I love this single and mv. I also love Key. I’ll even go as far as to say he’s my bias in Shinee. I’ve always appreciated his personality and his work in the group, but his solo work really sealed the deal for me.
Wait till you hear the rest of the album which is along the same vibe as this. Key said he'll be doing a concert at some point for this some back too. He also has a birthday event coming up.
The shinee movie is due out. Plus Taemin has a new album and solo concert out around October with Minho it will be a solo single . Onew is still on hiatus due to health issues
The cute fuzzy red, pink, purple and blue monsters you see in Key's "Good & Great" MV, which are called BOK-SILLee, have sort of become Key's mascot, ever since they were first introduced as part of his Gasoline album merchandise and concept. (You can actually purchase those monsters as little stuffed toys.) Toward the end of the MV, you see Key dressed like a BOK-SILLee as he tries to break free from the boring life of the working class.
Fun fact: During SHINee's 15th anniversary promotions each of the SHINee members had an animal that represented them, Onew's was a baby bunny, Taemin's was a chick, Minho's was a tiger cub and Key's was a baby BOK-SILLee. How I interpret the "Good & Great" lyrics and MV is that Key is experiencing the monotony of life as an average person who spendings every day doing the same things. Like most people, to keep motivated he keeps telling himself, "I'm good, I'm great ..." I should be grateful because I have a job and I'm getting paid. But as we see in the MV, life is a never-ending loop like a character in a game or the robotic life of an office worker. We see him smiling, looking happy as he tells himself that "I'm good, I'm great," but everyone he is interacting with just keeps nodding along until their heads fall off, representing how they are not really being fully engaged in the conversation or whatever task they are trying to complete, etc. Day in and day out life is always the same, we just keep going through our tasks, trying to get ahead, with little to no recognition from anyone except ourselves. Which is why we see in the choreography that he pats himself on the head, because the only encouragement he gets is from himself.
As you probably noticed, "Good & Great" is the beginning of a new music style and concept for Key. Including his Japanese album and repackages, Good & Great is his 6th solo album, so he said he wanted to try something new. This song, and the whole Good & Great album, is so perfectly Key. It never fails, no matter what he does, it always feels like it was meant for him.
Yet again, everything from his outfits to the backup dancers looks, to the set designs and story concept, as well as the song lyrics, and the whole album was designed or chosen by him. Key is involved in the entire creative process when it comes to his solo work and everything you see and hear is what he envisioned for this entire album concept. Every aspect is all part of his design. He always puts things that represent him in his MVs, such as his love of The Sims, etc.
With this song, Key made people start posting on Tiktok in the challenge not only dancing, but also everything they do, i.e. work, relaxation, walking, running, their pets are just happy and that's what good music should do.

Key really is a class of his own…dare I say, it’s of a SHINee caliber. The entire album is phenomenal with his incomparable retro flare. No one does retro as well as Kibum. No one. (Please remember these are my opinions and yours may differ-I respect that. Please respect mine.) Anyhoo… the album is full of groovy, spacey, house sounds with lovely synths and dance flows. The vocals and raps are, as expected from anyone of SHINee, top tier. I cannot wait for the choreo to these songs!!! I honestly wish we could get MVs for each one because they’re all dynamic…I love how Kibummie not only puts out great music, but pairs it with great stories, as well. Each of the songs is strong enough to be a title track, in my opinion, but GOOD & GREAT really does set the mood and was the perfect choice among them to represent the album. Just another day in Keyland with the G.O.A.T!!!
As a working class, this is really relatable. Thats why i like KEY, because how genius he is & all his work. Especially "The Sim" transition scene, i like it. 🗝️👑❤

This MV resonates with so many people that work "9-5". We love Key's mantra/reminder that we're "good and great". In fact, I saw a social media post from a person who passed this MV to another colleague that was having a rough day. That colleague loved this MV and is going to also share it with others! Even though Gasoline/Killer album is my favorite, I love Key for who he is and for staying true to himself.
The album is so good (all his albums are, actually). I recommend you listen to "Can't Say Goodbye" song, 'cause it has amazing bass guitar and synths sounds. "Live Without You" is also a great song. Again, this album of his has disco and 80 vibes, which I love so much! Thank God that he continues to sing retro vibes songs, you know what I mean? How could I forget to praise his vocals?: In one word: Amazing! Hope you consider to react to his new album.

As somebody who adores Key and considers him one of my ult biases, this was.. not for me. Like at all. It was not good or great. 🤣 I'd compare it to Jisoo's solo track Flower. Also quite basic and relatively lackluster, with no bombastic vocals or interesting production, but she gets a pass because the melodies of that song are addictive. You hear Flower once and it's stuck in your head all day. I can't give Key the same pass because the melodies of this song are not addictive or memorable, but with all the same shortcomings.
I have a high expectation of him because he's one of my fave soloists, and I can't speak for anyone else, but this was by far his worst release imo. That's not to say it's terrible. I'm just nitpicky and this missed the mark of my personal taste. It's the first Key comeback that will not go on the playlist and I'm unlikely to listen to it again. But there's always next time. He pumps out music every 5 or 6 months so it's not like we have to wait long for more Key. I do love that about him. He's consistent.
So yeah, feel free to disagree or argue with me. Lulz. Also, the MV was pretty boring, but I suppose he can't put out Gasoline visuals every time. That mv has some of the best visual design of any music video ever made, so coming off something that stunning to him dancing in an office building... 😬 Idk. It's hard for me to find anything I liked about it. I normally try to avoid negative comments, but I had to get this out because of how disappointed I am. This song ain't it.
did you listen to the album? i'm not a big fan of the title track either but really liked some b-sides. honestly it was the same for me with Gasoline, the title track was a skip for me (although MV was impressive), but that album is probably my favorite album of his. i learned to never judge releases by title tracks alone
I don’t entirely agree with you but I get where you’re coming from. It’s no Gasoline, that’s for sure and probably my least favourite of his singles but I do still like it and there are some gems on the b-sides. Live Without You is gorgeous.
But I get how you feel as I just had the same experience with NCT U Kangaroo. 😂 Like what we’re they thinking? NCT is in my top three groups and I especially love NCT U songs but a bunch of grown men dancing kangaroo choreo, pretending to plot their escape from the zoo is the most cringe thing I’ve seen this year! So I relate to your disappointment even though I did enjoy this song. 😅
@@kristenblack6026 NCT is ur TOP 3?! Yikes, I'm so sorry for you. Their music has gotten so bad over the last few years I'm surprised anyone is still an NCTzen. I can't think of a single title track I've liked since Baby Don't Stop. I like a lot of their solo projects tho. I actually made a mashup of Taeyong's Ghost with Bibi's Vengeance earlier this year that goes pretty hard. (Inserts shameless self-plug) 🤣 I like Mark's solo stuff, and Jaehyun. And I think Doyoung has one of the most stable voices of any male idol. Like I feel you, they've got loads of talent, but it's my opinion that SM wastes their idols' talent on mediocre music. At least most of their soloists are decent. I can't say I enjoy any group under SM.
@@universe986 haven't had the chance yet. I was purely talking title tracks. I typically like his b-sides so I'll give those a shot when I have the time. But I liked Gasoline a lot. It's probably my second favorite, with Killer being first and Bad Love at third.
