Great video man! Don't worry about trying to produce a professional video so much or that you need a remote control camera. You have a great way of teaching and excellent logic and that is all many of us want to watch.
Just wanted to say thanks for this. Had a 60 inch Samsung that had no display but had sound. Watched this and ordered a T-con board replacement for it and its working like new. thank you so much!
I am so thankful for this video and your honesty :-) At 19:00 into your video you discussed testing it before you put it back together. You explained how it grounded out the T-Con board. I did the EXACT same thing :-( I had it apart to re-glue some of the LED reflectors that had come off. I put most of it together and tested. That's when I only had backlights when it previously worked fine. Needless to say, I just ordered a T-con board. Hopefully this does it. Thanks for your help.
Two things. If in PSU you wanna just swap the fuse, and not risk blowing it back again, you should connect it through the bulb. If short will be still there, the bulb will light up, if not short, a small blink will be seen and PSU will wake up, or, at least you can continue your diagnoses without worrying from now on. 2nd thing is that we should not just short capacitors IMHO. We should use something like a 3.3k ohm resistor to do it. Why is better? Google can answer if you're interested :). Yes, will be no spars, that's a good guess ;). And, thank you for the video, as always, good job!

I have a UN60Es8000 that has the same sound and backlight but no picture. I tried unplugging each of the 4 ribbon cables to the T Con board trying each by them selves, in pairs etc and I never got a picture. The T Con was receiving 12V and the fuse was good. I tested all of the output pins on the ribbon and one row all got 1.4V and the other 0.9V. On a whim, I replaced the T Con and ... It WORKED!!!. Save me from buying a +/- $4K QD-OLED. Thank you for posting your videos and giving me ways to check my TV. We still do 3D movie night and so this saved us from dropping that family event.
Yes, I did learn something. Your main board voltages, bottom voltages and test points, shorts. T con board, get the board. Saves a lot of hastle, time conumption. Great job man. Good work.
I would like to give you my sincere thanks for this video. I was able to take my 55 in samsung apart, trouble shoot and repair my 3 year old $700 TV for less than $70.
Hit the ground running Hi i have the same model but just a year old ..... was having few vertical line on the very left side of the tv and tried to repair it myself... while removing the ribbon cables and putting them back on the tcon board the tv went off..... now i can only hear the sound that tv is on but no display... can u help Please and Thank you

Hi Dog, do you have time to respond to my latest question? I really appreciate you and all the great help videos you put out. You're a good man. Jerry, the Packer fan. Don't hate me because of that. LOL 😮
@bigdog8882 the reply from me from yesterday was... I should clarify. When I'm looking at the back of the TV, I have the left board plugged in and the right board unplugged. Then I stand it up on it's legs and the right side of the TV screen shows a picture. Then, again, looking at the back of the TV, I unplugged the left board and plugged in the right side board, and I'm back to a black screen with backlights on. So I should be looking at the right side board for problems, correct? I also noticed that the standby light blinks 8 times and then goes off when doing both scenarios. Does that blink code mean something ? Also, the TV powers on just by plugging it in, not even using the power button.
@@JERRYSCHULTZ-l8d The side that you have unplugged when you get half a picture is the side thats loading it down. So start with checking that sides driver boards. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the help. Had half screen gray and black with audio on a LG 75". After closely looking at the T-Con board notice the bottom right ribbon connector was not latched properly. I simply pressed the ribbon latch back on, then plugged the TV in and turned on and bam it was back!
I have an LG E480i-B2 that I'm ready to diagnose now after watching your video on the 40 inch model. I feel positive about the outcome because you're an awesome educator - I've learned a lot about LED TV from you and look forward to even more. I'll post my result on my 480. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your knowledge! God bless.
I found it very useful. I have a TV with no picture and no backlight. Now I will follow your instructions to find the problem that I think it is the T con board.
Thanks for your advice bigdog. I had a blank screen and did your checks on the t-con board and was faulty. Bought a new one for £40 and problem solved. Saved me about £300 for a new tv👍🏻.

Just used your video as a "guide line" on my 65 inch 4k. voltage didn't match output but input matched just as you said. Thank you for the flow chart/love lol!
Big Dog, I've fixed loads of tv's, mostly PSU faults, capacitors, diodes, fuses E.T.C. I got a Samsung UE55KU6000K in the last few days, turns on, with sound and backlights, but no picture. I have never had this issue before.. Normally completely dead or no backlights. This will really help me to determine whether its the main board (no TCON board on this model) or the lcd panel, too tired tonight but I'll test the voltages on the output to the screen tomorrow, thank you so much!
well done, easy to follow as you went along. Just wanted to say I also have a scope that I found on ebay for $75 then you can see the signals at the T-con board. But you showed an easy way of doing it with a DMM.
I looked at the boards in my TV and there are no voltages shown anywhere that I can see. I only see test point identifications. I looked at the boards in your video and I can't see any legend for voltages either. Am I missing something?
its really helping thanks for additional information, I got de same problem it so confusing it might t-con board or logic board, and I got an Idea. thank you so much for this video
Hi, thanks for the video, I have checked that, there is not signs at the T-con broad input, I checked before the input, there is 1v signs from at the control panel output, if the issue could be happen in the T-con board?
Might just be a poorly seated cable! I have a Samsung LN04051D. Got backlight. Hooked up a DVD player w/DVD for sound test; cycle through source til heard DVD. Checked for burned caps, etc. Disconnected and re-connected the tcon cable and voila! Works now! Yippie I got TV. I suggest people start first with re-seating cables! Checked fuses first too. Thanks!

