    Fred Rogers was able to turn a roomful of hardened Hollywood veterans into crying children within a few seconds. I’ve seen this clip a million times and I’m always bawling by the end. This was truly a man of God.

    “And then he lifted his wrist, and looked at the audience, and looked at his watch, and said softly, “I’ll watch the time,” and there was, at first, a small whoop from the crowd, a giddy, strangled hiccup of laughter, as people realized that he wasn’t kidding, that Mister Rogers was not some convenient eunuch but rather a man, an authority figure who actually expected them to do what he asked… and so they did. One second, two seconds, three seconds… and now the jaws clenched, and the bosoms heaved, and the mascara ran, and the tears fell upon the beglittered gathering like rain leaking down a crystal chandelier, and Mister Rogers finally looked up from his watch and said, “May God be with you” to all his vanquished children.” - Esquire.

      He really was a special man. So loving, compassionate and good heart. I watched his show when I was a small child in the 70s. I had a strict, domineering tough guy father. • @sapherno11
      @sapherno11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not a trend, you can blame TH-cam and coppa for that. Basically anything that could possibly in the most vague man or relate to children, has to follow certain guidelines and TH-cam or they run the risk of their channel being shut down permanently. So with something like a kid show or with a lot of other stuff that touched on stuff like that they had to turn disable comments because otherwise their channel could be forcibly shut down by youtube. If you look at the copper restrictions it's absolutely b*******.

    Esquire Magazine's take was excellent "Mister Rogers went onstage to accept Emmy's Lifetime Achievement Award, and there, in front of all the soap-opera stars and talk-show sinceratrons, in front of all the jutting man-tanned jaws and jutting saltwater bosoms, he made his small bow and said into the microphone, 'All of us have special ones who have loved us into being. Would you just take, along with me, ten seconds to think of the people who have helped you become who you are ... Ten seconds of silence.' And then he lifted his wrist, and looked at the audience, and looked at his watch, and said softly, 'I'll watch the time,' and there was, at first, a small whoop from the crowd, a giddy, strangled hiccup of laughter, as people realized that he wasn't kidding, that Mister Rogers was not some convenient eunuch but rather a man, an authority figure who actually expected them to do what he asked … and so they did. I really loved Mr. Rogers. If it wasn’t for this God-send of a man, my childhood would have been even more unpleasant than it was originally. It couldn’t be more evident in this day and time (2024) that we need more Fred Rogers’ on TV in to carry that special light ✨✨ into our children’s lives just as we had

    We live in divisive times so it'a sometimes very hard to find common ground. But one of the few things basically everyone can agree on is Fred Rogers. He opened a barrier between us all regardless of our petty differences. Proof positive that love and kindness are infinitely more powerful than anger and hate. Fred appealed to everything inside us that is good and decent.

    I remember watching Mr. Rogers neighborhood but I never watched it for very long because I always wanted to go outside and play and I now realize that it only took a moment for him to make you feel better about youself.

    What a beautiful speech it makes me think about people that have been in my life that helped me who believed in me. One of the people outside of my parents what's my math teacher Mr Bruce noblitt. He was the only one who really got it through to my head the the math that I cried about because I didn't understand and he asked me was I going to give up as I was welled up with tears I felt so embarrassed that I didn't understand but he got through to me and I did end up graduating. I graduated late but I graduated

    Pretty cool to actually see all those millionaires and people of power be lead into a moment to think about those who have come before them with only a tenth of a fraction of their own wealth, sacrificed for that person, and now they are in those very seats as the 1%. Rogers was a powerful man in his simple convictions.

    OMG I cried from begining to the end of his speech what a gentle soul, I watched his show as a child everyday in the 70s. He was so pure.
