It's really annoying to me how destroying an enemy garrison isn't rewarded reflecting the impact it has on the game. 5 measly points is nothing. While destroying a garrison can mean you literally won the game. I hope they reflect that sometime soon.
Should be only exp points. Because destroying the garry it self is a massive win. if you early destroy two deffending garry, thats GG. your team only has to arty strike and attack the point and they wont have any respawn.
Yeah, it sucks. Still. Makes assisting (or playing as) an engineer the only adequate way to upgrade most roles. Kind of sad, but, at least, we have "Bob the builder".
A properly played sniper team can utterly destroy the enemy by taking out nodes, garrisons locating armour and massed troop movements. Communication between the sniper to spotter to commander is absolutely key.
...or you can team up with two buddies, pick roles with satchels and play terrorists. The idea is similar, but you will be able to blow up vehicles, nodes, garrisons, defences - and disappear before enemies even start to realise. Bullying arty included.
I love pretending to have a satchel and mess with tanks hoping they get out to try and kill you but killing them instead. Doesn't work most of the time but the rare times it does its sooo sweet!
Bullying enemy artillery is incredibly fun, especially when they send armored vehicles after you. On Stalingrad (as Germans) my friend and I hid in building occasionally killing their arty as they sent an armored car to go look for us. They were very mad.
I hate it. It's so boring. All you do is sit there and shoot them. Eventually they get bored of it and stop spawning there. You wait 5 minutes for them to come back and nope. You go somewhere else and then you start hearing the dreaded boom boom boom followed by the commander moaning about artillery. I wish they replaced artillery with mortars or something so I don't go out of my way too much for them.
Wonderful video! Full of great GREAT tips. As a level 10 spotter myself, I concur with everything you've said. Although, I would say (on the subject of building red zone garrisons), don't necessarily wait until you're in position for the garry before you ask the commander to drop the supplies. Plan ahead, anticipate where you're going to go and get the commander to drop the supplies a long time in advance of when you're going to be there. You're much less likely to encounter the enemy that way. e.g. Let's say you're playing Allies on SME and the middle point is the church, which is in German hands. If the next point is Western Approaches, pick your spot behind that point and get the commander to drop supplies there while your own infantry muster their push on the church. The enemy is going to be so involved in defending the church that the likelihood of them having anyone around the back of Western Approaches is pretty remote. You can take your time going on a nice long flank around the church and still get to the supplies in time before your own forces capture the church. As soon as they do, you can drop your garry immediately (likely in a spot where the enemy have no idea you are) and begin capturing the next point almost immediately. This tactic is especially useful if you can get your sniper to find the enemy garrison in or around Western Approaches and take it down while the fight for the church is still underway.
Personally I don’t need this video, but it it’s extremely helpful to new players and I think that all new players should understand the role before hopping in to specific roles. I see (too often) low level players taking both recon squads and they end up on the frontline just farming kills.
Great guide, the more people we can get playing Recon the CORRECT way, the better. My only suggestion from what I saw would be to not place the spotter OPs anywhere near "ant trails" or roads.
Yea, that's a good tip. You definitely don't want your OP being found, so staying away from roads is a must unless there is something like a building to hide it behind. Thanks for the kind words!
Recon can win and lose games in some cases. We once had art raining down on the middle point which was in our control but we couldn’t move forward due to heavy art meaning we were just stuck inside picking defending our point through windows. Took about an hour for recon to get there but I think their main issue was going in guns blazing
Last game command was asking snipers to scout where the next point would be after we take the current. When they found it command drove supply trucks and built up Garry’s. We were able to take the second point almost immediately. Everyone just responded while the other team was falling back or trying to get kills. Added bonus is makes it hard to engineers to prep a location if they are under sniper file. Spotter ambushes supply trucks along the main road to the point and sniper takes pot shots from range.
lol. 'each node takes 84yrs to despawn...' I just went through that last night when we found a node! Great vid bro. Helped a lot. I didn't really understand 'taking out the artillery' until now.
