As far as actually getting the "Engine" to pick up the headset I've tried it on PC and MAC with no luck UNTIL ding ding ding your right, your NEED the 2.4 GHZ dongle connected via USB cable. The dynamic range compression is so you can increase the volume without having distortion/earrape noises. Just use the slider to make sure all the orange is between the 2 lines and you can crank all those adjusters up to max without distortion.
I get crazy distorted audio when switching to immersion mode while playing Elden Ring. I switched back to the default and can't seem to get rid of the distorted audio. Never had a problem before trying this... Distortion only seems to be happening when low bassy audio is occurring. Even with compression set to have all the orange within the lines....
@@Arkhaine687 I had a little distortion at high volumes even with the compression set as well. I just turned it up some more and it seemed to do the trick
I have the 7x and love them, have a custom EQ. Bass isn't as punchy as the Razer Kaira which has insane sound quality (although it has some sound glitches and get weird bass reverb in Destiny 2)
Just got my headphones tonight and they sound absolutely amazing on PS5 and Series X. I think the sound is perfectly balanced and there is no need for changing the EQ.

@@BUKDUKDEE same problem for me on my mac, I contacted Steelseries. You have to go in the setting of your mac > security & privacy > input monitoring > add permission for the steelseries engine 3
@@ChisRBX I actually really like the immersive preset, its gives you a nice sense of your surroundings and really shines on games like uncharted, although the performance mode is good for shooters i prefer more bass so if you want the bass and the good shooter preset with nice loud footsteps then use the immersive but turn up the dial on the far right of the eq setting in the engine. To recap: Immersive is really good for story driven games. The performance mode is quite good for call of duty but if you prefer more bass for those games then either turn up the bass on performance mode (the sliders on the left) or go into immersive mode and turn up the high ends for more louder footsteps (the sliders on the right) I hope this helps! Happy gaming! PS: (All of the eqs are set up through the steelseries engine, so in my case i plug into an old 2010 macbookair to use the engine then unplug once its saved and then plug the headset back into the ps4. Things to note: the eqs will save to the dongle and the memory on the headset but they will not carry over to wired mode. If you want to change the eq for wired mode then if your on iOS you can do it through settings and it would surprise me if you could not change the wired eq on xbox. But all eq on wired have to be done on the device your using) AGAIN HOPE THIS HELPS! :) :)
Ideally you'd use the Steel Engine with a software like REW and a UMIK-1 measurement microphone so you can tweak the response so it's more flat. I just picked this up and that's what I plan on doing.
I bought the 7Ps for my PS5 and they sounded good out of the box however it wasn’t until I messed with the EQ settings that they started to sound great. It was until Amazon had a Deal of the Day on the Arctic Pro Wireless that I returned them to Best Buy and picked up the Pros, they sound a tad better than the 7Ps but nothing crazy. They do however feel more premium. 😎

I don't play MP competitively anymore, just for fun and entertainment, so I don't need to hear footsteps from 100 yards away. I actually listen to music the whole time I game so no point in listening to someone tip toeing up behind me. However, this is a very good headset. I have the 7X which I believe is exactly the same headset, except for Xbox. I can also use it perfectly well with my PS4 Pro. I found that the 'music' preset is actually very spot on for general all around good sound, whether listening to music, movies, or gaming. I played with the EQ for 2 weeks and avoided the presets, when actually, the presets are pretty damn spot on for different things. I love being able to just take the dongle and plug it into whatever, and it just works. Also, the dongle puts out one of the strongest signals I've ever seen for a wireless headset. I can walk around the apartment and stay connected. Very solid. I don't mind that it doesn't have bluetooth option. I have a Penrose X with bluetooth and thought I'd use it all the time. I never use it... The 7X would be the perfect headset if it had 50mm drivers. 40mm is fine, but it doesn't have quite the theater boom that my Penrose X does. Regardless, it still sounds good and the bass is sufficient, and I like bass. In my opinion the 7X (and probably the 7P) is probably the best all around headset under 200, and the most versatile working on all platforms, with the most solid wireless connections.

