As a person who was in your exact same shoes trying to learn thai can I please offer you some humble advice? The biggest problem english speakers have with learning thai is the tones and pronunciation. The best thing you can do to learn thai is forget Romanizing thai. I think this is the thing that slows down learners the most. You really need to learn thai script because once you learn the sounds the letters make you can pronounce the words so much clearer. Please ask your italki teacher to teach you the alphabet and start from there. And also try this, if you know a word you want to say in Thai repeat the word like a recording would repeat it. Even better record yourself saying that word and then listen to the word you are trying to say and see if it sounds identical like a recording. If it doesn't sound identical like a recording then you well get the "sorry, I don't understand" from the locals. And bottom line is if they don't understand that word you are trying to say then you need to work on it.
True. Once you learn to read the Thai script and know each character so much easier for your pronunciation. Check out a book call “Learn to read Thai in 10 days” you can definitely learn the whole Thai script in about a week, week and a half if you are serious about it.
You’re doing great! I was born Thai but raised American. So when trying to pick up speaking Thai again. I try to think in Thai when I’m by myself and also talk in Thai to myself (you know we all talk to ourselves 😉).
You have definitely progressed, and the conversation you had with the lady selling the drinks was great. One thing I would advise you to do is really focus on getting your tones down. Those are crucial because if you say the wrong tone for a word, it can change the entire sentence. But obviously for someone who has been learning Thai for only 30 days you are doing a phenomenal job. Keep up the good work!
Your Thai is getting better! I just moved to Thailand about a month ago and have been learning by immersion. I've also been learning a lot from our nanny. I plan on signing up with one of those language platforms soon so that I can learn more. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome content! But I feel like people waste too much time on vocabulary lists. Instead of memorizing thousands of words, we should focus on mastering the most common 500 words and actually using them in conversations. It's way more effective than trying to learn everything at once. Anyone else agree?
Sounds like youre doing a great job in that at least you're being understood and you're understanding the lady when she was talking to you. Keep being comsistent with it and you'll get it son. Im gettimg better and better with Spanish also.
Hi Isaiah thanks for the great content, hope to see you soon. Your link to the NordVPN is not working. We were able to support by using your Safety Wings link, thanks again for guiding us on this journey.
I love the way you do it bro, we thais dont go to US and ask why you guys dont speak thai, it doesn’t make sense, why? No immigrants can come to our country and open up restaurants or even being a vendor etc so us thais can have a open door as a thai citizen, thats why our GDP is, not the best but the way we did it. So thats the reason why we dont really need english, so why thais are all over the world working then ? If theres more money we go there its normal.
Love your ❤️ channel! I've been down with ya from jump. Please 🙏 feel free to reciprocate. I am looking forward to meeting you someday in my second home, which is Thailand 🇹🇭.
Your teacher speaks Thai with foreign accent which is strange for a person with Thai name. She uses a lot of English with you instead of Thai. This is not really good for anyone who want to learn Thai.

Wow, you have learned Thai a lot. You are definitely progressing 👍.
Thailand also has a Thai ED visa, which is pretty good if you want to learn the language and be in the country for a little longer👌
I want to learn Thai. But I know my approach would be first to learn the most common 2000 words first then from there I’ll learn to read Thai.
