On one hand I understand that you would need at least 60 hours in this kind of game to truly understand it. But this kind of game is not for everyone and those who are incapable of enjoying JRPG's are still legitamatly allowed to review the game and share their opinions. If they rate this kind of game after only 30 or 40 hours that's kind of on them. It still important to read many different positions and opinions regardless if you agree or disagree. (And this is also important if you ever get into video game production to look at both sides of the spectrum in game appeal.)

@@thewise_1one856 I’m 31 and it’s the best game I’ve ever played. It’s my Game of the Decade and Game of the Century. For game of the century I would guess you’d have to compare non electronic games (board games) in the years where there weren’t any video games. And I’m not kidding with those personal accolades I gave it. It was made with attention of detail of a classic game but with a modern open world design and modern graphics, physics, and technology. The game have an unprecedented amount of depth in its open world as well.
@@KissesLoveKawaii I am playing Wrath of the Righteous right now and while it's fun, it's not on the level of Xenoblade imo. The production value of the latter is so much higher with the beautiful world and the insane amount of cutscenes etc.

I love Xenoblade 2. Though it definitely has its flaws. Its definitely not trash though. Peoples biggest problems with it were usually the voice acting, the loading times and some of the design choices.
IGN and Game Informer are crap these days. I haven't trusted their work for years. Some of these reviews seem to be done by people who just don't play JRPGs. All 3 mixed reviews look to just be of questionable quality. The National POST review which tried hard to make you think they knew what they were talking about. The GI one started off clear that the person writing the article didn't want to review the game. The PCMag review was better, but it feels like they didn't complete the game before reviewing it and just decided to ding it because the combat feels similar to other entries in the series as the only other criticism was the item and quest structure...hmm.
I rarely ever buy preorders unless I am certain that I am getting something good. I preordered Zelda Breath of the Wild at launch of the Switch, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Fire Emblem 3 Houses, Metroid Dread and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. All 5 turn out to be my most played games on the Switch. This is #6 and I am crazy excited to get my hands on it.
there’s no way that horrendous GameInformer review doesn’t become the new bane of the Xenoblade fandom for this game’s lifespan, just like IGN with Definitive Edition. Shame because I really liked the reviewers over at GameInformer before this
This is crazy the game is doing more than both games and adding more features and it’s still not enough. They even changed the art style from 2 because people complained about it and the gacha part.
@@thesuperjag wow I mean it’s great. I wish I could play the same thing for that long and still have fun. It’s almost like a meditation level of patience and contentment lol
It could be a 9.3-9.5 already if it wasn't for some reviews. I bet some of them haven't even played or finished the XB1 and XB2. Also reviewers should finish the campaign plus at least 75% game before you give your review.
Unless it’s about the story and it’s clarified what percentage of the game is completed I’d disagree with it being a 75% minimum. Especially with a nearly 200/hr 100% playthrough
The dialogue seems alot better than previous years. Characters dont mind saying exactly what's on their minds and seem better developed. I'm only 10 hours in but man, this game has got me.
I got the digital preloaded, was able to get the special edition pre-ordered and just for the hell of it I pre-ordered a standard edition the other day. Ya boy is ready.
Yeah Game informer let some idiots that sorta just plays Apex Legends all day suddenly decide to play Xenoblade Chronicles 3 that then of course gives it a really bad review or someone saying it's no Zelda or Final Fantasy well Zelda had no story in comparison and Final Fantasy 7 where super linear and focused way to much on visual fidelity. So no it's not Zelda or Final Fantasy, it takes the best aspects of both games and do it even better. Some reviewers are freaking idiots.
I already advised my friends in the mmo i play (ff14) that il be less active for the next few weeks in anticipation of this game. Game downloaded and ready once it releases both on my og v1 and my lite. I even skipped watching in game music video features, recent gameplays and other review just to make sure i get the same chills and surprise i had when i first played and listened to xcde, xc2 and torna. I already have a feeling that my 700 hour gametime on xc2 and 450 on xcde will be no match for my gametime for xc3.
