Hi I hope you play on pc because these atlas are mostly for pc I'm rocking the nova pro wireless fir my ps5 and the astro a50x but haven't touched the astro a50x since I've been using the nova pro wireless I have the new white edition nova pro decked out in the snow white wicked cushions and the snow white silicone band and side plates awesome if you can afford them astro a50x too much bass so I don't think these new turtle beach are going to outshine the nova pro white edition I don't want to downgrade but stay safe and happy gaming to all

I am still wondering though, if that was stupid and the 5 is better with more battery life and a newer device...? I originally assumed the 7 had different compnents or something but it seems they are basically identical? Great videos thanks for the help.

FYI for all Xbox Series owners, you can play Spotify and possibly other streaming audio apps simultaneously with your game and have full control of volume balance between both. Just run your game, press the Xbox button, select the audio streaming service in the menu, press the xbox button and go back to your game while keeping music in the background.
The difference in the mic quality between the Nova 7 and Nova 5’s is mad crazy, My SteelSeries 7p+ Headphones just quit on me and picked up the Nova 5’s and my god they are amazing . UPDATE: Returned Arctis Nova 5’s and went with Arctis Nova 7’s and they are amazing. The fact i can use bluetooth and 2.4 Audio at the same time is amazing. Mic isn’t as bad as i thought.

My 7x broke due to carelessness, being able to simultaneously hear your game + talk over your phone is nice for a while but playing online games that has built in voice chat function like GTA V - you will lose the simultaneous feature so if I'm talking to someone on my phone, I need to switch off my bluetooth or hang up in order to use voice chat in PC game. I'll go try 5x this time. Thanks for the great comparison.
I was in the same boat decision wise just last week when my 2yr old got a hold of my 7X and broke them. I was using my old back up Nova 1 model and realized the 5 is very similar to them build wise. I got the Nova 5 for $110 on sale then paid $30 for the Wicked Cushions Freeze. Absolutely pleased with them as they sound identical to my old 7X but fit my smaller head much more sect. Also my friends told me right away that the microphone was much clearer.

I just purchased the 7x and found this video sold me. 100% returning the 7x and already ordered the nova 5 wireless along with the wicked cushions black camo combo. All for less than the price of the 7x, more lightweight, with access to the app for eq on the fly. Dont need the bluetooth. I play Spotify in the background on my Series X and can even control it via my phone app (volume, control of songs, easier to search on phone)
I just want to ask, if you returned it, did they give you a refund or just exchange the item? And since the Nova 5 is much cheaper, did they refund you the difference?
What a great review! I literally bought the 7s yesterday and I am taking them back because the app control is a must for me!! Its a real shame that Steel Series cant update the 7s firmware to add the app control. Thank you for the information.

@@dyunjiiee Yes I returned it to Bestbuy and they gave me my money back. The Nova 5 is an ok headset. i dont know if I would recommend it as the audio is spotty. I am guessing the 2.4ghz interreference is the reason. Everything in my house runs on tha band and the audio often crackles which is not good at all. My old Nova 7s with the metal cans may not have been as good sounding but they had solid audio without the crackling and interference. The Nova 5s seem like a much cheaply made product. i would give 7 out of 10.

Not sure if you mentioned but the Bluetooth version is also bumped up on the 5 to 5.3 from version 5.0 on the 7’s. This is good news for the 5 especially with app support you are getting better stability
Got the 7’s after watching your reviews and I love them! My favourite headset. Had the old pro wired for 4 years. These sound more full. Better for both story and fps. Some gg tweaking made them even better. But one of the best out the box headsets I’ve had
I have the nova 7p and have for about a year. Added the wc ear pads and headband. But my biggest complaint is the loose fit. I have a small head, so when I put my head just down they slide right off. Also I've been told the mic picks up the baby monitors on stream amd in party chat. The other thing the nova 5 doesn't have is a 3.5mm wired capability. It's important to fight wireless interference
Thanks for this review. I was thinking: oh shoot I should have gotten the 5x but then you brought up that they don’t support duel inputs and I feel good about my 7x again. Yeah it’s kind of a niche feature but once you get used to it like I did with my old Arctis 3 BT (that was an aux cable and Bluetooth duel input style) it’s hard to go back to other headphones.
Had 7p for a month, sent them back and got nova 5x for PS5 due to the better mic and app support However, I'm not happy with them already and gonna go back to nova 7p because: 1. Headband fits more tight on head and I have a large head, , I get headaches in a hour with nova 5. The all plastic has less clamping vs metal 7 band. 2. Elastic head band is cheaper and doesn't fit as good as nova 7, its too long and allows less adjustments. 3. Ear coverings are cheaper and more rough feeling on skin, not as soft as nova 7 4. App has a hard time connecting to headset if you don't follow exact steps 5. Setting custom eq still requires pc connection, cannot be done on app.
THAANK YOUUU... I just bought the 7P for my boyfriend because they were more expensive, and I thought it was better to give a good quailty headset! I was afraid of having spent more money for a bad headset compared to the nova 5