Thanks for your video. One question. with my loewe individual 46 i´m able to see for a second a message that says no tv signal right before the screen turns black. Do you have any idea on what can be the cause of this problem? power supply appears to be working since i can hear the hard disk working properly and i´m able to send commands with the remote. thanks in advance
Hi, I have 60" Samsung (UN60F6300AF) which I replaced all the LED strips band are working. Unfortunately now the video is all damaged. Parts of the screen is perfect while another part is completely dark. There are other parts of the panel that colors are messed up. If all the voltages on the t-con board check out could the panel be bad? In other words is it possible the t-con board is still bad? Thanks.
Hello and I really appreciate your video. I have a similar problem with my 75 inch Samsung OLED TV. It has sound but it does should a blue screen only. I was told that it could be a main board and I wanted to know what your thoughts could be? I want to say thank you very much for your input. Lastly, do you have a law enforcement background?
Big dog hats off to you. Now. I have a Toshiba 55l310u, the backlight is ok, sound but no picture. So I unplug one of the ribbon cables from the drive board and I get picture . What's the fix? Thanks. Barry new to your channel

Hi, l'm having a problem with my tcl 75s451 led tv. The TV powers up and has backlights and sound, but does not have a picture. So I replaced the t-con board, but still have the same problem. Also, the remote does not turn the TV on or off. It has new batteries. Not real concerned about the remote right now. Any suggestions from you? I did just purchase the power board to try that, but I'm not confident that will work either. What do you think? Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon. Great videos, by the way. Jerry
My screen when white , so i covered a few pins on the left ribbon cable , and now the right side is perfect but the left is less quality . Could this be the tcon board not delivering signal to some of them little test points next to the ribbon cable plug ? Or is it the panel ?
Bigdog, some advice if you dont mind? I have a UE48HU7505T, it has the same issues as above, the fuse on the T-Com is fine, the test points on the input ribbon from the main board is showing 0.52v or 0 on a lot of them, i cant turn the unit off, would this be an indicator that its actually the mainboard and not the T-Con? i have 12v 18v and 5v coming from the power board into the Mainboard, no chips on the main are very hot so i dont suspect a short. As there are only 3 boards on the TV (not including the driver boards on the panel) would it be worth replacing the Mainboard?
@@bigdog8882 Quick up date on this, traced the issue to the 41pin cable connector coming into the T-Con board, one of the flat ribbon traces that goes into the connector on the T-Con board, had lifted and was shorting itself on the pin directly next to it. this was giving me low 0.91v on the 1.2v VCC TP on both halves of the board, replacement cable and the screen sprang into life. But your video was immensely helpful Thank you very much bigdog.
awesome videos. but what if the tcon chip IS hot to the touch? what is this a sign of? I can't find any info on this. the same thing happens if I switch it out with a new board so I dont think it's actually the board itself.
Hello... I congratulate you for sharing your knowledge with those of us who are starting. Besides, I wanted to ask you a question. I have that same model of tv and what mine does is turn on and the logo appears with horizontal stripes but the screen looks perfect. After several minutes the leds turn off but the audio continues. If I turn it off and turn it on again, it looks good again, although a horizontal line is noticeable at the bottom but not as visible. What do you think might be causing this problem? Thank you so much.
hi i have samsung 55 model un55h6300afxza i already change the t-con board but still have no imeg it has sound but without picture what do you expected the panal still good?
To find a short. With a good PS inject a volt or two into the short. Use a IR camera and find the hot spot which will be a bad semiconductor or cap. Keep current low. You can spray the board with cold frost spray and the shorted hot area will melt fast. Pick up a cheap IR camera on eBay and hook it to your PC. If you can't find the short turn up current to 5 amps and if no short found go higher. Keep voltage way below the circuit voltage that is usually there.
I have a Samsung model UN55JU6500F. My problem is the screen is dim. The picture and sound are there it is just the picture is very dim. When it started the screen was kind of flashing bright to dim and now it is just dim. Is this the t con board or something else? Can you help with what part I need and the part number? Thank you
Just a question...Which part of the power supply board or other boards cab cause a severe shock and one has to be careful of...or what one has to do once we open the back to discharge for safety.
I am looking at a Samsung LN52C530F1F. It powers up and has an image. The problem appears to be erase related...static picture slowly clears and gives a good image. Video will give "ghosting" type blurring. I have been told that a drink was spilled at the bottom. Some corrosion was evident, on the bottom panels which I cleaned up with denatured alcohol. Problem did not change, jumped the gun and replaced T-Conn board with a new one. Still the same problem/symptoms. I am wondering about some type of shorting from the bottom panels to the frame shield or a capacitance issue from the corrosion which seemed to be only surface deep. I have checked the panel traces with a lighted loupe and do not see any type of pitting. Any thoughts on where I should check first? Thank you for your time and any guidance..
Hello I have a Vizio E701i-A3 and the top left screen was dark brown. The rest of the TV would work fine and I didn't have any lines. Would that be a tcon board?
nice video bigdog..very informative...one thing i want to ask..regarding the TCON that you tested on the last part of the video with the power supply...you test the fuse for short...what if the short to ground is from the other side (in the input if may i say)..is that means the short is on the motherboard...or when the safe time to replace the fuse of the tcon in order not to blew up the motherboard. i hope you understand..thank you very much..God Bless..
Hello. I’m subscribed and liked. My Tv is not turning on and I have flashing standby light. Replaced both the power and main boards. Same issue. With all cables unplugged from power board i am getting the correct voltage to main board but when I check voltage to the LEDs with out it connected it is showing 419 VDC+ volts to the first pin and none to the rest. Does this mean I have a bad IC?
Bigdog, nice in depth video. What if my backlight is flashing? I can see it flashing through the screw holes with the panel off. Which board could be the issue? I didn't see any damaged capacitors.. Please help! Kids are getting crazy over here.
@@bigdog8882 Mhmm. I got a UN60J6200AFXZA thats pretty much identical. Well it looks like I got some work to do.. Not looking forward to the "working on a car" position haha. Thanks Bigdog
I had half good and half bad screen, so i put off the ribbon cable (side on bad screen) beetwen tcon and lcd panel, clean it with rubber before put it on. Unfortunately, the ribbon cable got burn (two pin of 30 pin) leave with black screen both side screen but audio and blacklight on. Where do you think the problem been spread, tcon or bad panel ? Thank you for your sharing with intuitive style
followed your instructions, voltages above chip are 1.5V ish and voltages below chip to LCD is 25mV and below. would you say this is acceptable voltages or would you recommend replacing the T-con board? (backlights and sound working although no picture). thanks!
Dang this video is old and I could have used this years ago! It sucks this didn't come up when I searched years ago...but hopefully you can still help... I don't have the model number on hand but... It's a Samsung 55 that I found in the trash, the same symptom as this video. I opened it up and most of the LEDs were burnt out so I ordered new ones and replaced them, upon reassembly the panel slipped and I believe I damaged it... Now when it's turned on, it's all weird for a lack of better wording, believing I damaged the panel ribbon, is there a repair for this or is it basically a lost cause at this point? Our is there a source for a replacement that isn't more than a new tv unit lol