I was expecting low to mid 80s, but I'm pleasantly surprised it's notably higher than that on average. I thought it was funny though that IGN said it was the best in the series, yet gave it their lowest score for the series. I get that it's different people reviewing different games, but I feel like a little continuity is in order here.
I love how some reviewers wanna justify the switch's hardware to remove some points off XC3's score. Boy, I can't wait to call them out when Botw2 and Persona 5's port get released.
Honestly I hope XB3 gets GOTY over Elden Ring, ER wasn't bad, but its basically Dark Souls 3 with an open world, nothing really new The last few days of wait physically hurt me god dammit
This completely surpassed my expectations. I have been a fan since Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii though I didn't do a full play through until the downgraded Nintendo 3DS port and I am currently replaying Definitive Edition on Switch which is by far the best. I really WANTED XC2 to be good but just saw so much cringe and heard mixed reviews so it's on my wishlist backlog for a sale 'some' day. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is at the top of my wish list and I have to get a physical copy. I would order from Amazon but my neighborhood has too many package thieves and wrong door mixups for me to feel comfortable ordering anything. I checked Best Buy near me today and it was sold out; they even had a huge display just for the game and there was just 2 copies of Live A Live on there...no copies of Xenoblade left already. I took a picture of the display rack and advertising because I like to document the promotional materials and things like that from Nintendo games. Anyways once I can find a copy in store I'm grabbing it ASAP. This is the perfect spot for a new fan to jump in. For anyone reading this NO you don't have to know anything at all about past games to enjoy and understand this game. Xenoblade 3 is it's own story, own characters, and has it's own systems of gameplay that are new to everyone. If you are on the fence about the game because you never played the previous ones just forget about that and get the game; I'm sure you will be love it if it looks interesting to you at all. Long comment over.
I feel like skipping out on xenoblade 2 just because of the reviews seems pretty iffy to me. I was pretty skeptical at first too but it ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. Most of the cringe mostly just takes place in the first half of the game, mostly in just the second and 4th chapters so it’s not as bad as you think. The bad reviews are most likely from people who never finished the game. Judging the game as not good before playing it just doesn’t seem super right to me
I’m just really sad at the fact that this game looks so incredible and I am yet to play through the first one but I think it’ll be worth it considering the things I’ve heard about this series?
Im new in this channel..i see tons of ppl excited with this game..i never touch any of xenoblade chronicles series and was wondering if i should try this one out
RPG Site also said it was around 140 hours, while a TH-camr that got the game early said the chapters where much longer than 2. So I'm taking a guess and saying the game will probably be around 100 hours.
It is only Divinity 2, Undertale, DQ11 and Bastion that are better rated on Metacritic for Switch RPGS. For me though, Xenoblade 3 will probably be the pinnacle followed by the CRPG Divinity.

I personally find it pretty stupid when people are like “while this game is good, it’s no final fantasy or zelda”, it’s like they don’t think when they say this stuff. Both of those franchises have been around for 30+ years at this point, while this is Xenoblades 4th game not including the remake (also I know they’ve made games in the past, xenogears and saga, but I’m specifically talking xenoblade here), and when they say it it sounds like they disregard it since it’s not mainstream. Lol sorry rant over! I’m so ready for this game. These reviews are amking me even more antsy and I am ready to cry a ton in this game and enjoy every minute of it!!!
It definitely feels like they mashed the best of all prior entries into one masterpiece. Its a complex, crazy story that i struggle to wrap my head around lol but the gameplay feels better than ever, even if the screen gets clustered with everything going on. Id rather the party be smaller, while still maintaining the faster pace that the larger party size brings with it, but thats about it as far as complaints so far.
“Best jrpg on the Nintendo switch”? I really enjoy the xenoblade chronicles series, but if this is going to have to be a really big step up from xbc2 if it’s going to surpass dragon quest 11 definitive edition.
I haven't gotten to play the game yet, but really hope this sells well, and gets some more recognition. I especially hope new people will give the game a try.