Glad you found it helpful man! And yea...finding nodes is exciting...until you realize it's going to take a damn century to disable them lol. And you have to sit there still holding F. At least if you could destroy them by being within 10m or something you could scan your surroundings and defend yourself. Or look at your map and plan your next move. Oh well. It is what it is!
I always watched Monospecial and Terrydactyl videos to get better, now I can add SoulSniper to my collection :D Great vid man, hope more people will see that and mainly learn from that. See ya on the battlefield.
My main strategy with recon is to pick my spotter role, let a friend pick sniper, and move us around in a giant flank and position ourselves behind the enemy somewhere safe. From there, we see EVERYTHING! Tanks, troop trucks, their spawns, we ping and call out everything on top of directing my sniper to drop MG’s, squad leaders and other snipers. A good Recon squad is one of the most valuable assets to a team, PERIOD.
mee too man! I go spotter, my buddy goes sniper, he posts up as i get deeper into enemy lines/ destroy garrys. I love the ability of sneaking around placing slippery OPs
As unpopular as it might be, it might be best to simply remove the scope from the recon class so I can’t continue to devolve into a “sniper” class. The recon squad still has plenty of amazing perks and players would still pick it. But too many players simply want the sniper scope, it’s a class that gets picked faster than even commanders and tankers.
Getting to play recon is frustrating. I’m always denied in locked squads. It always puts me as the scout when I wanna be the sniper. Or I get to be sniper, but the scout never talks. Finally today after many games, I got to play one good game as sniper with a good scout.
What I find the most infuriating about some players who pick recon ONLY to have that sweet scoped weapon but still just play like an ordinary rifleman in midst of the battle. While such engagements might occur at times.. IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO FIGHT THERE! I've seen snipers with over 130 sniper kills in a game, but then they have only one or two destroyed structures (aka a garrison or outpost). Doing actual recon missions by scouting out well known or logical locations to destroy garrisons or call in aproaching tanks is way more useful than those kills you made, because they will respawn shortly after. For opposing recon squads, you know you're playing against an effective recon team when you have to constantly check up on your defensive garrisons in order for them not to get destroyed by enemy recon and your team getting steamrolled shortly after.
You said it! I’m usually just the supplyguy but I watch the map and can see the disaster in the making when garrisons and supplies all disappear behind us and nobody seems to notice or care. I call out my fear, tighten my chin strap, and attach my dogtags to my boots.
Great vid. I like playing recon with my son but he doesn’t quite get that camping and snipy wiping a squad isn’t very helpful compared to other games lol.
Then don't kill them as soon as the players spawn. Wait for them to jump on the arty gun, or actively come hunting you before you shoot them. Very few servers would have an issue with that tactic.
That made me laugh. I found 3 enemy nodes on my own as a new player. Was so excited to get rid of them. Then I tried…. Pretty sure enemy tanks and men went past but I just refused to look around and lose progress. They would have to kill me! But they didn’t seem to notice.
@@addictedfoolgamer1970 haha we've all been there! Just a leach attached to those nodes, being as still as possible. I wish you could turn and engage enemies, then pick back up where you left off. Maybe as long as you stay within like 10m of the nodes you don't lose your progress or something.
I think my best game as recon I never fired my weapon once. But holy crap did i spot a lot of things for the commander and cause a ton of headaches for the enemy.
my brother is a fantastic spotter. I think we work really well together because hes just the perfect spotter for me. Im a poor shot but my brother makes it mad easy for me.
Anyone can do it, but a regular squad leader can only place an outpost 2 grid squares deep into enemy lines. Recon can place theirs anywhere behind enemy lines, so it's generally considered recon's job to take out arty.
I was playing on your server spotting on hurtugen forest and my sniper did not wanna go anywhere but the action 💀 Still got 6 nodes but I think we coulda done a lot more if we had worked as a team
If you make it all the way to enemy HQ you should be able to disable their artillery somehow at least temporarily. That would stop people from camping them. From my experience once the enemy team knows you’re camping back there they just stop coming at some point. Then you’re just sitting at the back of the map for nothing, and it’s frustrating having to either redeploy or run 10 minutes back to the combat.