Very nice video man. I learn a thing or two today. Thanks for the tips.
No problem. Appreciate U
Or is it the panel ?
nice lecture...i fully understand
If the tv has no functions. Yeah I would suspect Main Issue.
Thank you
Not sure, but could be the backlights.
Very informative, to the point and easy to understand! Thank you bigdog8882
thanks for troubleshooting and good explaination.
Great info and very thorough. Thank you!
Nice informative vedio learn from it thank you very much
Just a question...Which part of the power supply board or other boards cab cause a severe shock and one has to be careful of...or what one has to do once we open the back to discharge for safety.
The primary side of the Power supply, Just put your meter on the big filter capacitors and make sure the DC volts is close to zero.
VERY GOOD JOB THANKS 😃
bravo man well explained and i learnt a lot from this video man, keep it up man great.
Thanks for watching.
BASHEER khan for sure man, me to man, I've got a proscan 55" thats having this issue man. This man really helped me out man.
Very good video.. Much appreciated... keep up the great work......
3:52 Love the tool man & great videos you make Dog :D
Have this same set. Backlight flickers but never comes on fully. Not seeing any damage on the power board. Any thoughts?
Grateful for your work!
Yeah Check the Capacitors (little brown ones) for 1 thats shorted like in my other video about the 55 LG tv.
Great job. Just getting into TV repair. Subscribed 👍😎🤠
Just unplug the Mother (mainboard) and recheck to see if the short goes away. Easy
Most likely You have bad led's inside the tv. th-cam.com/video/muxJKP_klVI/w-d-xo.html
@@bigdog8882 Mhmm. I got a UN60J6200AFXZA thats pretty much identical. Well it looks like I got some work to do.. Not looking forward to the "working on a car" position haha. Thanks Bigdog
You might want to check the capacitors they go shorted i have a video on that. Nice informative video and thats a mistake i almost made one time.
I know I had one like that about a week ago. Appreciate that! Thanks for watching.
very welcome
