Bianca's coming out on All My Children as well as Erica's "woman of the year speech". Carla the light skinned black woman passing for white from One Life to Live.
Mr. Rogers was our father when our father was away working. Mr. Rogers was our grandfather when we needed advice from someone. But most importantly, Mr. Rogers was the friend we wished we had in real life. I loved watching him on tv.

Shame on you for not including Susan Lucci's 1999 Daytime Emmy win. It took her 19 nominations before she finally won, and when she did, she got a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes and her speech left the audience in tears. It's one of the greatest acceptance speeches of all time, at any awards ceremony.

Not all evil people live long. Jesse James was about 34 years old when he was killed by gang member Robert Ford in 1882.
Bonnie and Clyde were in their early to mid 20s when they were shot to death by lawmen in 1934.
John Dillinger was 31 when he met his death at the hands of FBI agents in 1934.
Then there was Charles Whitman, who killed his mother and his wife on the night of August 31, 1966, and then the next morning, went up on the observation deck of the University of Texas in Austin, the Capitol of Texas, with a box full of rifles and ammunition and started firing down at the people down in the streets, killing 13 and wounding 33 more, until a team of Austin police officers and civilian deputies managed to trap and shoot him to death. He was only 25.
A lot of good people lived to a ripe old age, like Presidents George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, scientists like Albert Einstein, great actors, writers, singers, composers, philosophers, etc.
Life may not always be fair, but it isn't always unfair either.

@AJ To me, the most powerful statement of his speech was when he said, "We don't need to bop somebody over the head to make drama on the screen." All the children's TV shows that I grew up watching on PBS, Disney Channel, Nickeldoeon, etc., shows like Arthur, The Wild Thornberrys, and Hey Arnold!, probably would've never existed if he had never said those words.
Viola Davis on how to get away with murder was like watching Laurence Olivier do a school play. Her presence was massive. You understood why and how she is one of the greatest actors of this generation.
Yes, Susan Lucci's win for best actress at the daytime Emmy was epic. That was back in 1999. Sudan had been nominated 19 times consecutively and always lost except for that year. Actor Shemar Moore made the event more exciting by presenting and yelling "the streak is over, Susan Lucci." Everybody got up and gave her a very long standing ovation. She rightfully delayed the commercial break to politely finish her speech. Yay Erica Kane. I will never forget that day.
I never met Mr. Rogers in person, but seeing him nearly every day of my childhood, I feel like I've known him my entire life. He set an example for so many people, myself included. Every time I feel angry or sad, I always think about Mr. Rogers and what he would say. He was, and let's be honest, is, a truly beautiful human being. I can't even call him "Fred." He will always be Mr. Rogers to me.
I am STUNNED that Susan Lucci's win (after 19 nominations) is NOWHERE on this list...

I still can't watch Mr. Rogers speech without crying. The impact he had on my generation was immeasurable. Service, humility, and dedication, that was Mr. Rogers. I loved him like my own father, and still do. They're both Home now, and I still miss them both.

Fred Rogers was also a Presbyterian minister. He was not just a children's TV host. There are a million of those. He was so much more. I could discuss that but would be here all weekend. :)
I didn't know that, I still watch his show sometimes. I'm glad he was a minister tbh and not just a kids TV host. Now we've lost Joanne recently too. I hope their kids continue their legacies.

Fred Rogers was just everything good and right that a person could possibly be. Standing in a room full of, let's be honest, some of the most cynical people in the world, he asked them to be quiet and think about someone else. And they did. I don't think there's anyone on the planet who could have commanded or, frankly, deserved that level of respect. I miss him.
That's because he asked them to think of the loved ones who supported them, not people they didn't know. He's done it twice, and believe it or not, the other time was even more emotional.
So do I.
Susan Lucci's acceptance speech for finally winning an Emmy should be at least an honorable mention.

I thought that was a great Series. I thought Sarah did a great job playing Marcia Clark. I do think that the Goldman were treated badly in the Movie. I thought the father of the Male Murder Victim was very brave in seeking Justice for his Son who was killed tirying to save the leife of a Woman who was basically a stranger to him. I thought the Movie made him look stupid.
I met Henry Winkler, my childhood hero a few years ago. He was the kindest, most fan friendly & appreciative!! He thanked us for having him & for coming.

Fred Rogers speech was so NOT Hollywood, yet Hollywood responded with astonishing deference. The puppeteer in the sweater and tennis shoes, was the most powerful man in the room.

Jharrel winning an Emmy was the happiest day. He and the rest of the cast did a phenomenal job.

Brilliant, beautiful Fred Rodgers. I sent the parents of my preschool students to him, I watched him with my own children. I watched him after my children had left home, just to hear him say, "I like you JUST the way you are." Bless you, Fred Rodgers, I always have and continue to want to be your neighbor.