No one wants to play spotter and when you do get a spotter they're absolutely dog shit and have no idea what they're doing or don't communicate at all. I enjoy playing both roles, dismantling Garys, setting up Garys, getting behind enemy's and picking them off. Sometimes I wish the sniper could talk to command because I'll go whole matches without a spotter or I'll have 3-4 different people join and realize they're not the sniper so they leave the squad immediately. If you're playing recon correctly you should dismantle a couple Garys each game, take down some nodes and ops, get 20+ kills and set up Garys and OPs behind the enemy.
And here I am just barely learning the basic mechanics of the game. I haven't touched anything except regular infantry so far. I really wanna master how to be a good machine gunner cuz I think it's bad ass but haven't learned the art of it yet. I feel like I'm either too far away and don't see anyone or too close and get shot in the face after my first burst of fire. 😭😭
Drives me crazy lol. Such a chore. I'm excited to have found the nodes but then it's like fuck that's right. I'm going to be sitting here for 84 years now doing nothing.
@@SoulSniperYT Yeah and it could easily be fixed with atleast one satchel or a new kind of explosives that can't be place on vehicles and this would make engineers to spread out the nodes better, so it's still pretty balanced! And arty camping is just terrible, they should place arty in the middle sector at the edges so it would always be a fight for the teams of who is controlling the arty or just remove them and give Support/AT a class with portable mortar instead!
I can never actually be a sniper In the game. I'm always the spotter for some reason. I wait for someone to start the recon team then quickly jump in and I'm made a spotter
new players can really use this guide yes! I had a lvl 11 guy on day who just wanted a spot where i could find him kills so he could snipe them -.- I was like dude u got a lot to learn xD
I mean it's understandable that a newcomer with no knowledge of the game would assume a spotters job is to spot targets I guess. But yea...hopefully he sees this video!
You can always jump in a truck but it's hard to be stealthy with a loud engine. Otherwise if your commander places an airhead that is quicker. But yea, it can take a while to get there... Make sure you place Outposts as you go to basically save your progress.
This video in particular I was trying out a faster pace and the edit is also really quick. Check out some of my other role guides and I think you'll find the pace a little bit slower. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
I feel like some people take this guide way to close to heart. It's fine to defend as recon if your sniper is good enough to hold people back and the other recon team is doing other recon things. It's all based on the situation, like your team being good at offense. Especially if the server is not full.
I agree. My tutorials give suggestions on effective ways to play a role, but it doesn't mean it's the ONLY effective way to play them. Generally speaking everything in my recon guide holds up. But yea if another team is handling arty and you've got a good overwatch on the Frontline and are effectively eliminating targets, and more importantly, sharing information with the other SLs and Commander, you're still an asset.
Something like that would be a neat mechanic. If nothing else give us a small charge that can take out nodes! Doesn't need to take out tanks cuz that'd be OP, but I hate holding F for 3 minutes to dismantle a set of nodes...boring.
@@SoulSniperYT well it’s not that it’s boring, there just needs to be an incentive to help establish and protect them and if you happen to destroy them, grants perhaps a one time use of a command perk.
Arty should be able to get destroyed by recon teams with a special type of recon explosive. If they want to rebuild the guns, it should be at a high cost of resources
Sniper isn't available until the spotter role is filled. The spotter is the squad leader of the recon units. So in order to play sniper, you need to wait until the spotter role fills, then you can join as the sniper.
I actually played Recon for a full round a few weeks ago. I wasn't the sniper. But I tried to get behind enemy lines, tag tanks and garrisons. I would relay tags to recon tanks and they took them out, but since they took them out, my commander was calling us out for not doing our job... ummm look at your map! I didn't enjoy it, some commanders think they lose because of you, but win because of other squads, I'm sticking to AT and squad lead!
