Same here man. I’ve tried playing the game a few times now and I understand that it’s amazing and everything, but I didn’t get to play it whenever it released. Things have changed hugely.
Yeah it's decent if you are doing a mage build. You can get better enchants on your own stuff later on but as a starting item it's not bad. You also get a leveled chest in that dungeon as well. The key is in the same container as the ring. You have a good possibility to get some decent stuff.
Morrowind is simultaneously a very ugly & very beautiful game. I think it’s a little uncanny-valley-ish. When I first got this game at 10y/o I was so scared of the graphics I didn’t seriously start playing until a year later when my dad helped me get the skull from the ancestral tomb for that necromantic she-orc at the mages guild lol. For some reason, him walking me through that one tiny dungeon gave me the courage to defeat the devil, Dagoth Ur.
I remember playing Morrowind as a pre-teen on my Xbox 360, i didn't know what I was doing and im not even sure if i enjoyed the game 😭 I've since came around on it, and yeah the grafix are really...crunchy?
I will sub for the Morrowind content for sure! I really like the lock picking in Morrowind, mainly because it adds a level of genuine stealth, its live so you have to pay attention to people moving around, rather than jumping into an instance where you can spend as much time as you like trying to pick the lock
Been playing Morrowind for thousands of hours since it came out, and I never knew about that axe behind the lighthouse. This game never ceases to amaze me.
In 2002 I had a major surgery. I was on my back for nearly two months. I got Morrowind to help pass the time… I remember the theme so vividly, the nostalgia from this video was just awesome!
My favorite build is anything with luck as a focus, making it start at 50, then spend the first 25 levels doing a 5/5/1 approach, putting a point into luck every level up. When you get to 75 luck the game becomes a Benny Hill skit. It's hilarious. One of my favorite things to do. Period. Not even just in video games 😂
It was the first Todd Howard game after the zenimax purchase. Michael Kirkbride saved this franchise. Todd Howard is a hack, new Vegas is the best game of the era then Skyrim then oblivion then f3 then f4
Bethesda really needs to do the world a solid and let another company remake morrowind so Bethesda can’t ruin it and we can have this game with fresh looks.
@@deanreaver3268OpenMW just ports the assets from the original Morrowind into an engine that can handle 16:9 and better mods. It isn't a "remake" in any sense of the word, it's just an engine port. Skywind is still just Skyrim at heart as well. Which means that the mechanics of Morrowind will not be present. The magic system of Morrowind dwarfs the hell out of Oblivion and Skyrim. Having the game ACTUALLY updated with full voice-acting, better animations, models and upgraded technologies like ray tracing, etc. would be preferable. RTX Remix is a step in the right direction for a true "remaster" via massive modding but even so, it's still running 23 year old assets and it is limited by some of the technology of the time.
I pray this game is never touched by corporate hands again. It's as close to narrative perfection as there is. Old and crusty, sure, but it's no more than a heavy patina on a fine, old piece of art.

Bruh always use best attack is a must in Morrowind. You have to be next level purist to demand someone actually use the default attacking type that's bound to movement. That's just insanity.
Technically, Morrowind is 3D Daggerfall. Daggerfall was pretty much exactly like Morrowind, just bound by 2D sprites when it came out in 1996. Fallout didn't come out until 1997.

Shitty gameplay aside, how was it? Compared to skyrim or standards in 2024? What does this game do well that others don't? I don't know man watching this video devolve into a lets play isn't all that useful.
Most people who have played Morrowind attest to its worldbuilding, exploration, magic system, and absolute freedom. For example, when you talk with NPCs, you can ask them questions about people, places, and things you have heard about. If they choose to answer you, they will help you learn more about the world and complete quests. The faction system is very detailed as well. The game also doesn't level scale, but that means you just have to be aware that running away sometimes is necessary, and that's ok because it encourages preparation and education for travel. Also, when you get stronger the ceiling is actually limitless. Like, create a spell that lets you levitate across the map, why not? What it doesn't do well: combat is its weakest part. It can be buggy and clunky. Many Static NPCs, but the environment still helps with making it feel lived in. Music isn't ambient (calm vs. Fight).
@@benharder7816 Interesting, in a nutshell would you describe morrowind as a harder and less casual version of skyrim then? As a skybaby I have very little to relate a game like morrowind to.