@z2jk576 I think it's hard to go wrong with the nova 5x. They are very good.. I am big on the turtle beach stealth pro right now. Drop also has the PC38X that I would recommend if you like wired.
Nice video. It's exactly what I wanted to know to compare the two. I wonder when the successor to the Nova 7 is coming. I hope they keep the volume dials and buttons recessed and away from the edge. I'm with you, I don't like the buttons and dials easy to be tagged by a hoodie, a jacket or while playing on the living room couch as your head rests against the couch back.
My wife just purchased me the Artics nova pro as a early Christmas gift and man ol man they are incredible! I have the Artics pro wireless and it has been amazing for 5yrs and just started going out and I was so crushed I went out and grabbed the SteelSeries gaming buds and those are nice 👍🏾 to game with as well, though the mic could be better they do the trick and you can swap from Bluetooth to 2.4 with a tap of the button. SteelSeries will be my go to forever if their quality remains as is! I think 🤔 I’ll purchase some turtle beaches as well since I’ve never owned any.
With the Nova 5X Wireless, can you change the audio presets in the steelseries software as well? Because I don't have a phone capable of using the app, but I WOULD like to give those audio presets a try.
Would be nice to hear the difference when the mic is in. I have 2019 arctics 9 wireless and i use the mic fully in the cup and it works almost as good as fully extracted.
Hey Techne, excellent video as always. Not sure if you pointed this out, but another drawback(correct me if I'm wrong) with the Nova 7's is that you can't load any of the recently added presets via PC to the 7's either. I think that option was only capable with the Nova pro's to the basestation.
Even the nova Pros aren't true parametric EQ on console when saved to the dac those profiles are just still graphics Eq they made for the pro with the same names as the sonar parameric Eq for pc, nova 5 and astro a50x at 380£ are only two current headsets I know that can save them, surprised he didn't make a bigger deal about that in this vid. At 130£ it's a no brainer over the nova 7s now
@@o0wildy0o Even the Astro a50x can only download parametric EQ presets on PC. If you're only on console you have to use the mobile app. And the app can't download Eq presets. So you have to make your own eq's.

Thanks, this has definitely made me decide on the Nova 5. I accidently broke my 3yr old Logitech Lightspeed headset, and they were perfect for me as a female gamer with a small head. Need lightweight and these sound perfect. I don't need them for calls, just for gaming only, so having to switch for calls, doesn't bother me. Thanks for a great review🙏🏼

I recently bought the Nova 7X for my PS5 and love it. I was wondering if the app on PC for it, when making or using the premade or custom profiles, ( per frequency tweak or per game name like Destiny, etc) actually carries over to the headset for consoles? Same question about the new 5X.
I used the gg engine on my laptop to EQ them for ps5. Gadgetry tech did a good EQ for these. It just fixed someone of the wonky sound and they sound much better. If you like a clean, natural sound
@@KillaBean416will the sonar work on console with the 5x? Because it looks like those “presets” for different games are in the sonar tab of the gg software. Which would make me think you can adjust the parametric eq in sonar to work on console. I believe the correct term is (parametric lol)

I've been looking at the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X on Amazon, it has a 49% discount at the moment. Same for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7. I'm not sure which one to get. I use it mainly for MOBA games and Microsoft Teams everyday since I work form home. There are so many different models I'm a bit lost which one to get...
Which one would be better for my situation? I can only play PC games during work while waiting for customer calls. Should I go for the Nova 7, or would the Nova 5 be a better choice? I could just switch to Bluetooth for calls when using the Nova 5, and it’s much cheaper with better mic quality. Please help me decide, thank you!
If you want to call use the mic headset (switch dongle to bt instantly) then get the nova 5, cuz its got better bluetooth 5.3 (vs 5.0) and miles ahead better mic out of the box

It sucks you cant use the 5s on a wired connection. Even my Nova 3 could do that. They did break on that connection to the cup though. Also for anyone who may be reading this later... I have a pretty normal size head, and the strap tightened all the way was still almost not tight enough to fit. So smaller heads may have trouble with these. Not sure if all suspension headsets are like this.