XBC3 should definitely be a contender for GOTY if not GOTY. I’m very glad excited for it and glad to hear the great news! Just a little over 2 days left!
I'm about 40 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and most of the character development has been in the form of revealing elements of each character's backstory. I've only encountered one plot twist so far, but there's enough forshadowing to tell that there will be more. The game's first 10 to 20 hours are riddled with tutorials, but they are warranted because there are a lot of complex systems. I'd say the beginning having so many tutorials is better than what they had in previous entries where there were almost no tutorials at all yet almost as complex gameplay. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also allows you to replay important tutorials at any time making the game much more accessible than its predecessors. The tutorials don't feel intrusive on a first playthrough and are genuinely helpful. I just hope you can skip the tutorials on subsequent playthroughs. The soundtrack mostly retreads ground from Xenoblade 1 & 2, in fact, there was a track that directly lifts the melody from a Xenoblade 1 track and it is the only track I have been enamored with so far in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Contrast that with the Xenoblade 1 soundtrack of which nearly every track commanded my attention. Neither Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or 3 had soundtracks that come anywhere near the levels of Xenoblade 1, but it would be wrong to expect them to be since Xenoblade 1 could be argued to have the best soundtracks in all of video games. The soundtrack of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 does its job and does it well, it's just not quite as much to write home about as the soundtrack of Xenoblade 1. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a good game so far and is a natural leap in gameplay for the series, even if it's not as good as Xenoblade 1 in aspects more important to the series like plot, character development, and to a lesser extent music. My opinions may change as I play further into the game, but this is my opinion as it stands now.
@GVS Yes I have heard the soundtrack to Chrono Trigger, and the best parts of that soundtrack go toe to toe with other candidates for best video game soundtrack, and it may very well be the best video game soundtrack of the 90s. However, what Xenoblade Chronicles 1's soundtrack has over that of Chrono Trigger is consistency. Nearly every single track in Xenoblade Chronicles 1 not only suits its in game purpose to a tee, but is perfect for listening to out of game as well and that's not even counting the remastered tracks in the Definitive Edition on Switch. Some soundtracks have a handfull of tracks that are better than anything in any Xeno game, with one such example being Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI, but no other video game soundtrack has the sheer consistent quality of Xemoblade Chronicles 1.
I am so excited for this game but I have so much else on right now I’m going to wait. I have decided to wait for wave 3 of the dlc and I’ll start it then. So happy one of my favourite franchises is getting so much recognition. Monolithsoft are an incredible studio and I can’t wait to see what is next. Also can’t wait to hear those fantastic British accents, one of my favourite aspects of the series.
JRPGS are relatively niche and generally have a negative skew in ratings as some of the publications that review them do not have a reviewer with a background to peer compare JRPGS........ Just saying. Otherwise this would probably be well into the 90s. I think that is why DQ11 did so well as it was an extremely well polished but fairly typical JRPG thus making it easier to peer compare for the generic reviewer.
Even if this game got a 1/10 I'd still be excited to experience it myself lmao. Reviews are just the cherry on top for me, never the deciding factor. Regardless it's still good to see it scoring so well.

@@ericschauer5950 Very true but over the years I have fallen in love with the depth of story square is just not willing to do outside ff14
@@Spartan1312 true I can't remember the last square Enix game I've been truly hyped for
So basically the meh reviews all don't like the gameplay and are comparing it to Final Fantasy and Zelda. Sounds like this game should be at least a 90
also in the 1000+ hour XBC2 club and there's no way i can take any review serious for this franchise unless i see their playtime. i cant take anything less than 100 hours played with any merit!
@@Mac_Omegaly let's be honest make a jrpg tested by someone that can't stomach to play this type of games is something wrong from the get go. one of the 70ish critic was comparing xenoblades to zelda (action rpg) and final fantasy what didn't get a very good episode for long. some of the tester are weird or simply don't give the note the game deserve simply for make the buzz. or simply because they are either not jrpg tester or barely scratch the surface and decide after a couple of dozen hours what the game was worth... sad
A few publications are saying that this is the best Xenoblade game ever made.
