I know there were a lot of issues with the game around it, but I was a huge fan of the star fighter mechanic in Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed. The ability to completely build your own craft , manage your own power distribution, and add a droid for added support was really engaging. You could even use jumping to hyperspace during combat to get you out of tough spots, which was an incredible level of immersion to me at the time. I never leveled up enough to fly the YT-1300 because I wasn't a huge fan of the ground based game, but the customization and feeling of freedom in the flight part still stands out for me as one of the best.
Ace combat has always been one of my favorite game series, star fox and Star Wars fighter pilot games were always fun. Love playing battlefront 2 and the flight missions were fun in campaign. So picking this up was a no brainer.
Quick tip for MP, as a rebel, put all energy on shields once you spawn to overcharge them, never do this mid fight though... in those cases go for weapons or engines so you can either outgun or outrun your enemies
Star Wars Squadrons was a lot of fun, highly underrated, I enjoyed the single player campaign, the graphics were amazing, I feel it came right about the same time as New Generation consoles were coming out as a result many people overlooked it, still I would recommend it to any Star Wars fan 👏
My fave was rogue squadron on the computer, especially with the number of different ships you could fly from across the series, including the naboo interceptor from episode 1

Just got this in a bundle on the PS Store. I’m having tons of fun. I loved Rogue Squadron as a kid so this has some nostalgia. I use a cont, I’ve had no issues with it. Lots of stuff to remember. Just running through the story now to get the hang of everything. Definite learning curve. But once you play a bit everything g seems to fall into place.

I know some people are having a few issues , but I must of gotten lucky , playing with duel Joysticks this game is amazing . Every I was hoping for a more , the gameplay is deep and there is a bit of a learning curve , but this only adds to the longevity . Amazing 10/10
@@KevinMCable It was amazing. The resolution and clarity wasn't as nice as playing on the TV but it was a small loss when compared to the excitement of visually tracking tie from the inside of an x-wing. I've never played anything like it
My only gripe and I mean it’s trivial. I wish it would alert the enemy when we are locking onto them, only because you will get the people who will then prematurely fire their counter measures thus allowing us to fire a missile and not have a big countered. This was a thing in Battlefield 4 where you’d lock on to someone and they would deploy flares early thus allowing you to fire a heat seeker without them being able to deploy more flares in time. Small gripe. Not a huge deal. Loving this so far.
Jake you have to play it on a joystick. Feels great. I love the one to one feel of this game compared with the old xwing and tie fighter games. Really feels like a love letter to the old series.
Now I cant remember which game it was (it was on psp) but it was a starwars game that had like an open-world-ish part where you could fly a bunch of different ships, I personally think it's what squadrons aspired to be without coming close. That PSP game nailed the space flight so well and it was only a small part of the game. Squadrons, while fun it's just "eh" it gets deep into the exact thing we didnt want it to, but that's EA for you.