@@tefomvp8653 I'm interested in the TB myself but will wait for a few reviews. I much prefer TB sound to SS headsets as they are always more powerful sounding. I just don't like SS sound profile. Too sterile and they never get loud enough.

@@Shanksta1221 it came in today. It seems alright. I can’t hear a big difference between the preset eq settings. I can switch back and forth between my ps5 and Apple TV with the quick switch button, but for some reason it doesn’t work with my iPad which is why I tried it with Apple TV. Even though it’s connected in settings and in the app, sound will not play through the headphones and still plays on the iPad itself. Will be contacting support.
No wired option on the 5 might be dealbreaker. Does anyone know if 5’s can charge and connect wirelessly at the same time? A combination of the 5 and 7 would be the ultimate gaming headphones.
I test mine charging to laptop while using dongle and it works just fine, it also connected to my phone so i can just switch and notified if there is any call
Can you use the Nova 5 as a 3.5mm wired headset like the Nova 7? I can't find that information anywhere. I occasionally use my headset with a Steam Deck which can't charge and use the dongle at the same time unfortunately.
Is there any reason to go with the X version if I don't own a Xbox and probably never will? Also an important thing to mention is that the Nova 5 can't be used wired while the Nova 7 can.
Im confused at what you mean about a switcher, if you have the usb plugged into the pc do you have to take it out and plug it into your ps5 for the headset to work on there?
Bought logitech headphones probably 2 years ago after watching tons of your review videos about different ones. Great headphones but recently broke its plastic and now looking for new ones can you make a video on the best headphone for FPS gaming like CS2, Valorant and story games under 150 usd wired and wireless both somehow only logitech are ones selling wireless in my country at the same price point as USA where as the hyperx, razor etc the wireless versions sell for 2x prices.

same, they just fall when you are bending. My pair had horrible sound even with eq change, returned them and stayed with Pulse 3D
yeah the 7's are a bit looser than the 5's

The best EQ preset I found, in my opinion, is "Hunt Showdown." Sounds the best overall.

Only reason I'd get nova 5 is the app. But if they are going to allow the nova 7s use the app eventually. No point swapping

Nice video. It's exactly what I wanted to know to compare the two. I wonder when the successor to the Nova 7 is coming. I hope they keep the volume dials and buttons recessed and away from the edge. I'm with you, I don't like the buttons and dials easy to be tagged by a hoodie, a jacket or while playing on the living room couch as your head rests against the couch back.

My wife just purchased me the Artics nova pro as a early Christmas gift and man ol man they are incredible! I have the Artics pro wireless and it has been amazing for 5yrs and just started going out and I was so crushed I went out and grabbed the SteelSeries gaming buds and those are nice 👍🏾 to game with as well, though the mic could be better they do the trick and you can swap from Bluetooth to 2.4 with a tap of the button. SteelSeries will be my go to forever if their quality remains as is! I think 🤔 I’ll purchase some turtle beaches as well since I’ve never owned any.

With the Nova 5X Wireless, can you change the audio presets in the steelseries software as well? Because I don't have a phone capable of using the app, but I WOULD like to give those audio presets a try.
Would be nice to hear the difference when the mic is in. I have 2019 arctics 9 wireless and i use the mic fully in the cup and it works almost as good as fully extracted.
Hey Techne, excellent video as always. Not sure if you pointed this out, but another drawback(correct me if I'm wrong) with the Nova 7's is that you can't load any of the recently added presets via PC to the 7's either. I think that option was only capable with the Nova pro's to the basestation.
Even the nova Pros aren't true parametric EQ on console when saved to the dac those profiles are just still graphics Eq they made for the pro with the same names as the sonar parameric Eq for pc, nova 5 and astro a50x at 380£ are only two current headsets I know that can save them, surprised he didn't make a bigger deal about that in this vid. At 130£ it's a no brainer over the nova 7s now

Even the Astro a50x can only download parametric EQ presets on PC. If you're only on console you have to use the mobile app. And the app can't download Eq presets. So you have to make your own eq's.
7:29 for me the battery life is a big reason to consider the 5X and accept it doesn't play simultaneous audio sources. Thanks for the in-depth review

Thanks, this has definitely made me decide on the Nova 5. I accidently broke my 3yr old Logitech Lightspeed headset, and they were perfect for me as a female gamer with a small head. Need lightweight and these sound perfect. I don't need them for calls, just for gaming only, so having to switch for calls, doesn't bother me. Thanks for a great review🙏🏼

Bought the nova 7’s for $120 on sale. Is it worth returning for the 5’s? App would be nice, but I like the premium feel of the 7’s. Do you think they’ll be able to make an app for the 7’s now?