I love my 7p so much! This guy is solid I like his vids as well. Immersion really sucks in fps for sure of course it’s kinda for story modes so I guess it makes sense. I honestly liked stock eq settings compared to performance though as well. I can’t adjust my eq though so like each setting I’ve been able to apply I’ve bern stuck with atleast a month each 😂. Stock flat through probably sounded the best to me other than footsteps of course performance let me hear footsteps further away but that was literally it. In apex if I break someone’s shield and I have the volume way up it sounds pretty awful terrible performance but I’m new to the headset game so maybe that’s common knowledge you kinda give up perfect quality so you can hear footsteps further away not sure 🤷♂️.
@@TallAndThin123 yeah i was actually ready dissapointed when plugging into my series s and max volume was just ridiculous level low, using dolby atmos, i had to change dolby atmos to fix it, which i didnt need to do with my 3d pulse, a headset not even designed for xbox. Then i figured lets mess around with the equalisation, and immersion seems to be the one, i only play single player but performance is for multiplayer 100 percent, dolby atmos has the same setting called performance and tooltip mentioned its for multiplayer
My daily headset for the PS4 was the Turtle Beach Elite 800. I took a chance on the Steelseries Arctis 7p and let me just say the difference is night and day. Even after adjusting the EQ settings on the Arctis 7p, it legit cannot hang with the Turtle Beach Elite 800 AT ALL. I was so disappointed as I really wanted a new headset with the same colour scheme as the PS5. I ended up returning the Steelseries and bought a 4k 60hz HDMI audio extractor so that I can still use the Turtle Beach even though the PS5 doesn't have an optical port. I turned off 3d audio on the PS5 sound settings and the Turtle Beach sounds exactly the same now. I guess I'll be sticking to it this generation

Found out that my previously customized curve was pretty similarly shaped compared to the "Immersion" preset, albeit with slightly higher high frequency and slightly lower low frequency.
Once you change the bass (first notch on the EQ) anywhere above or below by 0.1 on them you will notice static(crackling) noise during certain situations. Like kill streaks or flash bangs or deep rumble scenes in movies. Its Clear if left at zero (which was the way it was shipped)
@@MrBananaFan when I play in performance man on apex if I’m blaring my headset like 85 -90% the cracked sounds like one of the worst sounds I’ve ever heard. But In the stock eq setting for factory (which is flat across the board) every single sound sounds incredible. They really got their drivers tuned just right in my opinion. Lovin em on my ps5.
I actually use home theater. It's a little annoying to get used to at first because it makes other sounds too loud but it makes foot steps clearer as well
The dynamic range compression helps too, it basically reduces the difference in volume level in loud sounds and quiet sounds. So with it all the way up footsteps are around the same volume as explosions so it allows you to hear footsteps loudly without the volume being too loud when you get in a fight, i put mine at medium so i can hear footsteps better but it doesn’t sound to unnatural
Hey mate, I’ve bought the Arctis 7 for the PS5 as can’t find the 7p anywhere in oz. The voice chat slider doesn’t work which isn’t a deal breaker but is the 3D sound the same for both headsets? Contemplating returning and buying 7p from US Amazon but not sure if its worth it?
compression makes hearing easier not harder. makes gun shots quieter and foot steps louder. this allows you to raise everything with out gun shots making you go deaf.
Thanks for your very well explained video! Wasn't sure which one to get for the PS5, if these or Sony's Pulse 3D and ended up buying the Pulse. Haven't tried any SteelSeries headphones before and I own a pair of Sony's MDR-1A on my PC and they're awesome, amazing wired sound quality. So went for the Pulse and... huge mistake. The sound isn't terrible but they are sooo unconfortable and feel so cheap, that I had to try the Arctis 7P, which I should've bought in the 1st place. Today I have been trying both on PS5 with various games and music and I found the Pulse's sound to actually be better. The trebles on the 7P are too high by default, but after some twitching on the EQ software in PC, I managed to improve them and I followed your advice: "immersion" really is the best setting, for music and games (and a bit more twitching). But even if they didn't sound as good as Sony's, they are so much more confortable that I'd keep them and sell the Pulse (which I will do). Even the buttons are terrible. Everything apart from the sound is terrible on Pulse 3D and even that it isn't that good.
Geat video! I can't decide between arctis 7p and 9... does the second ones support the 3d audio? In Italy the 7s cost 180€ n the 9s 199€ (with these ones I could also have bluetooth), that's why I'm undecided

Razor is optimised mostly for PC mate, go for steel series arctis 7p if you want to play on your ps5, it's 3d audio compatible so you will get the most out of it.

Are you using the wireless transmitter to connect the headset to the engine? My transmitter broke so i was wondering if there was any other way i could get the engine to pick up my headset. The transmitter is also sold out here in the uk so its a bit of a pain in the ass right now. Thanks.

