Brother. Best vid I've seen for 1 reason. You mentioned moving the ac compressor around while you work the alternator. That helped me pull it in under 5 mins. After 2 hrs trying to get it to fit through the opening of just the lose compressor
The book procedure for replacing this alternator is evacuating the a/c system and removing the compressor. The alternator drops out the bottom easily. The book time is only 1.6 hours to complete the job. Don't waste your time attempting to remove the power steering. It is far more work than dropping the compressor.
I'm trying to figure out how to get that red button thats connected to the alternator 13:37 I have everything else off I've been trying all week to get that connector off the alternator
Well there was a much easier way to do this job . The power steering pump is removed from it's bracket and laid in top of the engine. Then you have 5x the work space to get to alternator that comes out if the top of the engine.. AC compressor does not need to be moved or unbolted. Tensioner loosened and then unbolt power steering pump, then remove the idler pulley (if needed to access bottom alternator bolt). Remove all electrical connections and then remove alternator bolts. Remove alternator. Installation is reverse of removal.
It’s a little easier to pull the top radiator hose, top core support piece and slide the fans out. Still had to go through the fender well to get that stupid idler pulley out of the way. Then it comes out the front/top. It’s a horrible design!!
Wow now I know why American ppl don’t use there head why don’t you just unbolt the power steering and move it to the side without taking the hoses off just move it to the side and alternator it’s right there why pull ac down and all bunch of crap wow m
You should try sharing your knowledge without being a prick. The guy took the time to make a video of how he did it for the first time. If it isn’t the best way, you can help with insulting.
Because dodge is dumb and put the power steering braket bolts on the back side inside the airintake area. Can't get to them with out removing the entire unit
Exactly!!!! This is what happens when you've got a parts changer claiming to be mechanics. I've been a certified mechanic for 4 decades and I have taught people this repair 100 times. It doesn't take 45 minutes to do this job if you do it the right way and power steering pump being set to the side is the easiest, quickest and the way it's done at any Dodge or Chrysler Dealership.
Thanks! I really appreciate the directions/details and tool information.

I was hoping to find a video showing that but every video shows this way. I have it off but can't get the connector off the alternator