Yeah, I'm gonna be honest, you did pretty good. I just concluded a game where we backcapped their second to last while they threw everything and the kitchen sink at our mid, and our initiative won us the game. As for the conveying information, you're doing great! Don't mind the haters, man.
i disagree i think an officer and a infantry can also infiltrate behind enemy lines to take out enemy stuff, i need my snipers to 1. take out enemy machine gun fire so that we can push forward 2. take out enemy snipers that are taking out our MGs
What's the point of even having a sniper if it's better for him to not engage targets? At that point it'd be better to just have a rifleman with a satchel charge
A scope is also useful for gathering info like binoculars. I engage targets a shit ton, but I also understand when it pays to hold my fire and watch for a minute to see where someone is coming from, if there are more coming from the same area, where they are going, etc. Helps to locate spawns you otherwise likely wouldn't have found, and that's a bigger help to the team than killing a few guys then dying and redeploying at your OP.
I would like to actually play recon but all people do is hog it for the sniper and kick me out as soon as I get it been playing the game for a month and haven't even been able to see what the sniper looks like
I'd recommend joining a discord community and asking if anyone would want to play spotter. Have them lock a squad and let you in as sniper and play together as a unit.
@@SoulSniperYT yeah you can be “playing” he’ll let loose as far as steam is concerned and be sat with it minimized as you do something else, with just the main menu up
Yeah this is why I don’t play sniper in HLL, I wanna take my time, find a dope spot, stay there and wreak havoc for as long as I can from as far as I can. Yeah I play for the kill, cry about it 😢😂
I would love if recon could destroy nodes slightly faster. Also don’t camp arty 90% of servers it is against the rules to stay in last line for to long
@SoulSniper I really want to try the sniper. I'm already taking hella far shots, and flanking a lot, I feel like it would make it super easy. Just don't want people made it me when arty is falling on their heads lol
imagine that i only played this map once in 3 years.. where the fuck did this map go? only garbage i play is el sandbag, hurtgen forest, driel, snow thing and some other basic bitch maps. i just came back and am so confused
I hate those idiots camping and killing artillery , recon is to OP . you spawn and instantly killed not knowing where it came , i then spawn on other site and hunt them
Yea it needs an overhaul. The topic has been hammered to death so I am hoping the developers are working on some kind of solution. The leading suggestion by the community is mortars...
It would be great to actually play recon but it’s always locked by the dude who thinks he’s playing cod and tryna make an MLG quickscoping montage and not even playing the role.
I played spotter once and I spent 10 minutes crawling to flank a machine-gun/garrison. When I got into position all of sudden 10 blueberries(friendlies) including the current commander rallied behind me. Turns out they saw me crawling and decided to just follow me the whole way there for 10 minutes. Now when ever a see a spotter i ask if they need any help.
Lol i spent probably 15min trying to reach a guy i figured was pinned behind enemy lines...nope, just a spotter who told me to run back home to mommy 😂
1. Get deep into Enemy territory. 2. Remove enemy garrisons from behind whilst sniper takes Arty down. 3. When Arty hunt you go looking for nodes to let Arty area settle down. 4. Back to step 2. Rinse / Repeat. Note: Mark your Node / Garry before you start removing it on the map so if you get shot you know where it is and so does your whole team.
"Most people think the recon teams only responsibility is to eliminate enemy infantry." Are you sure? I just hear SL screaming about them not dealing with arty 24/7 lol
Most games when people complain about the artillery are when there are not enough garrisons built, your team mostly spawns on the same one, enemy spots them out on a recon plane/flare and they are juicy targets. So the solution against artillery is not only for the recon team to deal with it, but simply to build more garrisons. Also in most cases even if you deal with artillery, you don't have to camp it. Most artillery players are scared off after dying the first time.
@@eFse7en 100%. Whenever I'm on Recon I walk down the line where nodes usually are, check HQs, and every once in a while go to arty to kill one. They'll spend the next 5 minutes looking for me while I'm on my second set of nodes. Rinse and repeat.
I totally agree with this vid. I had a couple friends who didn't want to play unless I was the spotter and they were the sniper. I had to teach them that recon doesn't mean 360 no scope but it means you actually do recon. I always raise my eyebrow when someone showcases HLL with a sniper vid and say "look at all my kills". Recon is so much more tactical than that which is why I like HLL.