The arctis 7p+ has identical internals to the arctis 7p. I'm pretty sure the only difference between the both is the charging port, the 7p+ is USB C and the 7p a micro USB. So what he's telling you in the video is pretty much the best EQ settings for your headset 👍
@@Mr_WRD hey man. Not the case unfortunately. The equalizer on the 7p+ is different that the 7p, there are more settings… trying to like this headset but the sound is so tin can right now with pretty much any of the presets.

Had to adjust the dolby atmos, now there good but i shouldn't have to change anything, my 3d pulse work on my series s when tethered to controller and they were nice and loud, no messing about. Still these are the best set of headphones ive had. Love the steel, allthough would prefer the ear cup to be metal, the outershell of course. Not the pads.
You can update them using they engien software on they website . Just donwload , install , plug in 7p and outomatic checks for an update .uder the headset bar
This is great and all, but what about the audio settings in game? Do we set it to headphones or 7.1 surround? I've tried both and I think it's better to have 7.1 but I'm not sure if that's what I'm supposed to do.
What settings do you think would be best for Cyberpunk 2077? I just chose immersion and tweaked the bass and treble a bit and am about to see how it goes. This will be my first time using the Arctic 7P.
@@picsoleated Thanks for getting back to me dude. The custom setting I chose worked out great. The Arctis 7P is so much better than Sony’s 3D headset. I’m hearing sounds those don’t pick up. BTW I had to switch off the PS5’s 3D audio setting. When turned on the Arctis is flat af and the 3D doesn’t work for some reason.
Yeah was really disappointed, i dont pay 140 to barely hear anything, this on xbox too. Designed for xbox, suposed to be ffs. My 3d pulse were nice and loud without messing about. On xbox.
bro , just tuned them to performance last night , and wow , thy really brightened the WZ audio up ! I really prefer more clarity than a rumble and this is definitely it . i tried it on midnight mode in game settings . and will try it on boost next time to see whats the sweet spot , but man definitely a game changer for me , thank you for making this video bro 🙏🏻
@@gregguziar3469 if i want to play loud i use midnight mode since it kind if mellows it down. But for the most part i now play boost high , performance mode ** as suggested , and turn off the 3d audio in the ps5 settings . I really dont like bass ( in this game ) so i prefer clarity over that rumble . i found that with all the tuning and then adding the 3d audio , it was just not accurate. like the sound was going crazy . @@picsoleated So I ended up trying out different settings, only to end up going with the original "flat" setting. I found the "immersive" mode to have too much bass to the point where I heard distortion.
@@MrZanthiago I think the EQ settings and 3d audio clash. Maybe turn off 3d audio if you use EQ settings? I just ordered mine. I'm happy to hear it sounds good without the EQ settings. I don't want to have to mess with a PC.

IF im on windows 10 desktop pc what do i do? my arctis 9x wont show up on the steelseries engine and i connected it with a wireless xbox dongle and tried bluetooth and it still does not show up on the software. Why does the ps5 still say it’s connected when the headsets off? It’s kind of annoying when I’m trying to watch tv and have to unplug the usb just to hear the tv.
Turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2 does this too. I have both headsets. Ended up buy the steel series because of the static noise I get while on menus on my PS5 But I’m having mixed feelings from a this 7p. I really love the turtle beaches

Guys, I am on Mac 11.1 and really struggling to even connect the headphones to the software engine, it says 'not seeing your gear'. The headphones are connect via the USC cable and light is on the headphones so its obviously a Mac issue. Any ideas? Thanks
Is it just me where others can hear EVERYTHING through your mic on Arctis 7p on PS5. It's way too sensitive and also the directional mic either is picking up too loud or I sound super far away (I'm told).
yeah the mic does pick up a lot of noise. certain games have in game settings that will allow you to increase your mics noisegate or "mic threshold" to reduce how much background noise it picks up
The driver doesn't work on Macs with 3.0 usb ports it will not recognize the headphones when they are plugged in. You need to do it on a Windows Machine to tweak the EQ. They literally tell you on the third page of the guide book you can download the engine to set up the EQ.
How do I connect it if my pc don’t have a USB-C slot ? Sorry if I didn’t understand but do I have to connect it to the adapter that comes with the headset then plug in to pc ?
Yeah i found Immersion to be too much in the low end and i struggled to hear anything. Looking at the EQ, Precision seems the best so will try that. On another note, when playing Warzone, if you play with PS4 players, are you finding the in game chat total inaudible? Normal chat rooms are great but cross gen in game chat is just rubbish. Be interested to know if it is me or if a bug?

