Mazda Mazda5. The minivan came to prominence by offering many of the features of a full size van, but in a smaller, more manageable package. Mazda has taken that logic an additional step with the Mazda 5, a smaller-than-minivan of miniscule proportions.
Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Mazda 5.
Like a creation from the Island of Doctor Moreau, the Mazda 5 possesses the traits of both a minivan and a compact hatchback, becoming something new altogether. Unlike anything else currently sold in America, the Mazda 5 offers six-passenger seating, sliding rear doors and ample cargo room, all in a tidy little package. I wish this car was still there in 2022.
I had to trade my '06 back in '18
I still miss that thing
I'm in LOVE with my Mazda 5. I recommend it to anyone.
Love mine too, have had it 4 yrs now and drive it most of the time over my Jeep Wrangler.
I just dumped my Jeep Grand Cherokee for a Mazda 5. The gas mileage alone was worth the trade. I did get a set of winter tires to compensate for not having AWD.
For having to haul 3 kids to school everyday (14 and two 3 year olds) and occasionally my parents and a kid or 2 this car is PERFECT! It does feel bogged down when loaded full of stuff/ppl, but 70% of my commute is by myself, and 80% of the time it's just that a daily commuter. Plus I talked my dealer into $21000 for mine wow!
I have a 2006 Touring, and it's great. My favorite things include the way-back seat, which is roomier than you think, and excellent cargo area, except for the "hole" between the flattened middle seats. I love my stylish new aftermarket wheels - the original wheels got banged up and wobbly! Over 45,000 mostly hard highway miles I've got a low 24 mpg. Mazda doesn't push this car, which worries me, but it's better than a Rondo! It's versatile and cheaper than a minivan, too!
We are about to buy one of these. The 3rd row seating was the deciding factor. Not to mention it is a handsome looking vehicle.
the 2005-2010 Mazda 5 was assembled in
Hiroshima, Japan
Thank you for this information!
I love my M5. I'm a pro-drummer a music teacher & instructor so i like the space it has. I like the look & design, to me it looks "better" than others on the market. I never have people in the 3rd row so it doesn't bother me. I never had many issues with this machine, i wish it had more power. I only had to deal with the doors freezing, but quickly fixed with good lub. Otherwise I 'm looking forward in purchasing a new one.
i don't even have a family but I wouldn't mind owning this. It looks practical for putting a bike inside and a ladder on top and buying lcd tv to fit inside and fits in my garage..
The mazda 5 can also have 7 seats, that one extra seat can turn into a cupholder with a cubby and it can fold to get in the 3rd row. it also folds down together with the left seat
My sister's boyfriend had one today from his parents.
It looks great inside, huge amount of space. acceleration is just great! he had the "more sporty" version. to be honest, it was a pleasure to be guest it runs so well
I have a 2004 Mazda MPV 2.0L diesel almost at 60k miles, which is was discontinued in 2005 in favour of the smaller Mazda5. In the UK and Europe, most cars sold these days are diesels which - apart from giving better fuel economy then petrol, provide a more torquey engine so making it easier to overtake on the motorways. I wouldn't mind a mazda5 as my next car, but deam of having a M-Benz GL-Class 420 CDi, now that has some serious pulling power!
Although I have sat in the 3rd row seat on one 2 hour trip it wasn't a comfortable as the "regular recliner" seats. I could get some sleep though and the head rest helped is great as well. I usually have the 3rd row down for gear etc But for bigger than a 4 per family, than a van maybe better suited for them. Other wise "I" find the M5 great.
@CalamityJesus Yeah, in my 34 mpg Camry I get close to 40 on the highway sometimes, but a higher speeds it does go down to the lower thirties ... not to 19 though... omg!
I got a 2006 Mazda 5 Sport and it goes in Fifth gear so quick for me!
🤠 I have a Mazda 2005 and I'm enjoying it
get a claybar kit. its hard work but it will remove the flaws in your paint.
i love this car... compact for a mini van
I dont like this is to small there is no point have a 3 row which is not useble I have a dodge journey
It's 4 cyl because it's much better on gas, and with the gas being so expensive you'll save about $60+ a month on gas, that's a lot of savings over the years.
the toyota sienna has the same economy rating with a bigger v6
I'm 6'6", 250lbs am I going to fit in this thing?
Your weight would not be the problem, but maybe close with your height, cheers
I love it ! I do Lyft as my side gig & my passengers ask what is the the make & model ? vehicle is great on gas ! not to large not to small..perfect for those starting a family ? those with disabilities ? perfect for g'ma & g'pa (Not To High) size is between Honda Pilot & CRV Mini & save $$.. only down side is the rear passenger doors are manual not electric.
@CalamityJesus wow, that's pretty good. I wonder why the EPA estimates are so low
Sooo, A Mazda MPV and 2 had a baby?
I have a mazda MPV 2000. After listening to this, I've decided I don't want my next car to be a Madza 5. They tried to squeeze an MPV into a mazda 5 with al it's features and it's just physically impossible. You end up compromising what matters most in ANY car: space. I'm extremely disillusioned by car designs these days. We feel nostalgia over the great cars of the past and you would think that with computer technology, we'd be making better cars than the past..much better!
@AnthonyUK That's called a Mazda MPV ...
@rockindoodcm I've gotten 30mpg doing 60-70mph days on the Interstates and regularly get mid-20s around town. I can't complain with the old-school 4 speed automatic trans.
@rockindoodcm The EPA test cycle is pretty good.. but it isn't perfect. I realize that different people will get different results, but I'm seeing a lot of comments online about the stellar efficiency of the new Odyssey dropping off sharply once you get over 60-65mph on the highway. Not that the Mazda5's efficiency doesn't drop off at higher speeds as well.. all cars will suffer more dramatically beyond a certain threshold. My old STI used to get 19mph on the highway doing 70. :(
Didn't this model have a fault with the rear suspension?
Have you ever sat in the 3rd row than if you did'nt I think you should try it out
Awesome Mazda5
I love this car
Was it comfotable at all
I have that car it has everything that she show and it white to
Cómo desmontar el cojinete de un Mazda 5 2006
Theres actually hardly any cargo room at all with the rear seats up. Why not just by a full size van?
I have this car but my cd player just stopped working and won't load or unload is this a common problem with these things
my parents just passed this car down to me and we've had it for 10 years and my cd player is perfectly fine.
love it
4 or 6 cylinder ?
The Mazda 5 is a 4 cylinder but is peppier than a lot of these reviews indicate. I've had my brother who's 220, his to kids not much weight there me and my wife and it didn't even feel like it was struggling even going up hill. At one point my brother said slower down and I wasn't even trying hard to go fast. Great micro van as far as I can tell. Bought it second hand 2 years ago and still running good.
its an awesome car to drive drunk in. i found i didnt sway over into other lanes like i do in my truck. so if you happen to have a little too much road pops, then this car is for you. it holds a straught line quite nicely
Should have made a 2.3 turbo 4x4 model .
the 3rd row seating must suck
I'd get a panoram-roof in mine.
only van with manual
you would think it would would get better gas mileage... it's comparable to the new odyssey
the price is not far different compare to the mazda 3 sedan AT...
Mazda 5 OWnz!
show mazda5 2008
i hava the same mazda relly a litle bet diferent
the 3rd row of the outlander is pretty bad!
@wywywy5 GAS MILEAGE! DUH!