If I remember correctly this was when they had Jeff Erlanger present the award (which I think Fred had no idea) and Mr. Rogers jumped up on stage and it was like Jeff was the only person in that room Mr. Rogers was so happy to see him. Rest In peace to both of them

Susan Lucci finally winning after years of being nominated should have been on the list: surprised it wasn't in the top two or three. Of course, this list is only someone's opinion and nothing else.
I just love when they zoomed in on the cast of 30 rock when Tracy Morgan hit the stage. I have no doubt they probably started that standing ovation.

Mr. Rogers definitely deserved the #1 spot! Fun fact, if you love the Zombie genre, then you can thank Mr. Rogers for playing a small part in helping to get it started. "Night Of The Living Dead" director George A. Romero worked on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood filming some short movies for the show. It was Romero's first paid gig out of college.
If there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, Mr. Rogers is the only person we won’t have to worry about. Even as one of the undead, he’d still be a class act all the way.

The Central Park 5 at the Emmys has not gotten enough credit. That should be a moment played over and over for the world to remember, especially those who put them there.
When I saw Fred Rodgers on the stage, I cried a lot of tears. He inspired my childhood to one of my favorite PBS Kids programs on tv back when I was 3 or 6 years old, his kids show, Mister Rodgers' Neighborhood. I liked the way Mister Rodger helps kids and adults care about each other. I am sad to see him retire from his job. Sabrina Griffin. :(

I thought it was very rude when he announced the streak is over. I am happy Susan won, but Shemar was very rude with that remark. Just my opinion
Whenever I see someone cry, I cry too. I wish Fred Rogers was still here with us!!!! I remember being the only one watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood when I was a child.

I was teary by the time we got to Robin Willams. I was out right sobbing when Fred Rogers started talking. When I was watching him as a young girl, not so great things were going on, but being able to imagine myself somewhere else helped. Thank you, Fred Rogers. I will always be your neighbor.

My oldest sister met Mr. Rogers through her work. He took her and a co worker to lunch. She said he was just as special in person as he was on television.

You had to have Mr. Rogers as #1, didn't you? I grew up watching that and Sesame Street. I was just watching and enjoying the video until that one. You made me CRY, MsMojo. But Mr. Rogers was amazing. He brought so much love and joy to the world. We are all so much less without him, even after all this time.

Mr. Rogers' speech was wonderful, but I was more moved by his reaction when Jeff Erlanger rolled out in his wheelchair to introduce him. Pure joy. "What a surprise!"
My son is three years old and we still watch Mr. Rodgers neighborhood even though he isn’t here his teachings are and what he says is still valid to this day. As for the list he is the only one that can stand there forever and not only keep the room quiet for him to speak but the music won’t even start till he starts walking off stage.

Mr. Roger certainly inspired many many people in his lifetime. He spoke to children as people in a way they could understand. He helped us learn in ways that school just couldn't do. He helped us all learn about ourselves, our feelings and most importantly about what humanity really is.
Thank you for being our neighbor, Mr. Roger.
Edit if you haven't seen it, watch his reunion with Jeff Erlanger whom appeared on his show as a child and wasn't expected to make it into adulthood. Mr. Roger's immediate reaction when seeing Jeff on stage was so awe-inspiring. He really loved all the children.
Okay this is scandalous. The topic is Emmy moments, daytime or prime time that made us cry. How in the heck did Susan Lucci's 1999 win not make the cut. One would think it would be no. 1 if not at least in the top 3. Her win was a tear jerker (and that seems to be a major part of the criteria with the noted title of this post) to the point it was announced not only on the news but at sports and entertainment events that evening in 1999. The fact she won for daytime "only" transcended all of the world. Even Academy Award winners had noted her losing streak and one even sent her an Oscar to keep until she won an Emmy. She had a two minute standing ovation and people were crying all over the world - like her or not, like her acting or not there was such emotion as she had lost year after year of nominations, countless jokes and parodies she had Oprah and Rosie in tears. The audience was over come with emotion even from her fellow nominees. Such a huge miss and blunder. This top ten list probably loses a lot of crediblity with this miss. Yes the others including Fred Rogers are deservedly on the list but to miss Susan Lucci's win is a big loss.

Mr. Fred Rogers was the epitome of excellence in speeches. Look at the video of him addressing Senator Pastore! Pastore is initially snarky to Mr. Rogers, when he basically ignores the remark and continues on his campaign for children television funding in a regal manner, Pastore listens and grants him what he wants! We are all grateful for that!

Growing up I wasn't a Mister Rogers kid. I watched only occasionally.
As an adult coming back to real life after a lonely mental breakdown I would just soak in his kindness and listen intently as he told me it was ok to be myself.
Mister Rogers helped to heal my low self esteem and taught me how to love myself and others once again.
Mister Roger's Neighborhood was my church. Thank you Sir from the bottom of my heart.

Lets all be honest, we all jumped to #1 to see if it was Mr. Rogers. Nobody else deserves the quiet respect, or the tears from years of memories like Mr. Rogers. Take 20 minutes and search for an episode of his show and watch it. It will make you feel appreciated and cared about like when you were younger. Please take a moment and remember him.

Since the narrator talked through most of it I wasn't able to hear their speeches enough to know. So, none of them brought me to tears. Next time, let me hear the speeches in their entirety.