I have purchased the arctis 7 2019 wireless edition using it on my ps5 I’ve enable the 7.1 using steel engine however 3D audio is also enabled on the ps5 am I correct in thinking one of these settings needs to be turned off on either the arctis software or on the ps5 settings ?

Regardless, it still sounds good and the bass is sufficient, and I like bass. In my opinion the 7X (and probably the 7P) is probably the best all around headset under 200, and the most versatile working on all platforms, with the most solid wireless connections.

I love my 7p so much! This guy is solid I like his vids as well. Immersion really sucks in fps for sure of course it’s kinda for story modes so I guess it makes sense. I honestly liked stock eq settings compared to performance though as well. I can’t adjust my eq though so like each setting I’ve been able to apply I’ve bern stuck with atleast a month each 😂. Stock flat through probably sounded the best to me other than footsteps of course performance let me hear footsteps further away but that was literally it. In apex if I break someone’s shield and I have the volume way up it sounds pretty awful terrible performance but I’m new to the headset game so maybe that’s common knowledge you kinda give up perfect quality so you can hear footsteps further away not sure 🤷♂️.

@@TallAndThin123 yeah i was actually ready dissapointed when plugging into my series s and max volume was just ridiculous level low, using dolby atmos, i had to change dolby atmos to fix it, which i didnt need to do with my 3d pulse, a headset not even designed for xbox. Then i figured lets mess around with the equalisation, and immersion seems to be the one, i only play single player but performance is for multiplayer 100 percent, dolby atmos has the same setting called performance and tooltip mentioned its for multiplayer

My daily headset for the PS4 was the Turtle Beach Elite 800. I took a chance on the Steelseries Arctis 7p and let me just say the difference is night and day. Even after adjusting the EQ settings on the Arctis 7p, it legit cannot hang with the Turtle Beach Elite 800 AT ALL. I was so disappointed as I really wanted a new headset with the same colour scheme as the PS5.
I ended up returning the Steelseries and bought a 4k 60hz HDMI audio extractor so that I can still use the Turtle Beach even though the PS5 doesn't have an optical port. I turned off 3d audio on the PS5 sound settings and the Turtle Beach sounds exactly the same now. I guess I'll be sticking to it this generation

Found out that my previously customized curve was pretty similarly shaped compared to the "Immersion" preset, albeit with slightly higher high frequency and slightly lower low frequency.

Once you change the bass (first notch on the EQ) anywhere above or below by 0.1 on them you will notice static(crackling) noise during certain situations. Like kill streaks or flash bangs or deep rumble scenes in movies. Its Clear if left at zero (which was the way it was shipped)

85 -90% the cracked sounds like one of the worst sounds I’ve ever heard. But In the stock eq setting for factory (which is flat across the board) every single sound sounds incredible. They really got their drivers tuned just right in my opinion. Lovin em on my ps5.

The dynamic range compression cranked up at Medium for Battlefield 2042 beta is highly recommended. Feels like ur in a real battlefield.

I actually use home theater. It's a little annoying to get used to at first because it makes other sounds too loud but it makes foot steps clearer as well
I use boost high with the Arctic 7p on performance. But I feel other settings like home theatre and dynamic just as good

The dynamic range compression helps too, it basically reduces the difference in volume level in loud sounds and quiet sounds. So with it all the way up footsteps are around the same volume as explosions so it allows you to hear footsteps loudly without the volume being too loud when you get in a fight, i put mine at medium so i can hear footsteps better but it doesn’t sound to unnatural

Hey mate, I’ve bought the Arctis 7 for the PS5 as can’t find the 7p anywhere in oz. The voice chat slider doesn’t work which isn’t a deal breaker but is the 3D sound the same for both headsets? Contemplating returning and buying 7p from US Amazon but not sure if its worth it?
compression makes hearing easier not harder. makes gun shots quieter and foot steps louder. this allows you to raise everything with out gun shots making you go deaf.

