I think RCL said screw you Juneau. I think they are smart. Wanna push us out? Fine, we will move. 2. The hat is a gift. Take it or not. This is total entitlement. SMH People are so ungrateful. 3. We dont take 4 day cruises lol. It is weird that Celebrity is doing booze cruises! Lololololol. I cant help but think it would be an expensive booze cruise. We dont do any cruises that are less than 7 days. We prefer 11-14! So glad you saved your tree. Thanks for the great content! ❤
Personally, I think these cruise companies need to do this. There have been so many problems with these ports and protesters that I do not want to visit these places that do not want me to come and spend my money. I want to enjoy my time visiting places that are welcoming and happy to have me. I live in Florida, and there is tourism here 365 days a year. I am happy and great full they are here. When I go to a place like Alaska. I want to take in a new way of life and be treated with respect and appreciation. Keep up the good work, Royale Caribbean !
Sounds like you’d be more than happy to visit a fake, plastic version of a country or city. Moreover, the tourist centres in Florida don’t have comparable populations to Juneau, Bar Harbor, Santorini etc. And that’s part of their charm in the first place. Isn’t the point that they want a sustainable number of people to come and spend their money? Besides, we are seeing cruise lines shortening port stays so the economic benefits are not always what they appear.
I've been a Floridian for 60 years! I realize you believe you live in a culture apparently that is more authentic than Florida. Clearly you've not been to Florida you believe that Florida is Disney world and nothing would be further from the truth. Facts are people want to be welcome when they're spending their money and not be treated as if they are a burden or an aggravation. Controlling the ports is an obvious necessity. However no one's showing up is far worse than too many people showing up. It's clearly nonsense to say that cruise ships are not a major impact on the economics of Juneau Alaska. An unlike Florida you're only doing it for a very short period of time. I would rather go to a manufactured village and go on excursions to see the rest of Alaska then be unappreciated in the supposed real village which sure looks a whole lot a plastic village. Let's just agree to disagree.
We have sailed on 7 different cruise lines. We continue booking on the lines we like and have eliminated certain lines that aren’t for us. We are sailing on a new cruise line for us - Holland America. We are looking forward to trying something new, but will miss the loyalty benefits we receive from Celebrity (27 cruises so far).
I followed your suggestion and now travel outside the box as one who did 28 cruises all with Royal but, I did not feel the love from them any more so I switched to Princess and it was a totally new experience that I like.
I'm a platinum member on Carnival. They don't have to give us anything. Some people think they are so entitled. Get over yourselves. I don't ware caps very often. But I'm not upset about it. I'll ware it if I need it.
On a cruise of 14 days 20 years ago, on Celebrity, I believe our group was on its own booze cruise, except for my husband and I who don't drink. I think it was several thousand $ by the end in Barcelona. It was wild, unexpected, ugly and funny. Since then it has been just the two of us!
Yes, to try other cruise lines. After 22 cruises across all the major lines, it is more refreshing not to experience the repeidvness of the same line, it's motif, management, ways and means. Don't drink the same old Kool Aid.
Private islands in the Caribbean, a similar thing in Alaska now. I am not surprised at all. Short trips are the trend now. It’s not surprising Celebrity is doing it too.
Attention Bar Harbor, your city can be next to miss out on cruise lines dollars. Keep it up. I'm glad the cruise lines are standing up to the anticruise bunch. Yes to cruising other cruise lines. We used to sail almost all Carnival, over 30 cruises. My last Carnival cruise was a drunken mess. I don't need this and I'm not going to bring grandkids into this environment. We now shop price and ports.
@1954diverdave As a Mainer, I can tell you Bar Harbor can not accommodate that many people. Did you know the entire population of the town is under 3500? They do not have the infrastructure. There are not enough police, fire, EMTs for the town even without the summer people. Every hotel is filled to capacity all summer long. The ships need to stay in Portland. Our biggest city. The population of the state is under 2 million lol. Bar Harbor is too small for 6500 people every day! Believe me, we have enough people from away. We dont need the dollars lolololol. Betcha never been there!
The way I look at it the cap probably cost them around four dollars to get made and in that is what you’re going to give your most valued customers. I wear hats and caps, but only certain kinds not everyone wears them. I would rather have a free drink or a good meal
Yes. Try new cruise lines. I was a loyal Celebrity cruiser for years, but I'm not keen on some of the new business models Celebrity has recently adopted nor do I like their new Edge class ships. Recent cruises on Celebrity have felt less exclusive and more mass market with lots of uncharges for products and services that used to be included. So, by the time you pay your final bill, you have spent the equivalent of a luxury cruise on a luxury line such as Explora Journeys or Viking Ocean Cruises.
A for-profit group (College Party Cruise) booked rooms during spring break on a very popular cruise line. That isn't news. Celebrity cruisers already know not to book a 3 or 4 day cruise during spring break. I think that rule of thumb applies to any cruise line. This company put together a cruise making it easier for the college kids to book. It makes financial sense for them and for Celebrity. I'm not of college age, but I'm not concerned. If you don't want to cruise with kids and the younger crowd, just don't book 3-4 day cruises during spring break. It's really that simple.
Sounds as Royal is Building There Own Island ... I would is going on in THE BACK ROOM talks ?? Is this Island going to be a FUN PARK or is there a Town ..?
I don’t blame RCL with the Juneau thing, why should they consult with the City? It was clear some people didn’t like the cruise passengers filling up the City, so this solves it.
You know Jay, it's not just the hat. It's the slow removal of other perks, the frequency that diamond/platinum perks are refused because there are "too many" on a sailing, and the chipping away of simple tokens of appreciation. These are all cumulative with the cutting of services for all passengers, short staffing, lower food quality, higher prices, etc. It's not just a hat, and it's a little bullshit the way you present it to be so.
I do not wear a baseball caps. I will accept it, but not wear it. The best swag we got was pre-pandemic with the small expandable bags. We really like them, are well made and very useful. Well at least the ball cap is better than a can cozy.
I don't understand the hat controversy. Is there more to it? Are they upset that people will be wearing them, or do they not want the hats for themselves ( in which case, decline it or leave it in your room). On the other hand, although I find the reaction kind of odd, I am not sure that I would call it entitlement to not want a hat... or they upset that they will not be receiving a 'better' freebie?
I think they need to be careful building on sovereign land. If the Natice Corporation owns the land they don't have to take responsibility for any accidents that happen on their land. And attorneys won't take cases that take place in tribal court. They just need to be careful.
I see nothing wrong with cruise lines catering to a mixture of diverse groups. Just because Celebrity has always been known as the old people cruise line doesn't mean it has to always. This isn't the early 1900's we don't have to segregate ourselves. It's 3 sailing whoopity woo Book another cruise if the vibe don't match yours but old quiet people can't claim a whole cruise line and be upset when younger people wanna have a good time.
I do not understand why humans are vicious with their own kind. Why retaliate to a person who is only doing his job and nevertheless be rude. Just don’t spend the money carnival and don’t give anything, they do not deserve it. About Royal Caribbean I am glad they went that direction in Juneau Alaska. I am fed up with all these ports putting all these rules and restrictions. The vendors are the ones who will suffer.