Exactly man. I do appreciate some badass sniper kills as well, but it's so much more fun to actually mess up the enemies plans by taking out ops and garrisons, dismantling supplies, nodes, etc.
@@jamesgames3969it's the truth. Watch how Jack plays recon. He doesn't play it tactically at all. Hell, he doesn't even keep distance with the sniper. He takes it straight to the frontlines.
@@HipixOFFICIAL I agree. He’s absolutely useless at it and sets a terrible example, especially for some of the new Game Pass horde. No tactics, just shooting like a simpleton. (Self-centred players like that will never run recon with me. No thanks.)
Yesterday I had the best recon game ever. We snuck behind enemy lines and set up OP near their HQs so we had constant control of information such as incoming Tanks and other vehicles and we had the Artillery locked down. Since we had placed the OP so close, we could constantly harass tankers and force them to fight us and every battle we won was another 30 seconds added to the tank's travel time. Since our commander was doing a fine job, we were able to have dummy supply drops and real ones, the real ones allowing us to place garrisons behind enemy lines and to completely surround them. Good fun, had one of the best snipers with me. Oh yeah and we destroyed all their nodes.
Nicest parts about being a console player you can count on 1. Your sniper never communicating and just going on his own for kills. 2 some douche creating a locked squad then never letting anyone in. Genius
You can simply make a squad with indication that microphone is required (after clicking the mic icon near your squad on the list) and remove anyone who's not communicating (small red dot before deployment). There are plenty of people who want to play as recon/sniper, so you don't need to settle on the fastest one to join.
@@eFse7en I agree. At the end of the day squad leads, spotters included, shouldn’t be afraid to kick players who aren’t interested in helping the team. It’s not ideal, but I can handle a silent sniper so long as they’re marking actively and helping where needed. Sometimes people in pubs cannot be on a mic (babies, language barriers, sleeping partners, mental health issues, etc.); I get that. If he’s just out to farm some kills, however, and is allergic to nodes, arty, and garrisons, he’s gone.
After beeing spotter for about 10 games I finally got in second and was sniper. The level 12 **** kicked me and let another level 12 become sniper. Probably his boyfriend... I swore i would regularly check that server and players and join the opposite team if i find him. Me and my shovel ;))
This is good stuff right here. I joined on the gamepass bubble, but have stuck around long after my buddies have moved on. HLL is my jam. I remember early on, me and another noob got paired up as a recon team it was my third time sniping and his first time spotting and while we had lots of fun and worked closely together our whole focus was on getting kills. And while we combined for almost 50 our team lost the game. I now know that If we had done half of the things you suggest here and gotten a third of the kills we may have won.
I really wish Recon teams exp is shared. I main spotter and getting my sniper 30+ kills and destroying literally a dozen nodes and spawns between the two of us really sucks when only one of us is getting something out of it. That blows since we're coordinating node destruction and it just makes sense to take out two at once since it doesn't go faster if you both partake nor do you share the xp.
I'd like to see XP reworked in general. Building and destroying garrisons should be big points, for example. Has a big impact on the game, and might help promote more of them being built, and more players looking for enemy garrisons.
@@SoulSniperYT Agreed. theres almost no motivation outside of losing for player do their jobs. engineers are incredibly powerful being able to build barbed wire fences and yet you almost never see them. Which is a shame
@@SoulSniperYT Even deeper here is the thought "Who needs a Sniper?" when others are doing the job of eliminating targets such as enemy garrisons and OPs. If the job duties are more spread out to the team then the real job base takes off. A sortta "Miss the water when t he well runs dry" scenario. Great vids as always.
Taking out garrisons and outposts wins games, and recon squads are well equipped for the job with the optics they have and the ability to place OPs deep behind enemy lines. I really enjoy playing recon!
Another thing that you didn't mention is to go to the next point that is locked and destroy enemy garrisons and request supply drops around the point, most importantly behind so when the team gets the next point then you just build 2 garrisons behind the next point immediately and overrun then since they have to spawn at the HQ. Really overpowered and not many people don't know how to do it. Like 30% of every spotter I see doesn't even know how to get behind the lines, they complain that they're getting killed all over again and they just run from the frontline garrisons. They are just making excuses so they can fight on the front line.