After that Direct showcase, I knew something special was brewing. 89 metascore from 64 reviews as of this comment is exactly what this series needed to boost its perception. A very high-quality Japanese RPG on lesser hardware that's pulling its weight against the likes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.
It's funny because imo Xenoblade looks way better than both of those.
Man I wish they would bring xenoblade chronicles x to the switch too with a finished ending cause I always thought it needed something more at the end and more mechs
Pulling its weight? Those series haven't been good in over a decade. They were unseated back with XBC1
@@drowningin you really think DQ11 isn’t good?
@@ThePhil-Osopher its alright, nothing mind blowing kinda bland. Pretty that's about it. Play DQ5 & DQ8 & DQ9 then go back and play 11 and let me know you still find it amazing

This is my favorite JRPG story of all time. The cast is so strong and well developed, the story engrossed me every single step of the way. Incredible.
I can't wait until I finally get this game in my hands! Going overseas in 10 days and definitely will be playing the heck out of this game during any downtime I have. Thanks OJ for all of your work getting this information for us!

Lmao I love the game but GoTY candidate? Bruh. Elden Ring. I know I’m saying this after the fact but I’m not sure how anyone expected any game to beat Elden. Such a masterpiece
Elden Ring is a masterpiece, and is gonna be for another 5 years.
GameInformer is on some other ish with their review.
PC Mag?! Really? That review should be tossed out automatically.
I am glad it turned out good! I wish we had western CRPGs with this amount of love, care and budget as well!
Well you have divinity now and baldur's gate 3 upcoming
Pathfinder series are absolutely that
@@KissesLoveKawaii I am playing Wrath of the Righteous right now and while it's fun, it's not on the level of Xenoblade imo. The production value of the latter is so much higher with the beautiful world and the insane amount of cutscenes etc.
The original KOTOR is probably the closest that I can think of that's been made in the west compared to Xenoblade.
@@wurzelbert84wucher5 That's a very good game my man.
Xenoblade 3 is my favorite game of all time already, and is my personal game of the year, there is no way for me to think that god of war could ever beat this games story in the slightest,
It's insane how amazing game like this always get trashed by most gamers nowadays just because it's Switch exclusive and it doesn't have hyper realistic cinematic graphics like ps or xbox games. The hate bias is real when it comes to Nintendo.
or simply because it's a jrpg, made a comment earlier somewhere and half the comments were people basically calling me an idiot just for being excited for Xeno 3. Crazy.
@@Cyrus_Bright yeah maybe ur right but almost all games on ps or xbox that have hyper realistic cinematic graphics are often to get all the praise even tho the gameplay is mostly trash. It's just the sad reality.
@@Rizky-Gumilar yeah it's an unfortunate reality we live in, thankfully though there are people like us who appreciate these games and don't put hyper realistic graphics on a pedestal.
@@Cyrus_Bright i just hope Nintendo can survive this new gen era of gaming. It's sad that Nintendo is getting destroyed by steam deck ps5 n xbox series in term of tech. Hopefully Nintendo next console can repeat the Switch success
That’s why game informer goin out of business lmao. But I wasn’t expecting 89-90 on meta we as nerds kno the game gunna be good but it koo the casual audience appreciates it for most part.
I still need to get through Live A Live and this is about to drop on my plate.
Me to I am on the middle ages now.
XC3 HYPE!
Hype!!! Also I am very glad the reviews are amazing 😁
Why are we treating xb2 like it trash, like seriously why does everyone hate it now
Performance issues?
It wasn't that hard to predict this game would be good.
I have to wonder why "PCMag" is reviewing the game and giving it a 70.
Might get my early copy tomorrow.
Ok fanboy
An 89 for a JRPG, especially on Switch, is amazingly high.
Not a first. The Switch version of Dragon Quest XI has a 91.
