I've been using the AirPods for 2+ years and over time, they definitely got dirty with wax, lint, dirt and who knows what else. So, in this video, I wanted to show you how I clean my AirPods and how I also fixed the low volume issue in my right AirPod.
When is the last time you cleaned your AirPods? I'd recommend doing this routine every few months, depending on how much wax your ears produce.

I use bluetack for cleaning my airpods, I think its faster and you got the same result.

HOLY CRAP DUDE! I was so bummed on this for months, and I just tried the alcohol/sucking on the right airpod/blew a bit of compressed air in there at the very end, and it made ALL THE DIFFERENCE!
If anyone is having low volume issues with just the right or left, TRY THIS!!!!

Might be the setting in which you have your microphone set as. My microphone is set as my left and so my left one doesn’t last as long as my right just because it’s doing two things rather than just one

Just cleaned my AirPods in over a year as well using this method. It worked they look fresh again. Also sucked the speakers and the sounds just as good. You gained a new follower.

You are a lifesaver. My daughters airpods stopped working and the right one was broken. Don't know how the sucky thing works but we cleaned, sucked and then reconnected them to her phone and they work perfectly - same with mine (the sound was a bit dull). Awesome - thank you!
this was magical!! i had recently cleaned my airpods, and that night was when my right one got super quiet and muffled. i thought for sure i broke it by getting liquid inside or something. i went back and cleaned it again with a qtip, tooth pick, and rubbing alcohol, and then tried the sucking method. now it’s fixed!
Not gonna lie, the “sucking on the head” technique really worked! On a serious note, I was having trouble hearing from them, the sound was really low, even when I had the volume on full and after cleaning etc and I sucked on them, they sounded brand new! Amazing 🤩
I use wall putty to make sure nothing gets pushed into the grill as easily, then use the cu-tips. Works VERY well.

I really thought I needed a new pair but turns out they were just waxy. I cleaned them often but never with rubbing alcohol so when I did use that it seemed to do the trick, this was a life saver! Thx a bunch

Worked. My left was so quite I couldn’t hear it after a few months of deteriorating. I tried all the software reset stuff first because my right and left were identically dirty and only the left had issues. Then I cleaned them and boom they work great! Thanks!

Used only the alcohol + q-tip and the difference is INSANE !! Went from hearing next to absolutely nothing to it being crystal clear and loud as they used to be when they were brand new. Have had them for 5 years and just thought it was time for an upgrade, but thought I'd try and save them first just in case. Saved me some money TY

I dropped my left air pod in water and the sound was definitely muffled. I put it in rice for a day and still muffled. I actually blowed in the pod, but after your suggestion of sucking it totally made a difference! I was so bummed in the beginning because I just got them a month ago! Thank you!
my left airpods volume was lower than the right so i tried the toothpick technique and it worked!!! thank u SO much!!
I discovered that the best tool for taking out loose earwax from the speaker grills is a modified plastic straw. Cut the straw at a 45 to 60 degree angle with a scissor or blade. The sharpened point will bend easily and not damage the fine mesh screen. Place a fine weave rag on your thigh for wiping the tool. A toothpick is too hard and stiff. It is easy to destroy your AirPods with any hard tools.
I just got mine today and it’s still quieter. I made sure my volume settings were even and my left is quieter than the right.
Thank you so much this helped me so much because i heard there was another choice which was “sucking” on it but gross i just couldn’t bring myself to do it so i cleaned it with a cotton swab and a makeup remover liquid instead of rubbing alcohol and an earring instead of toothpick and it worked perfectly right after thank you sm
Holy moly! Thank you my friend, did everything including sucking the AirPods, turned out, out of 3 holes, the largest one were filled with wax or some dirt. When I sucked all life from this poor little hole, the air started to come through and it worked. Now they sound like new ones, thanks a lot!

Use a hard bristle toothbrush, isopropanol brush the crap out of them then use compressed air into the back grille blowing out of the larger grille. sadly rubbing them will just block the grille more. These really need to be designed with replaceable grilles. Also tip of the century, wear your right in your left ear with the bit that goes normally toward your eardrum but now facing to the back of your ear, eg now using the back grille..if that works your front grille is totally blocked...so can still use them when blocked! have fun fixing!

At first I thought I was losing hearing in my right ear and I just kept adjusting the balance. Then it kept going further along and I realised it was the AirPods. Today my right one went almost completely silent, I thought cleaning with a tissue was fine but nope. I tried this stuff and they sound so damn good again. I’m so happy. Thank you. I used the sim ejected and had to use wipes instead but the highlight was sucking and it was so worth it.

My doc told me my ears produces wax a little faster then most ppl so I just try to clean my ears often which helps avoid getting wax on my AirPods .

Saucy _Pickle No, you will damage the mesh because of the sharpness
You can also take out dirt that was trapped in the mesh using blue tack. Just stick it to the mesh, leave it for a few seconds and then peel it off. Dirt sticks to it and gets removed when peeling of the blue tack. I’ve done that since I have my airpods and works like a charm.
I wouldn’t recommend doing this. Have been doing this for 3 months and the Blu Tac pushes the dirt into the AirPod making it more difficult to clean and listen to sound

Right ear was considerably lower in volume than the left. I used listerine on q-tips and it worked. Immediately after cleaning the right ear was louder and the left ear went dead. Blew air through the inner tiny hole (don’t know what that’s called) on the left ear and wax came out the front and it started working. Nice video.
That may have been the most interesting video I have ever watched on TH-cam but they are great tips since I am a first time user but I’ll have to work on my sucking abilities.. 😂😂

Ty 345 Just tried, and saw right away that you don’t need to suck it actually ,but you can also blow through the second hole. You can even put your finger at the third hole so you have a higher ” so called compression ”... but yeah the point is, it’s working!
