn't they?
Nope, those are canonically shield generators. The radar array is the flat antenna between them. I'm no lore expert but if I remember correctly the reason they have to be so exposed is because else they'd fry everyone in the tower, sort of like reverse testicles.
I use a controller and after periods of aggressive maneuvering I'm always finding that I've jacked up my throttle by a lot.. I'm conscious that I do it but can't seem to stop the habit...😥
@4FS Gaming, awesome video, thanks man! Question about advanced power management, how do you 'activate' it? I'm on PC and using a HOTAS and I can't for the life of me figure out which command it is to bind a button to. I've tried looking online but to no avail. I've figured out and mastered power shunting in a TIE (the control command for that is Convert Power) and I would've thought it would be the same command, just for Republic ships, but it's not. Any help would be much appreciated.
I didn't like the flying gamemode in the Battlefront games, so I didn't get this one. Since it was free on ps plus this month I figured I'd download it, and I was really suprised at how fun it was.
Hello, I want to ask, what do you use to control the ships? Mouse+keyboard, HOTAS or gamepad? Still not sure if I will buy this game, so making little research.
Currently using an xbox elite controller, any controller should work absolutely fine, as this is what the game was really designed around. The paddles help but are by no means needed. I have ordered an X56 Hotus, and will experiment with that when it arrives. I used M+KB for about 3 minutes to try it, I don't recommend that setup but preference trumps everything I suppose.
@@thelife1313 Definitely would be awesome. I don`t own a VR set - But I have track IR I use in DCS, so far as I was searching on internet, this family of devices is not supported now. This would be nice feature.
I usually play combat flight sims, so I got a Warthog. It's really nice, but tricky to get used to the rudder pedals, while aiming. I usually don't need them to aim when flying a jet.
I just can't aim and it's so frustrating. No leading circle or anything. Any tips for that? I tried the auto aim and I know it's not smart like you said.
Although there is no leading circle, the targeting cross-hair will go red when you are leading by the correct amount, try and pay attention to the direction in which your target is moving to keep the cross-hair in the red.
Only ships without shields can power shunt, which is a completely different mechanic to transferring power pips normally. The only ship that can *kind of* shunt power to shields is the Tie Defender, because it has a special auxiliary that can boost subsystem power.
The way I look at it is the direction you’re always going is down thanks Ender’s game the book not movie remember in space you can choose any direction to orient yourself.
This game is a bit odd to me. It seems very deep in terms of its systems. Its almost not casual. Coming into it as a veteran of Ace combat and playing a good few other space flight games I find myself out of my depth with mechanics I recognize but not mastered. So it seems like it would at least satisfy purists and it would rope in people from parallel genres. But All the content made on this game basically ends shortly after it released, Much like the actual support by the devs. So it seems the game did not keep people sticking around despite its seemingly appealing mechanics. I'm very puzzled as to why that is. Its not like something came out to rival or replace it. And theres certainly not been a wave of amazing games that would have overshadowed this to such a degree. It just seems like people entirely dropped off the second it was clear the devs werent going to expand on it? I'm honestly kind of worried about this. Is that the fate of all games that are mechanically great with good content but lacking post launch multiplayer content drip feeds?
Star Wars squadrons was all right so far but bigger ships 🚢 come out nowhere little ships get stick in between gets glitchy totally badly later ships blow up star over missions again that no fun at all
This has to stars out of 5, not because it's a bad game, but because it's soo damn hard to control. There really isn't enough controls on a controller to play it. A pro, would be changing shield position, and power output all the time....but we only have one thumb...how can we fly and aim, as well as pressing shield buttons and power output buttons constantly. I've tried every possible setting and none of them feel correct. It's extremely aggravating. It's like you need two brains and four hands to play properly.
"Smashed out the campaign on Ace" huh....ok... Advanced power management is a waste of time, you can accomplish the same thing as you described with only 2 clicks.
How? There is no way to remove all power from a system without using advanced power management, unless you change some key-binds that are not even available on consoles.
@@4FSGaming There is though...its not hard... Put all power into 1 system, then put all power into a second system, third system will have 0 power...perhaps you should consider another career.
Yeah, check your settings and you will find you have advanced power management selected, that's what it does! Basic power management will just put one system to full and the others to two pips each.

I’m a big fan of Squadrons tips on this channel since tips aren’t this good anywhere else and who doesn’t like Star Wars?
I used to make a lot of videos for Battlefront 2, so this seem like a natural progression even though they are fairly different.
REMEMBER the tractor beam has a limited arc to below and the sides of the ship, the tractor beam pods on both the ISD and MC75 are adjacent to the hangar bay.
The ISD has very limited firing arcs behind it.