If you can't get behind enemy lines as recon, you're doing it wrong lol. The ability to slap down an Outpost anywhere behind enemy lines is like having the ability to save your progress!
@@SoulSniperYT I usually tell those that don't get behind the lines that they're wasting a recon squad if they're not doing their job and just fight with the infantry.
As someone who just got Hell Let Loose because of Gamepass, I was surprised to see Recon and wanted to try it, and for the first match I was the basic player, let my sniper take the shots and pinged enemy armor and infantry for command while not pushing too deeply into enemy territory, real safe-killer type stuff... A few days later I'm on Comms with command saying stuff like "Command, this is Recon, Enemy garrison is down, I'll radio in when I find these nodes." and so deep behind enemy lines I sometimes get close enough I feel like I could wipe the soot from their war dirtied cheeks. My sniper is a hundred or so meters away, taking pot shots and making the enemy go on a merry goose hunt while I'm in their garrison zones, snickering to myself as I take those lovely 80 odd years to dissemble every node. Recon Smarter, not safer.
I played with Recon in a server doing the exact guidelines you were pointing in this video, but our commander was a real pain in the ass (literally zero comunication) and there were no Squad Leaders speaking (only one toxic player talking garbage plus swearing a lot). It was a tough match😂.
When I play commander I tell all the recons to not expose themselves unless necessary’s don’t go for kills unless there the Machine gunners. Just spot and give me the info to lay the hate. In my book. A bombing run to save two guys is worth it. My job is to make sure they get to the objective and deal with any opposition. I’m either at the front killing tanks and giving commands or I’m watching there backs. I’ll drive a jeep on the front lines taking fire from everybody to get them focused on me. I coordinate with my men not just the officers. The officers tell me what the men need. I give you an order I expect you to follow it. But I will never put you in a fight you can’t win.
I’m playing on Xbox, only played for a week so far… has anyone here got experience using a keyboard and mouse on Xbox? I’m finding the movement to be a bit jolty, wondering if a mouse might smooth it out

That's war baby.

Then you see an engi make a video on how to make 70k+ in a match and cry.
Should be only exp points. Because destroying the garry it self is a massive win. if you early destroy two deffending garry, thats GG. your team only has to arty strike and attack the point and they wont have any respawn.

Yea, anything that promotes camping a spawn is not good. Mortars are the way to go.
@@SoulSniperYT Or just give recon a option to sabotage the guns which makes them unusable for like 10 to 15 mins etc.
Could make engineers be able to repair them too instead of just a timer.
@@SoulSniperYT Only issue I see with that is everyone will just play engineer to be arty so it won’t change the having to spawn camp.
Totally agree with that strategy! Good stuff there! 👍
Great tips for beginners and even more experienced players. Nice clip!
Personally I don’t need this video, but it it’s extremely helpful to new players and I think that all new players should understand the role before hopping in to specific roles. I see (too often) low level players taking both recon squads and they end up on the frontline just farming kills.
Absolutely! Feel free to share wherever, thanks!
Great guide, the more people we can get playing Recon the CORRECT way, the better. My only suggestion from what I saw would be to not place the spotter OPs anywhere near "ant trails" or roads.

So what u need to do with this class? This Video ist not understandeble
@@SoulSniperYT 100% agree. I subbed. Great job
@@NeightWolf49 awesome thanks for the support dude! More content coming soon. 👍
Love this channel. You make me want to try playing all the roles. I was hesitant to try, lest I screw up and get yelled at lol.
Don't be shy man, you'll pick up on it! Just let people know you're new to the role and I'm sure you'll get pointers. The community is awesome.
I always watched Monospecial and Terrydactyl videos to get better, now I can add SoulSniper to my collection :D Great vid man, hope more people will see that and mainly learn from that.
See ya on the battlefield.
Thanks so much man, flattered to be named alongside those two awesome dudes! Means a lot. Glad you're liking the content man!
Kill the nest, or the ants keep marching on!
Great video, just remember some servers don't allow spawn camping of arty or hq's.
