I'd like to engage in utilizing the bo, my father taught me boxing and to use a baton (retractable version & yes, there are techniques for effective and efficient use) after I met my 1st bulky at 12yo. I was the little girl with braids and a black eye in the Norman Rockwell picture anytime someone couldn't defend themselves and needed help. I think that the baton techniques would blend well with using the bo. It's too bad there are no longer any rules on battlefields, altercations, or just good ole' fisticuffs. We need to bring back Redcoat rules. "Ok Doug, our guys have emptied our muskets and will take the next 15 minutes to reload... Go ahead and take your turn...."
I had started teaching myself how to use my staff but this helped out a bunch, I used single side style but now I'm practicing both. I didn't realize I had so much extra room in front of me for swinging the staff. The way I had been doing it felt so limited but this really opened my eyes
I have been working this flow for a couple of weeks and I love it! It's starting to flow so I don't lock each step, it's becoming liquid. Thanks for this as always.
I live in Thailand and I've been wanting to do staff training for self defense for some time now. I watched your Basic Staf Fighting Techniques video and it convinced me to buy the Basic Training course. I'll keep you posted on how it goes! Cheers!
Paul, many thanks for another one of your excellent and informative videos. There are many unqualified so called instructors on You Tube right now who are incorrectly teaching the martial arts disciplines to the masses. It is really wonderful to have The Kali Center. Paul, I really enjoy practicing Kali and how you are able to logically integrate the didactical teachings of Kali as you parallel those teachings with the clinical aspect thru " Drills / Hand to Hand Combat / Weapons Training " in a real time scenario of workouts that you instill in me. Paul, please keep them coming along.
Love the staff, in all my years of training, haven't concentrated much on it ,just a little, the 4 foot staff for me, awesome, mostly from the end, you've inspired me with your training videos, THANK you once again Guru Paul, and coaches.....
Thank you for all the Kali, you been teaching me over the years, Paul! Merry Christmas and New Years! I have just learned so much massive amounts because of your videos! God Bless you!
the kali staff seems like an amazing idea, in a middle of the fight you break the staff in half against some guys head and now you have 2 kali stick to continue fighting 😂
That “humerus catch position” t=3:35 is nearly *precisely where the radial nerve crosses the bone below the deltoid, so care is needed! Your underarm catch threatens the long thoracic nerve, so I question whether this technique is one *I’ll be following……
I have a question regarding the training. I've been practicing these basic techniques during the day for a few days now, where I also tried to get some speed and power into these moves. I noticed some parts are getting sore/bruced from catching the excess power from the hits. Is it fine to do this while training? Or should I train such that I'm not receiving as much of the power on these parts, but rather in deceleration during the last part of the motion?
Sorry this has nothing to do with the vid. I bought a bob freestanding punching bag and accidentally stripped the housing that holds the top screw from the stem would it be ok to use it as it is? Or is there a diy fix someone can suggest.
Your hand technique is good and powerful but your foot work is shoty may be you didn't attend to show foot work and body positions to counter those self body shots but you can if you get better with foot work but great power strikes they sound amazing I can hear your power
My grandpa was the one who taught me. Nothing is better than your grandfather telling you that there are no rules in a street fight lol.
I was just about to ask how long you've been practicing. It looks like an extension of your hands.

Gracias Sensei Oss!!!🥋💪👊

Cool drill
id love to learn how to fight with a long stick because they are literally everywhere. debatably as useful as learning to fight with your fists
Hey, do you use tonfas in Escrima? If so, can you show us some techniques?
That “humerus catch position” t=3:35 is nearly *precisely where the radial nerve crosses the bone below the deltoid, so care is needed! Your underarm catch threatens the long thoracic nerve, so I question whether this technique is one *I’ll be following……
I love staff more than sword. First watching staff fight on Kamen Rider Kuuga.
do you show moves to take when an attacker charges you head on?
I like the movements. It seems very force on force. Is there any kind blending or going w the force?
I have a question regarding the training. I've been practicing these basic techniques during the day for a few days now, where I also tried to get some speed and power into these moves. Do we have to hit our bicep with the staff?
I do own a long staff on my room. I train some basic staff fight and then i keep it and i would use it. if someone is invaded my house.
I can see the connections of silambattam in kali
I wanna be Morgan Jones 💀
Thanks to this vid's instructions, I already feel like I can staff fight
jk, It'll probably take some time, but this is the right place to start
I'll also add that throughout my experience with the staff, I like how the double end method translates to boxing
@@nikolab.4065 double end does transfer nicely. 👍🏻🙏🏻
❤❤❤
What size staff is that ur training with
Can I use my Jo?

Your hand technique is good and powerful but your foot work is shoty may be you didn't attend to show foot work and body positions to counter those self body shots but you can if you get better with foot work but great power strikes they sound amazing I can hear your power
And great combo I'd love to spar with you if possible one day
