    Great review. I've got a '10 and love it. Keep up the good work. There are only 2 "issues" with these. The ride is brutal with performance tires. Most car mags said the same. The other gripe is replacing the headlamp bulbs. Don't even try it. Get someone else to. They are impossible to get them in and getting them to stay put.

    I bought one of these new in 2008, but mine had a 5-speed manual and I added a Mazdaspeed 3 rear anti-sway bar and summer tires. Great handling, fun car, really drove like a fun hatch, not a van. The only issue I had was that I believe the OE rear springs were too soft and caused unweighting of the front tires on acceleration. This was really noticeable in wet or snowy uphill conditions. I ran full winter tires on all 4 on 16" steel wheels for winter.

    I have a 2010 with a 5 speed manual. Bought it new and now at 290,000 miles. No engine or tranny repairs. Still on the original clutch! One solid powertrain and it is still fun to drive.

  • @captmaverickable
    @captmaverickable ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Fun fact. I was a salesmen for a Mazda dealer and usually we were encouraged to drive for 5-10 minutes to demonstrate the handling capabilities as part of our Zoom Zoom campaign. MX-5 and RX-8 were loads of fun. The 3 and 6 were least interesting. The 5 blew me away. There is a curve shaped like a question mark. We use this to demonstrate the handling prowess. In the 5 it will tripod on a really sharp turn.

    I believe this engines, the MZR engines, 2.0, 2.3 and 2.5, were actually mazda designed engines, but at the time Ford owned a big % of Mazda and they also had the rights over these engines, so much so that even now I think the 2.3 basic architecture is still used in the 2.3 Ecoboost.

    Hey, as far as fun to drive MPV, the list is pretty short; There's the - Honda Stream and its successor the - Honda Jade (Chinese domestic market, big tuning aftermarket support there),
    -the Ford S-MAX
    -in europe we had the Peugeot 307 SW (more of a bulbous 7 seater station wagon), also the old - dacia logan 7 seater , the new - Dacia Jogger i haven't tried yet.
    The Ford could be specced with the 2.5T focus ST engine and would be the fastest.
    The hondas are sweet, but very rare outside of Asia. Old ones were powered by the "slow" K20A1 engine, with manual transmissions available in europe.
    I know nothing of the american market, would love to have someone chime in.

Best vehicle I've had of the 9 different cars I've owned 2 from the 1970's, 5 from the 1980's and the 1993 Escort and hopefully this will be the last car I own. These are quite fast though the car review guys all say there slow. They're also roomy inside as I was able to fit a full size couch in mine with about a foot or less sticking out the back. Granted the third row is small but the center seats move to give those in last row room. I've sat back there and fit fond and I'm 5'8". Have you ever seen a crossover with sliding rear doors?
      It's a minivan. It might compete with similarly sized crossovers -- and yes, technically Mazda called it a wagon -- but it's a minivan.

    I don’t know where you getting 153 HP at; because my Mazda 3 makes 160
    HP. Is this the Zero Emissions variant of the 2.3L? Also I wonder why Mazda never made the Mazdaspeed5....
