    Oh my god thank you SO MUCH! I have tried SO MANY cleaning techniques and nothing worked until I tried SPECIFICALLY windex and a paint brush like in the video. 2 YEARS WITHOUT FULLY FUNCTIONING AIRPODS. And now they work like new. You are a hero without a cape. I can enjoy listening to music again.

    Omg after u get over the fear of a liquid cleaning agent screwing up my electronic device, you will soon realize that it is all worth the risk. And I did this at work. We have everything I need here. My makeup bag has an eyeshadow brush I’m not using at the moment, we have windex on hand, plus, a vacuum cleaner. It was meant to be! Lol. I did a few passes, waited 2 minutes of soak time in between each and made sure I vacuumed it all up very well each time. Slowly but surely you can start to see the two circles beneath the mesh which means… by golly you’ve done it!! You’ve cleaned out your icky wax. Lol. Amazing I tell u. Give it a try, works great in Hawaii 🤙🏼🤙🏼 Mahalo for the video. I was so close to buying myself a new airpod. Thank goodness for TH-cam and people with crafty skills. Lol

    Bro… what is this magic. So I had a pair, after a year the volume was so low I bought a new pair. Same thing started happening to the new pair. Imagine what it’s like sitting in public transport listening to music on full blast but hearing the people around you better than your music. So I watched this video, tried it on my new pair, and was baffled to say the least. Now, I remembered the old pair was hid somewhere, I tried this technique on that pair, and believe me when I tell you I had no initial hope. I thought death was eternal but these babies are back to life and doing better! Thanks!

      Hey! I clean mine often because my ear wax is very wet, and let me tell you he’s using way too much liquid and window cleaner will take way too long like his video. The best thing to use is hydrogen peroxide. For AirPods: Put a little on a cotton swab/q tip (just enough that it’s damp) and clean the mesh. Take a needle and clean around the edge where the white part rises above the mesh. Heat it for 10 seconds on low heat with a blow dryer (or heat gun if you don’t have a blow dryer). Suck it fast (I do it with my mouth but you can do it with a vacuum) and it’ll be brand new. For the case: hydrogen peroxide again! Wet a cotton swab- I soak it then squeeze it so it’s basically like ringing out a cloth. Wipe around everything on top and down the holes where the AirPods charge. You’ll probably need a few cotton swabs because they’re way dirtier than they look. Use light heat or the cool setting of a blow dryer to dry, and keep open for a few minutes. Make sure it is fully dry before plugging in because it WILL melt your AirPods if the case is even a little wet while charging!
      Hope this helps☺️ I got this info straight from Apple and it’s the absolute safest way so you don’t damage the pods or case.

  • @ubreakitirepairit3569
    @ubreakitirepairit3569 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’ve tried this before and can confirm it works. Someone needs to make a vacuum nozzle attachment specifically for cleaning AirPods. Any other method of trying to clean these, basically just pushes anything into the mesh.
    Why are you using window cleaner over rubbing alcohol?
    I forgot to add that it helps to cover over part of the nozzle with a piece of tape, so that you can get more suction.

      If you're really worried about that you could use Isopropyl Alcohol, ideally 99% but I can't find that where I live so I use 91%. I doubt it would work as well as this windows cleaner but it evaporates very quickly and is very unlikely to damage any electronics. I use it without mercy on pretty much every electronic I've ever fixed or cleaned and have never had any issues.

      -maybe a combination of window cleaner and isopropyl could be a “game changer”-
      - -should look up if isopropyl can be mixed with detergents (maybe a solution with 10% “soap”..)-
      Actually..nvm, I I’m far from being able to suggest anything better
      I’ve just read that it’s recommended to use a 99% (would be great to have, if it’s wasn’t because of how rare it is to find - because of safety laws).
      Could imagine how the 99% maybe easily would mix up with any water solutions left inside the device and then better evaporate and dry up any surfaces..
      Also not sure how long isopropyl will stay at it’s original alcoholic level (when the bottle has been opened the first time..)

Their public support article HT208729 about AirPods cleaning says in the very begining: "Don't use products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide". I have also checked internal service docs and they don't mention peroxide at all. They don't mention window cleaner either, and they say to avoid any liquid getting inside the openings. My method is not the official method approved by Apple, but it worked for me so far.

    Tried this myself but now my right pod is very low on volune. I assume that I used the vacuum on to high of a speed and maybe damaged the speaker membrane. Any thoughts from anyone that might have had the same problem and maybe found a fix? Thanks
    LE: to note that the bud sounds ok but at about 5-10% of the volume I get on the other one. They are balanced so no software problem here, tried the reset and all.

    Would this work better with a custom 3d printed attachments for the vacuum? To make an almost perfect seal with the airpods

      Microphones are usually clean on AirPods, it might be a bit riskier with microphone cleaning. I’ll need to look into this

    my son regularly leave them in the pants pocket thrown to the washing machine. They survived so far. I dipped my pair in isopropanol (IPA), but one of them plays very quietly after the bath.

    what would happen if i used a earwax remover (liquid) on my airpod and let it sit for a while and then clean it out? is this a terrible idea?

    • @PhoneFixCraft
      @PhoneFixCraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Idea is good, but I have tried and it didn't really work.

    • @ufctekkers1945
      @ufctekkers1945 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PhoneFixCraft i tried it like 3 days ago and it worked like a charm you just have to let it sit for like 10 - 15 minutes, then use earbuds to cleanse it and (this step is nasty) suck on the earbud and make sure all the liquid leaves. Just make sure the liquid doesnt touch your mouth lol. You can also hang your airpod off the edge of something to make the liquid seep out.

    You should've played a 165hz sound before vacuuming the airpod.

    • @PhoneFixCraft
      @PhoneFixCraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I doubt it would work on AirPods, the sound level is too low, but idea is good
