I've driven my 2006 Mazda5 since I bought it as the second owner in 2009 with 45K on it. It's up to 175K now and still rolling. I love the 4cyl stick shift - it's a hard to find option but so worth it. I pull well above the stated MPG on this, more like 28-30 highway. The car is great with my wife and four kids. It's expandable too - the roof rack has held kayaks, and luggage carriers, while the trailer hitch has held cargo carriers and pulled trailers. I love my 5 and will drive it until it drives no more. Cons - the suspension has been completely overhauled through the years, the headlights aren't bright enough for my taste, and it handles only so-so in snow, even with snow tires.

I have had 2010 Mazda 5 for 9 years , I purchased it because I thought its more practical than sienna in 2010. Until 5/31, 2019 with 87k miles on it. It’s love and hate with this family van, We love it,s practical and fun to drive. It also has great cargo space for my children, they were teenagers when we bought this car, my wife used it everyday to school , sports etc... . We used this car to send kids to collage w/o any problems. It gave us one trouble when it had 36 K with engine lights on and we spent $420 in dealer because it was not covered by warranty ( Sensors for purge value and leak detection) , other than that, it’s reliable but with BIG SUSPENSION NOISE and it,s hard to determine. The alignment went off two times and tires were changed two times when in 36K and 70k. My wife loves this car very much but I am bit disappointed due to its recommend by consumer report back to 2010 but it’s now in consumer report 2019 worst reliability used car. As almost 10 years experience with the Mazda 5 , here is my conclusion.
    Pros :
    1. great practical alternative mini van.
    2. Fun to drive ( feel like Mazda car not van)
    3. Good quality of inside room and slide door.
    4. Beside that engine light issues at 30K , it’s reliable if you can live with the suspension noise.
    Cons
    1. No solution for suspension noise ( I check TH-cam with swing bar bushing etc....) , but I went to several mechanics and they gave me different answers.
    2. The parts began to fall apart , the holder for rod inside the engine room just went off because plastic part after 9 years)
    3. Made in Japan doesn’t mean everything, I have other two cars ( 2011 Toyota Prius and 2011 Nissan Sentra) , I think they are more reliable than Mazda.
Will I buy Mazda again ? I would say “ NO “ , Is Mazda 5 a good choice for small family ? i would say YES because you can get it under 6 K and I believe it’s still good for another 50K.

I own one and Never really notice the engine noise (maybe because my other car is so much louder) I fill all 6 seats A LOT over the year Especially in the Summer, and the engine always as enough power, (I kinda like it, it is easier to control with every seat full.)
THIS CAR IS THE BEST!! (But does not fill the space of a full sized Van in all situations, I.E. No real room behind the Rear seat while being used.)

Bought a 2007 Mazda 5 second owner and now I'm the third and final owner. I love this van because i can carry me my wife and my brother his two kids with no problems., and my brother's 220 and I no problem going up hill with 5 of us in it. mainly keep all seats down so would be riders don't have a place to sit. also mainly recycle cardboard so that's another reason for all seats down. great vehicle overall but some minor changes would have been nice.
    1. Wider internal rear view mirror current mirror leaves big blind spots left eft and right. I use a panel mirror from my other car that died. makes a huge difference.
    2. being able to use hey on back gate.
    3. Third row port Windows should have been able to open. that's about all i can think of at this time.

I have a 2010 Mazda 5 Grand Touring and ABSOLUTELY love it...!!!
Well...expect for one thing. The acceleration of the 2.3 liter engine
which struggles when trying to merge from an on ramp exit onto the
highway. I've worked around this issue by setting it in it's "auto
manual" mode. And let me tell you folks it makes a HUGE difference in
power. Since it holds a gear longer to build up a merging or passing
speed when your on the highway. However, around town i just leave it in
it's regular mode setting which is just fine. But since most of the
complaints i hear about this vehicle are related to it's under powered
engine. I thought i'd share my "work around" of that problem area for
those that share my frustration on this issue. It's a damn shame that
Mazda discontinued this little gem of a minivan. Because in all honesty i
really feel they had a good thing going for folks not wanting a larger
SUV. I for one firmly believe that most of it's downfall was a lack of
any "reasonable" horsepower. Moving from a 2.3 liter to a 2.5 liter
engine and only increasing the horsepower from 153 to 157 was rather
ridiculous on Mazda's part. Since know one would really see any
"significant gains" from a 4hp increase on the newest models. If they
had bumped it up to 170hp at the very least and added more torque THAT
would have done the trick no doubt about it. The only other issue to me
was exterior styling since i really disliked what they did to the front
grille. By changing it to a huge plastic smiley face along with the
change in rear tail lights to a "standard" horizontal configuration. I
happen to LOVE my 2010 models vertical LED tail lights. There not only
sleek looking but also make larger vehicles in back of me notice my
braking more. So again Mazda shouldn't have changed that feature. And
lastly not to be overly nit picky here i miss the side turn signals and
painted body side moldings the older Mazda 5 models had up until the
2009 model year. Why they did away with those features on my 2010 model
is beyond me. I guess they felt adding traction and stability control on
my 2010 model was more important. Since the previous models before 2010
lacked those important safety features. Regardless of all that, i still
love my "mini" minivan and with only 30k on my 2010. I expect it to
provide me many more years of convenience and reliability.