Have done 20 cruises spread between 5 cruise lines. Each adds their own individual touch/worth. Your missing out if you just stick with one line.

Jayson, always enjoy and learn from your videos and shorts. Has anyone ever told you that you have a professional radio/celebrity/DJ voice?
I always say that too! It’s a radio voice!
@@catrid61 He really does!

Juneau is gonna suffer hard from this and the sad part is that it’s from their own doing.
Yes. Try new cruise lines. I was a loyal Celebrity cruiser for years, but I'm not keen on some of the new business models Celebrity has recently adopted nor do I like their new Edge class ships. Yey for the tree.
Do you have any recommendations, where to stay in Fort Lauderdale. Taking my first cruise in March. Nice video, great info. Thanks and take care.
We love staying at the Westin Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort for a few days before a sailing!

Like the hat better than a fanny pack
I don't think John should give these clearly self entitled people anything. I mean how disrespectful and rude these passengers are acting .

Would never go on a 3-4 day cruise not worth the aggravation getting to and from, need at least 7 days to make the trip
@@clarkanyan8508 I agree 100 %. We never take less than 7 day cruises. Usually 11.
What do those initials on the hat mean??
The initials are Very Important Fun Person. It’s the tagline for the Carnival loyalty program.
I agree with RCL 😊 I love Alaska and don’t want to get involved with local politics!
How do you know Celebrity reached out? Maybe it's the reverse.

Royal did some shady stuff but it’s all business with the cruise line.
how about no writing on any hats
It’s an advertisement for Carnival loyalty program. They purposely put the initials for that reason. No writing is a no go, but I agree with you