Thanks for your very well explained video! Wasn't sure which one to get for the PS5, if these or Sony's Pulse 3D and ended up buying the Pulse. Haven't tried any SteelSeries headphones before and I own a pair of Sony's MDR-1A on my PC and they're awesome, amazing wired sound quality. So went for the Pulse and... huge mistake. The sound isn't terrible but they are sooo unconfortable and feel so cheap, that I had to try the Arctis 7P, which I should've bought in the 1st place. Today I have been trying both on PS5 with various games and music and I found the Pulse's sound to actually be better. The trebles on the 7P are too high by default, but after some twitching on the EQ software in PC, I managed to improve them and I followed your advice: "immersion" really is the best setting, for music and games (and a bit more twitching). But even if they didn't sound as good as Sony's, they are so much more confortable that I'd keep them and sell the Pulse (which I will do). Even the buttons are terrible. Everything apart from the sound is terrible on Pulse 3D and even that it isn't that good.

Razor is optimised mostly for PC mate, go for steel series arctis 7p if you want to play on your ps5, it's 3d audio compatible so you will get the most out of it.

The arctis 7p+ has identical internals to the arctis 7p. I'm pretty sure the only difference between the both is the charging port, the 7p+ is USB C and the 7p a micro USB. So what he's telling you in the video is pretty much the best EQ settings for your headset 👍
@@Mr_WRD hey man. Not the case unfortunately. The equalizer on the 7p+ is different that the 7p, there are more settings… trying to like this headset but the sound is so tin can right now with pretty much any of the presets.

Had to adjust the dolby atmos, now there good but i shouldn't have to change anything, my 3d pulse work on my series s when tethered to controller and they were nice and loud, no messing about. Still these are the best set of headphones ive had. Love the steel, allthough would prefer the ear cup to be metal, the outershell of course. Not the pads.

You can update them using they engien software on they website . Just donwload , install , plug in 7p and outomatic checks for an update .uder the headset bar
This is great and all, but what about the audio settings in game? Do we set it to headphones or 7.1 surround? I've tried both and I think it's better to have 7.1 but I'm not sure if that's what I'm supposed to do.
Yeah allways go for 7.1, unless theres an option for virtual surround, if so choose that.

@@picsoleated Thanks for getting back to me dude. The custom setting I chose worked out great. The Arctis 7P is so much better than Sony’s 3D headset. I’m hearing sounds those don’t pick up. BTW I had to switch off the PS5’s 3D audio setting. When turned on the Arctis is flat af and the 3D doesn’t work for some reason.
Do you find the max volume levels aren’t that high? I’ve changed the ps5 headphone volume up to 100% as well.
Yeah was really disappointed, i dont pay 140 to barely hear anything, this on xbox too. Designed for xbox, suposed to be ffs. My 3d pulse were nice and loud without messing about. On xbox.
bro , just tuned them to performance last night , and wow , thy really brightened the WZ audio up ! I really prefer more clarity than a rumble and this is definitely it . i tried it on midnight mode in game settings . and will try it on boost next time to see whats the sweet spot , but man definitely a game changer for me , thank you for making this video bro 🙏🏻

@@gregguziar3469 if i want to play loud i use midnight mode since it kind if mellows it down. But for the most part i now play boost high , performance mode ** as suggested , and turn off the 3d audio in the ps5 settings . I really dont like bass ( in this game ) so i prefer clarity over that rumble . i found that with all the tuning and then adding the 3d audio , it was just not accurate. like the sound was going crazy . Hope this helps

Why does the ps5 still say it’s connected when the headsets off? It’s kind of annoying when I’m trying to watch tv and have to unplug the usb just to hear the tv.
You can just switch the sound output in the sound settings instead of unplugging it every time

Turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2 does this too. I have both headsets. Ended up buy the steel series because of the static noise I get while on menus on my PS5

Guys, I am on Mac 11.1 and really struggling to even connect the headphones to the software engine, it says 'not seeing your gear'. The headphones are connect via the USC cable and light is on the headphones so its obviously a Mac issue. Any ideas? Thanks
On your Mac, try checking System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Input Monitoring > add permission for SSE.

Is it just me where others can hear EVERYTHING through your mic on Arctis 7p on PS5. It's way too sensitive and also the directional mic either is picking up too loud or I sound super far away (I'm told).
yeah the mic does pick up a lot of noise. certain games have in game settings that will allow you to increase your mics noisegate or "mic threshold" to reduce how much background noise it picks up

The driver doesn't work on Macs with 3.0 usb ports it will not recognize the headphones when they are plugged in. You need to do it on a Windows Machine to tweak the EQ. They literally tell you on the third page of the guide book you can download the engine to set up the EQ.
yes it works on mac but you have to add permission for the steelseries engine in the setting of the mac > security & privacy > input monitoring