I can't wait!! It's going to be an awesome ride! So glad Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is being received so well!
I am trying to finish up xenoblade 2 to dive into 3
VERY excited for this game, it'll already be a 10 for me
Stop!
there’s no way that horrendous GameInformer review doesn’t become the new bane of the Xenoblade fandom for this game’s lifespan, just like IGN with Definitive Edition. Shame because I really liked the reviewers over at GameInformer before this
then again, IGN apparently spoiled something in THIER review again.
@@Jacob_G9 I saw those comments too but I didn’t catch the spoiler
This is crazy the game is doing more than both games and adding more features and it’s still not enough. They even changed the art style from 2 because people complained about it and the gacha part.
Considering how I played Xenoblade 2 for over 1000 hours according to my switch these reviews make me think it might tripple that time
How do you not get bored 😅 that’s like 10x how long I care bare to play a game before getting bored

It could be a 9.3-9.5 already if it wasn't for some reviews. I bet some of them haven't even played or finished the XB1 and XB2. Also reviewers should finish the campaign plus at least 75% game before you give your review.
well, when its 150+h... i can understand you may not have the time... we are talking multiple full week job hours here.
Unless it’s about the story and it’s clarified what percentage of the game is completed I’d disagree with it being a 75% minimum. Especially with a nearly 200/hr 100% playthrough
Yusss!! I can’t wait to dive into complex combat and yuge vistas. And a story that will definitely bring me to tears a few times 🥹
At least it could snatch the RPG of the year title
When I saw the Nintendo Direct for XC3, my first thought was this will be the greatest game on the switch.
I've been playing it for 3-4 days on and off. So far, it's pretty good. It's a lot to take in when it comes to the combat system, but so far so good.
Are you sure about that

Just wish the characters weren’t so bland. Do you ever get options for costumes that aren’t just generic everyday looking clothes?
Also we will have new story scenarios and costumes in the future.
The dialogue seems alot better than previous years. Characters dont mind saying exactly what's on their minds and seem better developed. I'm only 10 hours in but man, this game has got me.
It may be GotY material, but would be pleasantly surprised if it would be nominated in mainstream game awards, even for the OST
I got the digital preloaded, was able to get the special edition pre-ordered and just for the hell of it I pre-ordered a standard edition the other day. Ya boy is ready.
Good
Yeah Game informer let some idiots that sorta just plays Apex Legends all day suddenly decide to play Xenoblade Chronicles 3 that then of course gives it a really bad review or someone saying it's no Zelda or Final Fantasy well Zelda had no story in comparison and Final Fantasy 7 where super linear and focused way to much on visual fidelity. So no it's not Zelda or Final Fantasy, it takes the best aspects of both games and do it even better.
Some reviewers are freaking idiots.
Just picked up a OLED just for this. It was a must!!!
Same here. Brought the oled for this one and bayonetta 3
Same
I already advised my friends in the mmo i play (ff14) that il be less active for the next few weeks in anticipation of this game.
Can I jump to this one without playing the previous ones ?
Yes you can
I was expecting low to mid 80s, but I'm pleasantly surprised it's notably higher than that on average. I thought it was funny though that IGN said it was the best in the series, yet gave it their lowest score for the series. I get that it's different people reviewing different games, but I feel like a little continuity is in order here.
Note that all the 10’s are the typical nintendo shill publications who give 10’s to pretty much every nintendo exclusive game
I love how some reviewers wanna justify the switch's hardware to remove some points off XC3's score.
Boy, I can't wait to call them out when Botw2 and Persona 5's port get released.
Are they wrong to say the switch is underpowered?
Honestly I hope XB3 gets GOTY over Elden Ring, ER wasn't bad, but its basically Dark Souls 3 with an open world, nothing really new
The last few days of wait physically hurt me god dammit
Judging the game as not good before playing it just doesn’t seem super right to me
Friday can't come soon enough, this looks amazing. I have my copy paid in full.
