Everyone thinks that the DC reels are made not to backlash and that’s not how they are made, after you get them tuned in they won’t backlash but you have to tune them up to you! I absolutely love mine and it’s a Shimano one of best reel manufacturers in the world
Bought mine last week and this is a fact! My curado backlashes but much different then a normal baitcaster. The backlash I minimal and typically it’s my fault. It is very forgiving. When I cast to hard some times or let go too early I get much less backlash then I should have. Also today I made a cast and my lure got caught in grass behind me. A normal baircastwr would have been done. It took me around one minute to get it out. Not to mention it’s just very smooth. Overall I love my curado.
Just got it yesterday the dc it's amazing I love it. Academy didn't have it when I ordered the normal slx and got me the dc for the same price somehow. Happy father's day to me
Ajust the spool tension knob so there is no play in the spool. Then it will work properly. And get yourself some grip pin hooks so your baits don't keep sliding down the hook and losing bass . If you had a grip pin hook you wouldn't have lost those fish . Mustad has grip pin hooks gamakatsu has them trokar has a couple of grip pin hooks. Try them out and you will see what I mean.
If you haven't already checkout "reel test" video on TH-cam he reviews all kinds of reels but he have over 4 that will show you properly how to dial in all DC reels. Once you dial it in correctly you shouldn't have any issue with not backlashing I know I don't with my DC's.. but I will tell you this tho is you happen to lube them up before you use it, if you think line shoots out from straight outta box use, wait till you lube it before you use it man line shoots outta that thing as if you put speed spool bearings in it.. I wouldn't suggest using any speed spool bearings on any DC reel it will take away the butter smoothness on retrieving and you will hear the grinding of the gears over the DC sound. I saw reel test upgrade a DC reel with speed spool bearings. Again don't do it..
Enjoyed the video. The only thing that I noticed on the fish you lost was that it looked like your hook sets could have been harder but I wasn't holding the rod. RE: the rat's nest, my Diawa's aren't suppose to either but I still feather the reel just to be sure.
Well i guess i should just stick to my spinning reel. Bought slx dc yesterday. I haven't been able to cast it once. Backlash city right out of the gate every time.
@@krankmybait It casts better has better abrasion resistance more shock resistant better knot strength much cheaper....flouro may be better for deep crank baits because it sinks but that's about it..
“I pay money for a pretty noise” that’s the same thing I did brother.
Worth it. 😂
Out of all of the reviews out there I’d say yours is the best
Yep just got mine as well. XG. Love it. But i will say. The SLX MGL70 is smooth as butter and casts a country mile too.

Dude, don’t let little stuff bother you my friend. You are outside fishing! God granted you another day. Have fun and God bless. Very nice new reel

Not sure if you meant to say that but the reel you got looks like its the xg which is an 8.2 gear ratio. the 6.3 would be the standard slx dc 70
Omg dude how that is possible ? Hopefully will be great soon
i would've downsized hook and bait after losing that many.
Yup great reels. I only buy JDM since the price is better. Still enjoying it 2 years later?
I am! And hardly any back lashing now lol
The backlash was not the reels fault
No, definitely user error 😂
Hi, check out our new bait-cast centerpin reel with patented anti-backlash brakes, smooth drag-mech and lowest start up in industry
Switch to an EWG hook.
you paid way more then you should’ve, that real goes for $189 everywhere

Damn $225 for that. If look around you can get it for $160
Ik i was gonna say
Your in leesburg lol
I liked the video but you complain how you lose fish, but you reel them in to fast.
FIRST!
Its better to use monofilament...
Why do you prefer mono over flouro?

@@exitar1 I appreciate the info man. I’ve never really ever used mono. I’ve always used flouro or braid. I’ll give it a try 👌🏼

The sadness in his voice when he said no fishing 🥹
