the important thing to remember about the spy kids movies is that they were literally just created for fun; they weren't intended to be 'good' or even to make money (especially considering their very low budget). the director just wanted to make just wanted to make something his kids could enjoy, called up a bunch of his actor friends and decided to mess around and make it as cheesy as possible. and considering how much we all loved them as a kid...i think they did their jobs.

So fun fact, when you learn to dive you actually have to learn how to clear your mask of water while you are under water. What happens if your mask gets knocked off then you have water in your mask? You actually just slightly tilt the bottom of your mask away from your face and then exhale through your nose and it will fill your mask with air pushing out the water. The more you know.

The special effects are actually kinda alright for the time. Imo, what brakes these movies is the acting. The chick is a decent child actress, and so are the parents and danny trejo, but the rest are just terrible, especially the lil boy.

They don't care about how deep a plot is, they care about having fun and enjoying themselves, and to a kid, these visuals were realistic as ever and drove their fantasies wild.

I swear Spy Kids trilogy airs on russian channel CTC at least once a year. It's well loved by russian late 1990s-2000s kids

I was a little jealous of Carmen and Junie when I saw their hideout spot with a rehydrator that could turn dry food into things like a juicy mcdonald's meal or a Thanksgiving banquet. And the stashed cash from every country. Not to mention the cool pod they were in. I'll be honest at that time in my life they had a lot of things I wish I had.