    • @Fenncer24
      @Fenncer24 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@craigshandworld it might work ok on logging roads as long as the ruts aren't to deep. With 17" standard tires you should be fine as all the stuff that could be damaged are resested under the vehicle. If you do buy one I would suggest you put a metal plate like bash pan under the engine for sure as the plastic one won't provide much protection from rocks or ruts.

I just bought the 2012 Mazda 5 Grand Touring in Clear Water Blue Mica like the one that's used to do all these reviews. It handles like a sports sedan, and the engine is very peppy. Plus, it's loaded; I mean things like auto headlamps, stereo volume, and rain sending windshield wipers. Plus the Xenons are elevation adjustable from the interior. I love my Mazda 5, one of the better cars I've owned, and I've been driving since 1986.

Good video. I just bought a used 2008 Mazda 5 Grand Touring with 94,428 miles. It is a bit noisy in the interior but I still love driving it. It has everything heated front seats, leather seats, sunroof, blue tooth, rear A/C. The xenon head lights and fog lights are great. It is a 4cyl 2.3 fuel. It is supposed to be City 21 MPG and 27MPG EPA estimate. I need to verify this yet.

    • @Fifthcell
      @Fifthcell 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      K. Rivera Hello! I know this comment is 6 years old but I’m going to reply anyway ok? Lol.
The noisy cabin is an issue with this car, however it’s not as bad as you would think. I have a 2010 Mazda5 GT with 133k miles and it’s been nothing but good to me so far. The only other problem aside from the noisy cabin at high speeds is the stock camber in the rear. From the factory it’s set to have too much negative camber that tires get eaten up from the insides very quickly. Other than that this is a truly underrated vehicle and I hope mine will last more years to come.

From what I can see this is a "nitch car." It's small to get around in those annoying parking lots, so the sliding doors will be helpful. It is compact and very practical although a few gadgets are missing from it's competitors but again it keeps the pricing down. A huge plus is the handling, it's more like a sedan. When I went to the car show a young couple had their 2 kids already breaking it in (about 5 & 3). Go to the dealership and really look if it's for you.

    • @Fenncer24
      @Fenncer24 3 ปีที่แล้ว

When open the sliding door take the loop at the back of the bottom seat by the back rest and pull up. This moves the bottom out of the way. Next look straight down at the side of the seat, There you will see a lever pull upon it and the seat back will fold forward and flat. Be sure your head and arms are not in the way or it might knock you out or hurt your arm. That's all there is to it. To put it back up pull the lever lift the seat
Back up and back then pull the seat bottom back and down. Hope this helps.

I had a Mazda a few years ago, it was always breaking down. In fact, it was more expensive to maintain than my 18 year old BMW 5 series. Not a very safe car..

I purchased the Mazda 5 for the promised gas mileage. Of course I should have paid more attention to the tiny astericks that state it is estimated and your mileage may vary. I am getting 12 miles to the gallon around town - the same as our big SUV.

the used car value on this is unreal. a cx5 is 7500 to 10,000 canadian more. a subaru outback or venza is almost 2x as much for comparable years and mileage. my bro wants a cx5 for its looks, but he should shut up and get this.

Good joke . How do you check the oil on a Mazda 5 diesel? Answer , you can't, the oil in the sump that you paid away above the asking price for oil has already turned to sludge, so the dipstick is the person that bought the Mazda diesel
