Love that thing. Absolute best reel I’ve ever had, and I have a lot of them. Straight workhorse. When you play with the tune you can bomb it. Sometimes if I have a heavy frog or swim bait on I’ll mess around and just cast all the line off the spool. Only reel I can really whip without line jump.
Definitely loved mine! Unfortunately mine is not in the best condition anymore (4years later). So I upgraded to the Antares and WOW I didn’t know it could get better than a Curado! Thanks for commenting brother!!
Damn. I learned to cast with a 30 dollar diawa black widow back in the early 90s, so any reel now a days feels amazing never thought i live to see the day you can use a baitcaster without thumbing a spool.
You've just never learned how to set them up right haha I've owned over 10 baitcasters and I can get every single one of them to cast without having to thumb the spool even with having my brakes set loose ah. I haven't even bought a dc yet cause ya don't need em even my abu garcia black Max won't backlash but ive also been using them since I was 12 and consider myself pretty damn good at using them did spend 350 on a limited edition dawiwa though and that things just crazy compared to my cheaper ones still yet to get a backlash and it's not a dc either
All these mf in here claiming “you just need to set it right”. I’ll bet almost everyone who has their non-dc baitcaster “set up” for no thumbing is losing substantial casting distance. More than likely spool tension too tight lol
@@TUFFBASS That a reel tuned so that you don't have to thumb it at all as the bait hits water isn't tuned for best distance (even if you are happy with it). I always thumb my spool, for one reason or another.
Just bought one for my step bro who fishes not me.. did i do good? Left hand retrieve since he fishes from a kayak and thought switching hands would be cumbersome. 7.5 gear ratio so it doesnt oull line in to fast im guessin
Not much distance on that cast. You must have a lot of tension on the spool. You can get another 20’ on a cast and still not birds nest without thumbing it.
@@TUFFBASS yeah maybe the lens. Didn’t look that far lol. But your spool seems pretty tight to stop that hard. You can definitely go a click or two and get your some yardage safely. Great reel btw.

I fell off my stunt bike. Got run over. Died. Broke my whole body. They said id never use my left arm again or walk. That was like 6yrs ago. I walk and use my arm fairly well. My baitcasters r right hand. Ive been frog fishin and been losing them on the set. I think setting the hook with my left srm is the issue. I destroyed my rotator cuff. So with the frogs i dont think im able to snatch hard enough to set the hook. Is it extremely difficult to learn left hand reels? I think it would help a lot to set the hook with the pole in my right hand. But thinking about reeling with my left hand seem so awkward. Has anyone here made the change before? Or should i just take the time to grab the rod handle with my right hand to set the hook then reach back to the lever to reel it in?