Nintendo effect they never miss. We need to listen and pay attention better as a community
It’s almost here
Can't wait for the next Switch to get much better performance and nicer graphics. I would like to see more realistic look of games from Nintendo.
Xenoblade is currently the best JRPG series. It reminds me the Square Enix glory of the 90s.
I’m just really sad at the fact that this game looks so incredible and I am yet to play through the first one but I think it’ll be worth it considering the things I’ve heard about this series?
I thought it was gonna be just good, but amazingly great sequel.
Pre-ordered and waiting! Just wish I had time to finish the first and play the second beforehand, but it is what it is.
If you think this is winning game of the year you should definitely pass the blunt this way. I need some of that.
Forget it, nothing can beat Elden Ring this year.
Im new in this channel..i see tons of ppl excited with this game..i never touch any of xenoblade chronicles series and was wondering if i should try this one out
If ur gonna start xenoblade might as well start with xenoblade chronicles definitive edition
Thanks guys..already done pre order with expansion pass included..first time playing xeno..hope it will be good to me
RPG Site also said it was around 140 hours, while a TH-camr that got the game early said the chapters where much longer than 2.
So I'm taking a guess and saying the game will probably be around 100 hours.
It is only Divinity 2, Undertale, DQ11 and Bastion that are better rated on Metacritic for Switch RPGS. For me though, Xenoblade 3 will probably be the pinnacle followed by the CRPG Divinity.
i called it being high 80s low 90s AWESOME!!

The combat is going to be amazing!
I'm curious how we should look at all the leaking. Is it Sony fanboys trying to spoil the game to hurt sales or real fans trying to build hype?
I'd say it's a mix of the two.
Class change in this game is so broken! you can put heal/buffs on all of your 6 characters skill and swap anytime you want 😅 enjoy the game guys!
Actually the Xeno series has existed for a long time
Oh your talking about XenoBLADE specifically
Sadly, it'll probably lose GOTY to Elden Ring, it's lowest score is 96%.
It should definitely win RPG of the year, though.
Have Friday off work. Gonna be loaded up on junk food for the weekend and straight binge the game for 3 days. I am so excited!!!
“Best jrpg on the Nintendo switch”? I really enjoy the xenoblade chronicles series, but if this is going to have to be a really big step up from xbc2 if it’s going to surpass dragon quest 11 definitive edition.
It’s hands down the best game out and my favorite game of all time. Worth all the money even with the DLC
I need to finish the xenosaga games before I get to this one. Looks awesome though, can't wait!
I haven't gotten to play the game yet, but really hope this sells well, and gets some more recognition. I especially hope new people will give the game a try.
Metacritic scores are bullshit its at least a 90 or more
as someone who got the leaked copy on the 24th and downloaded it on the 23rd i can confirm its amazing so far
XenoBlade Chronicles 3 is Winning Best RPG Award and will be Nominated for GOTY and hope it wins that because I’m voting for both
It didn’t though 😂
Now can we get a xenoblade X PORT
XBC3 should definitely be a contender for GOTY if not GOTY. I’m very glad excited for it and glad to hear the great news! Just a little over 2 days left!
Also what did it prove? That a game from a series with no misses was gonna be good? Lol your silly
How does one even play 150 hours and not get burn out ?
Took me 252ish hours to beat XenoBlade 2 , 1st time lol. (That with DLC Wave 3 out, i had ta wait for 1 year to get a Switch).
Enjoyed it.
JRPGS are relatively niche and generally have a negative skew in ratings as some of the publications that review them do not have a reviewer with a background to peer compare JRPGS........ Just saying. Otherwise this would probably be well into the 90s. I think that is why DQ11 did so well as it was an extremely well polished but fairly typical JRPG thus making it easier to peer compare for the generic reviewer.
i dont know what shitty jrps you’ve been playing
cg cutscenes alone make it game of the year the story is just woah.
Even if this game got a 1/10 I'd still be excited to experience it myself lmao. Reviews are just the cherry on top for me, never the deciding factor. Regardless it's still good to see it scoring so well.