Then don't kill them as soon as the players spawn. Wait for them to jump on the arty gun, or actively come hunting you before you shoot them. Very few servers would have an issue with that tactic.
"Each node takes about 84 years to dismantle" - so true.
Haha drives me nuts dude!
In case anyone wants a serious answer, it's 60 seconds for each node.
But damn does it feel like 84 years! ;)
Recon: What is my purpose?
Team 90% of the time: KILL ARTY
I think my best game as recon I never fired my weapon once. But holy crap did i spot a lot of things for the commander and cause a ton of headaches for the enemy.
Recon is short for reconnaissance after all!
Excellent thank you. Straight to the point I love it
Glad you liked it man, thanks!
Thank you for doing this. Very thoughtful and so helpful 🤝
cool video!
I wish they would add a mod where there is no commander and squads would need to work together to build garrys from support role drop.
You mean 70% of games since the game went ftp?
my brother is a fantastic spotter. I think we work really well together because hes just the perfect spotter for me. Im a poor shot but my brother makes it mad easy for me.
Brother as Spotter is the way to go!
Now this is something I could have fun with. Thanks for the video.
Great video, keep up the amazing work.
I always sneak around the enemy lines with a truck and camp the artillery as a rifleman😂Didn’t know there was a job for that lol
Anyone can do it, but a regular squad leader can only place an outpost 2 grid squares deep into enemy lines. Recon can place theirs anywhere behind enemy lines, so it's generally considered recon's job to take out arty.
I was playing on your server spotting on hurtugen forest and my sniper did not wanna go anywhere but the action 💀
Still got 6 nodes but I think we coulda done a lot more if we had worked as a team
Cool, all i need now is to get one of the recon spots
I have a video for that too lol
Very helpful
Glad you think so!
I agree. Being able to satchel the guns or something would be cool.
Awesome video dude :)
Thanks man, glad you like it! Subscribe and join the discord if you're interested: discord.gg/wUgVGWXtPe
"Each node takes about 84 years to dismantle" sounds about right
Drives me crazy lol.
Being able to blow up the arty with a satchel would be cool too
Thanks mate
Thanks for watching!
Artillery being free kills on me doesn't feel very fun either
i just put my head down for the whole match
I went to take out artillery and shot the commander beforehand and artillery redeployed before I could cover the 20 meters to them 😂
solid vids. subscribed
Hey, thanks Phenom! Loved your epic TRT run in the UFC. 👊😁
As a new recon player the 84 years to dismantle had me in stiches
Lol so true though!
Crossing the map as recon. Should I expect 10 tense minutes of holding the W key or is there a quicker method?
You can always jump in a truck but it's hard to be stealthy with a loud engine. Otherwise if your commander places an airhead that is quicker. But yea, it can take a while to get there... Make sure you place Outposts as you go to basically save your progress.
@@SoulSniperYT thanks for the advice. Been trying to get into the game and this is one of the only roles I havent given a try.
I really like your videos they're very informative straight-to-the-point the only thing I don't like you talk a little bit too fast
But yea if another team is handling arty and you've got a good overwatch on the Frontline and are effectively eliminating targets, and more importantly, sharing information with the other SLs and Commander, you're still an asset.
snipers should be able to carry a special explosive meant to destroy the arty's or just make the arty's destructible in general.
Something like that would be a neat mechanic. If nothing else give us a small charge that can take out nodes! Doesn't need to take out tanks cuz that'd be OP, but I hate holding F for 3 minutes to dismantle a set of nodes...boring.
@@SoulSniperYT well it’s not that it’s boring, there just needs to be an incentive to help establish and protect them and if you happen to destroy them, grants perhaps a one time use of a command perk.
how to change the options to see throuth the scope while aiming ? :D
Arty should be able to get destroyed by recon teams with a special type of recon explosive. If they want to rebuild the guns, it should be at a high cost of resources
I like that idea, makes sense and would cut down on the spawn camping. 👍
@@SoulSniperYT 🙏🙏🙏
I'm struggling to pick sniper class I can't switch classes it always gives me spotter I don't know how to change
Sniper isn't available until the spotter role is filled. The spotter is the squad leader of the recon units. So in order to play sniper, you need to wait until the spotter role fills, then you can join as the sniper.