So picking this up was a no brainer.
i gotta disagree with ya Jake, i honestly i feel like controller is the way to go and im on pc.
I usually feel that way with flying, sports and racing games.
Same here, I couldn't aim to save my life with a mouse. Swapped to controller when I tested the VR and the controls just clicked
I really like the controller on this game it's really nice the mouse and keyboard I couldn't aim to save my life.
I've always felt this way with every flying game lol I can't imagine it ever feeling more natural with keyboard and mouse
Thank goodness, I thought I was going crazy. I definitely feel that controller I the way to go with flying games.
Do people actually play this on mouse and keyboard?? I cant imagine not playing on controller or HOTAS
I totally agree, I tried keyboard and mouse and xbox controller. Xbox controller for me way better than keyboard.
Hotas is missing keys its more immersive but I already have a rift s so it's good enough controller works perfectly
Well hotas does not come cheap ..
Misterkint Sad. I got my Hotas X for $39. Same one is $80 now.
Some people have to because they can't get their HOTAS to work with the game correctly (huge deadzones and other issues).
The VR is something else! Got emotional the first time around hahah
Quick tip for MP, as a rebel, put all energy on shields once you spawn to overcharge them, never do this mid fight though... in those cases go for weapons or engines so you can either outgun or outrun your enemies
Jake: “We’ve been putting out a lot lately”
Everyone: 😏🤨
As someone who plays a lot of Elite: Dangerous, I really hope I can change the pip settings
This sincerily speaking looks like an overhaul to the Flight Fights on Star wars the old republic online, that for me is perfect
well said
Star Wars Squadrons was a lot of fun, highly underrated, I enjoyed the single player campaign, the graphics were amazing, I feel it came right about the same time as New Generation consoles were coming out as a result many people overlooked it, still I would recommend it to any Star Wars fan 👏
👍🏼
The drop in drop out VR is the coolest part. Switching between the two couldn't be easier.
My fave was rogue squadron on the computer, especially with the number of different ships you could fly from across the series, including the naboo interceptor from episode 1
Been playing it a bit, its pretty fun tbh, ill watch the vid anyway cause its gameranx, hopefully they'll add more content down the line, cause 6 maps arent gonna last long
Wendy [f.u.ск мe] ТАР 0N МY РIC stfu bot
i think the maps will last a long time but yeah eventually they need to add a few
@@jamesrivera4105 gotta love bots lmao
Yeah
First time I've ever seen it at 8 seconds ago
I like the dog fights in Battlefront 2
The only thing that is missing from this game is the ability for my chair to shake while I’m playing.
I love this game but Project Slypheed was my all time favorite piloting game.
"I don't recommend using controller"
Then what the fuck am I supposed to use? A PS2 steering whe-
"It's much better with mouse and keyboard"
Oh yeah, I forgot that was a thing
If I were to invest a lot of time in this game I'd buy a joystick.
NINTENDO LABO MOTORCYCLE
I clicked on this faster than the cameraman in flash can run
The flash is real? 😳
REDEEMERWOLF he is??!!! 😳🥵
And no game will ever beat Pandemics BF2. The space battles in that game were hectic and landing on the enemy ship to take out their systems from the inside out was amazing
Nah, the galactic conquest mode in this one is really unbalanced, if you win once it's gg you'll always win.
I know it’s 3 years later! But who else goes to BEFORE YOU BUY is our go too ❤!
Players have said this before me, but: THIS is where I go before I decide whether to pick something up. Thank you, Gameranx. Keep doing what you're doing.
Star Wars Squadrons: Youre gonna have to do alot of power management here.
Elite Dangerous: Am I a joke to you?
I bought the game yesterday since it was on sale for $24. I think it’s a really fun game!
On what? I’ve looked at it on the oculus 2 and can’t find it even tho it came out in October. Don’t know if I missed something... do u know something?
@@levisummersett1530 I got it on Xbox back in mid November
@@levisummersett1530 It’s on the ps4 store rn, for 23.99$ but I got the triple bundle with squadrons, bf2 & the fallen for 50$
@@abrahamcabral6752 any way I could hook and oculus 2 to that and play squadrons?
It's on ea play for ps4 now.
I freggin love this in vr! I need friends to play this with me tho...
I know some people are having a few issues , but I must of gotten lucky , playing with duel Joysticks this game is amazing . Every I was hoping for a more , the gameplay is deep and there is a bit of a learning curve , but this only adds to the longevity . Amazing 10/10
Just picked this up this evening. Brings back the old Tie Fighter/X wing vibes from the 90s
Finally get to play this for free on Gamepass 🔥
This game is amazing in VR! Like holy cow I can't imagine playing with out my PSVR
This game is on psvr? damnit! XD
@@KevinMCable It was amazing. The resolution and clarity wasn't as nice as playing on the TV but it was a small loss when compared to the excitement of visually tracking tie from the inside of an x-wing. I've never played anything like it
My years of Elite Dangerous about to pay off
Holy cow, right now it is like a little more than a dollar. 95% sale is crazyyyyyy
Every time i wanna get info on a game i want i swear i go directly to this channel its like my game guide thanks for these bro 💯
Glad you enjoy it!
The game is disappointing but it’s still kinda good
I beat the entire campaign in VR and it was astoundingly cool! A must buy for VR owners.
When you’re using VR does it show the whole interior when you look around?
@@Travel-Adv of course!
@Awesome! Sold, thanks!
It is cool, but the campaign is shit. Dont try to tell me that you saw nothing wrong with the characters and story arch.
@@sheepinwolvesclothing7909 Story was decent. I'm just playing for the overall experience though, it definitely has the original trilogy feel.
I've been playing with psvr all day, it's great. It's definitely right up there with Elite Dangerous and No Man's Sky!
It’ll be cool if they added a clone wars dlc
Hmmm I can't remember but were the ships different in clone wars?
@Ty Peterson not really. You can add a droid interface, something similar to what the terminator saw and it would work great imo.
it would be cooler if we could get the damn game on switch!
@@Sharky_0456 I don't think Switch would run the game well.
@@janmakowiecki8204 they could dumb down the graphics though
This is exactly what I have wanted since I was five.
Playing on HOTAS and it's fine for me. Every button and axis is redefineable.
Power management between thrusters, weapons, and shields, sounds like Elite Dangerous: Starwars edition
It was in the old X wing, Tie fighter games.
And SWTOR's Galactic Starfighter
Actually the concept was introduced waaaay back in Tie Fighter and X Wing.
I have to disagree. I find it easier to play with a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard.
VR is a game changer. I spent the first 20 minutes of this game just looking around all the different cockpits and fanboying hard
Oh baby, last time I was this early starwars was still good.
at least its good in this game
It still is
@A Character Little of it is, at least.
@@samhyatt4863
The campaign is stupid af, appeals to SJWs
i am so starved for a new rogue squadron that im going to give this a try, mostrly because of the points given in the video.
I’d actually say don’t play with kbm, since you can move slightly more precisely on controller
The video: BEFORE YOU BUY
Me: *Watches right after buying waiting for it to download"
I'm watching this while downloading
