    The Bird is not only the greatest all-around basketball player of all time, but he was also the ultimate warrior athlete of all time. He sacrificed his health to play at 200% from start to finish.

    Your reaction to the mouse in the house was especially funny. You just know that must have really got a good chuckle from the other players as soon as everyone else heard it yelled out.

    Bird didn't care AT ALL about the stupid comments they made. He hated that the media attention to it created a distraction while the Celtics were preparing to play the Lakers for the championship. As his remark at the press conference indicates, he was surprised that these people cared about something, supposedly on his behalf, that he cared nothing about.

      I heard a reporter talk about an interview he had with The Bird, and asked him why he never said "no comment" or "off the record." The Bird said "I don't read what you write or care what people think."

    As with all great competitors, you find a way to win. Bird was slow compared to other players but made it up with accuracy and ball control. The greats regardless of the sport find a way to win.

    To think Larry Bird at 35 years old with a fractured spine took those words from Rodney Rogers and made the rookie eat them. Larry Bird made him eat crow. I would just love to hear what the other dream team players had to say about this incident.
    Don't forget Larry Bird was the elder statesman on this team.

    Love seeing the younger cats learn about this dude. If more people did, everyone would know this guy is a top 5 all time. Hes 2 behind MJ in my opinion.. baddest white dude ever. All the greatest players will tell you this guy was no joke.

    YOUNG MAN - Look beyond your narrow view ..... even M.J. said that LARRY WAS THE BEST PLAYER ever ..... he would know .... he got schooled too. It's about desire, ability & Shot, Pass, Steals, Hustle & heart ..... Larry was a complete player and cold hearted assassin - especially in the clutch.

    That's one of the reasons Isaiah didn't make the Dream Team. Jordan didn’t want him, Bird didn’t want him and even his friend Magic didn't want him. 😮

    I remember when Jamal Mashburn went to the Celtics. Being from Ky and being a Ky Wildcat fan where he played college. Also I was a big Celtics fan. I was just getting out of the Army at that time and had a well paying job offer to move to Boston and work. I regret not going so I could watch the legend Bird play in person.

    Because Isiah backed Rodman dumb statement, he wasn't given enough credit for the player he was. He is a great leader, very unselfish , and made players look better than they were. The bad boys were a great team. And with Boston, a young Jordan's bulls , LA, brought the NBA back

    People did fear Larry Bird-- he would embarrass guys out there, but in good fun usually. But in those times, for a guy to dominate or embarrass you like that was bad enough--but for a white guy to do it put it on a whole different level and guys got so frustrated, they would foul HARD or even totally lose control and get violent--but Bird ALWAYS seemed to stay in or come back from those hard fouls or violent cheap shots (when he didn't get ejected) and win--literally everytime. In 1980, when people were talking about great players or the best guy in the game, a white guy was not never in that discussion and if someone did mention a white guy in those talks for some reason, they would be laughed at. So Bird turned things upside-down by breaking down what, up to that point, was a pretty legitimate stereotype. Black guys in 1980 were just seen as having an advantage over white guys at basketball to the point that a white player couldn't be the best in the game--that was basically 'common knowledge' to all people. That added to the fear aspect for Bird's opponents--especially those who had to defend him. Then you add in the trash talk to be endured during the critical moments of the game--unnerving. That is part of Bird's legend guys can still have a hard time talking about today. Dennis's and Isaiah's 'black guy' comment was the private made public 'sour grapes' response to the reality that Bird had their number and was better and the legend was real. I am the first to admit Bird doesn't 'look' the part, but he is undeniably the GOAT and the toughest guy to ever play.

    imagine dealing with the racism he dealt with and still went out and talked that much trash lol... he could have destroyed rodmans and Isaiahs career but he brushed it off... the only unfortunate thing was 2 things.. his back injury and bias death... bias death takes away a Celtics repeat and possibly mchales spiral... birds back.. bias.. and a healthy mchale most likely stops the badboys before they begin and they are just the 80s version of the 90s knicks.... bird however got his silent revenge when he canned Thomas's ass in Indiana lol

  • @eddiehaskell1957
    @eddiehaskell1957 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dennis Rodman's comment is just that, a comment. He's allowed to have an opinion. We all are to have an opinion. You don't have to like it, but when you tell people they're only allowed opinions that you agree with, then you're on your way to stopping free speech. That is very dangerous.

M.J. never beat Larry Bird and he's only won 4 game's in his career against Larry Bird and 0-6 in the Playoffs. 6 Years Straight Larry Bird was 2nd in the MVP Voting and the next 3 Years He Won MVP NOBODY ELSE EVEN COMING CLOSE.