I recently bought the Nova 7X for my PS5 and love it. I was wondering if the app on PC for it, when making or using the premade or custom profiles, ( per frequency tweak or per game name like Destiny, etc) actually carries over to the headset for consoles? Same question about the new 5X.
I used the gg engine on my laptop to EQ them for ps5. Gadgetry tech did a good EQ for these. It just fixed someone of the wonky sound and they sound much better. If you like a clean, natural sound
And yes it does save to the headset. I tested by making the worst eq possible then went back to ps5 and safe to say, it works 😂
Sonar doesn’t work on consoles … but the GG engine does
@@KillaBean416will the sonar work on console with the 5x? Because it looks like those “presets” for different games are in the sonar tab of the gg software. Which would make me think you can adjust the parametric eq in sonar to work on console. I believe the correct term is (parametric lol)

Hey sorry to bug ya man but I just recently got the nova 7p for pc even though it's for playstation. Specifically the destiny version bc it was on sale for 110 bucks. It's already back to like 170. I am still wondering though, if that was stupid and the 5 is better with more battery life and a newer device...? I originally assumed the 7 had different compnents or something but it seems they are basically identical? Great videos thanks for the help.

I've been looking at the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X on Amazon, it has a 49% discount at the moment. Same for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7. I'm not sure which one to get. I use it mainly for MOBA games and Microsoft Teams everyday since I work form home. There are so many different models I'm a bit lost which one to get...

If you want to call use the mic headset (switch dongle to bt instantly) then get the nova 5, cuz its got better bluetooth 5.3 (vs 5.0) and miles ahead better mic out of the box

It sucks you cant use the 5s on a wired connection. Even my Nova 3 could do that. They did break on that connection to the cup though. Also for anyone who may be reading this later... I have a pretty normal size head, and the strap tightened all the way was still almost not tight enough to fit. So smaller heads may have trouble with these. Not sure if all suspension headsets are like this.

Don't do it. The sound quality from the H6 Pro's blows SS headsets out of the water.

@@tefomvp8653 I'm interested in the TB myself but will wait for a few reviews. I much prefer TB sound to SS headsets as they are always more powerful sounding. I just don't like SS sound profile. Too sterile and they never get loud enough.

Nova 5x dongle support Xbox consoles on top of nova 5 supported devices. It’s compatible with all consoles.

@@Shanksta1221 it came in today. It seems alright. I can’t hear a big difference between the preset eq settings. I can switch back and forth between my ps5 and Apple TV with the quick switch button, but for some reason it doesn’t work with my iPad which is why I tried it with Apple TV. Even though it’s connected in settings and in the app, sound will not play through the headphones and still plays on the iPad itself. Will be contacting support.
No wired option on the 5 might be dealbreaker. Does anyone know if 5’s can charge and connect wirelessly at the same time? A combination of the 5 and 7 would be the ultimate gaming headphones.

I test mine charging to laptop while using dongle and it works just fine, it also connected to my phone so i can just switch and notified if there is any call

Can you use the Nova 5 as a 3.5mm wired headset like the Nova 7? I can't find that information anywhere. I occasionally use my headset with a Steam Deck which can't charge and use the dongle at the same time unfortunately.
There was another reviewer that pointed out the Nova 7 has 3.5mm jack but not the 5
Is there any reason to go with the X version if I don't own a Xbox and probably never will? Also an important thing to mention is that the Nova 5 can't be used wired while the Nova 7 can.

Bought logitech headphones probably 2 years ago after watching tons of your review videos about different ones. Great headphones but recently broke its plastic and now looking for new ones can you make a video on the best headphone for FPS gaming like CS2, Valorant and story games under 150 usd wired and wireless both somehow only logitech are ones selling wireless in my country at the same price point as USA where as the hyperx, razor etc the wireless versions sell for 2x prices.