How do we overhaul arty to make it better?
Im around lvl 90 and never was able to play it once.
84 years to dismantle a node is just too freaking long 😂😂😂
No lie. I'm tempted to just pretend I didn't see the nodes sometimes lol
Give it another shot sometime. Sounds like you had a bad commander.
Dont forgeth to check if spawncamping is allowed or you may get banned ;-)
This is true. Some servers have rules against it. My server allows it though.
"How to play recon in HLL...if you can ever get into the role before it is locked immediately by some solo person"
I've got another video on how to improve your odds at getting the sniper spot. :)
Does HLL log the amount of time you have played the game?
No, but Steam does. Although I'm a bit skeptical as to how accurate Steams numbers are.
Yeah I play for the kill, cry about it 😢😂
It's all good dude. Kills do matter, as does defense.
I would love if recon could destroy nodes slightly faster. Also don’t camp arty 90% of servers it is against the rules to stay in last line for to long
Yea that'd be good! I don't think it's 90% but yea, always check server rules.
nodes only take 82 years to take down don't exaggerate. I've long held the spotter should have a satchel
seems like it would be to easy to get those 30 kills plus get garrisons, arty and nodes
For a good recon team that's easy
Ao its only for nerds?
"Destroy enemy spawns"? What?
As a player of the game i never saw an enemy spawn so wtf?
😂
@@SoulSniperYT whats funny?
It would be great to actually play recon but it’s always locked by the dude who thinks he’s playing cod and tryna make an MLG quickscoping montage and not even playing the role.
And hence the need for this video ;)
Never mind I'm dumb
Lol read title as how to play Racoon
Yeah they run about in your yard and cause trouble lol
They need to make it so recon can disable Artillery with explosives. And add in a feature so that the spotter can revive the sniper or vice versa.
Thats gnarly. I have recently started playing as squad leader. When I see spotters im gonna take a page from your book sir!
Lol i spent probably 15min trying to reach a guy i figured was pinned behind enemy lines...nope, just a spotter who told me to run back home to mommy 😂
"Most people think the recon teams only responsibility is to eliminate enemy infantry."
Are you sure? I just hear SL screaming about them not dealing with arty 24/7 lol
arty is not exactly objective taking infantry.
I do appreciate some badass sniper kills as well, but it's so much more fun to actually mess up the enemies plans by taking out ops and garrisons, dismantling supplies, nodes, etc.
shade to JackFrags 😂😂 no offense, his vids are nice
@@jamesgames3969it's the truth. Watch how Jack plays recon. He doesn't play it tactically at all. Hell, he doesn't even keep distance with the sniper. He takes it straight to the frontlines.
@@HipixOFFICIAL I agree. He’s absolutely useless at it and sets a terrible example, especially for some of the new Game Pass horde. No tactics, just shooting like a simpleton. (Self-centred players like that will never run recon with me. No thanks.)
@@Bendermas1 Gamepass has ruined the community at the moment. So many no mics think the game is like Call of Duty.
Nice work man! A good round really makes you want to play a million more!
Happens plenty on PC too, often despite admins.
Thank you!! That is my absolute favorite role, Recon Spotter! Extremely helpful!
Recon is pretty damn fun! Glad you liked the video. Subscribe if you want to see more!

@4:20 I don't think that supply truck is getting very far, lol
It's a fairly simple game but all the mechanics are totally ambiguous and hidden. They need to make a tutorial or something.
Lol 'each node takes about 84 years to dismantle'
Can you recommend a discord sever for good teamwork and communications?
Why yes I can! dsc.gg/soulsniper
Recon Smarter, not safer.
damn your fps is bad :) but nice video do very nice!
My GPU is an ancient relic! I plan to upgrade when possible.
I thought I'd be wicked at playing recon but I definitely wasn't playing it correctly. Great video.
Honestly it take 84 years to dismantle nodes
Quite literally! I wasted my whole life doing it!
