Indeed. I run an ID3 and although it is a good car, it doesn't stand out in its sector. VW always had the knack of making their Transporters/Kombis comfortable. I sense from Bjorn that VW have done it again. I've also seen one up close at the FC Live, and I can't wait to see a Camper.

I would definitely prefer this with 18” wheels. I’m so tired of everyone constantly adding to big rims causing noise levels and vibrations in the car to go up.

I love the idea of this van, I simply cannot afford it, and it’s not ever an aspirational “in a few years I’ll be able to afford one of those” type of thing.
One lease I saw was an eye watering £600pm with £7.5k initial rental. Nearly £30k over three years. Oh how I miss when manufacturers seemed to have no control over the demand, and the market was so flooded with stock, that lease deals were a feckin’ steal.

Its sad they cheaped out on the interior flexibility. The original prototype was perfect in regards to configurability with seats, central console all mounted on sliding rail. Even a slide-in table was available. That would have been the perfect van.

Maybe some day if it proves popular in the US, it can be manufactured here locally and then the cargo version is also an option too.

I really appreciate your approach to the ID Buzz and your quite thorough tests and reviews. I watch everything regarding the Buzz, as we ordered one in late May.
At the time being our order has yet to receive a confirmed production date. However, it has been pushed back from week 45 to 51...(!) because of the two-tone paint. Ours will be White over Bay Leaf Green with white and Jade Style interior. We are really anxious to get it! (We have test-driven one, and we absolutely loved it. Or I did, at least. My wife thinks it's a bit big :P. Size isn't everything, I guess :P)
Coming from a '18 Hyundai Ioniq, which was a fantastic car, but lacked range and space. Throw in a dying Mazda 5 MPV, the ID Buzz was the perfect blend of both those cars.
And I happen to love the design. Both retro and futuristic at the same time. Brilliant :D

The ID Buzz is an awesome car but these 3 things keeps me away from ordering one. 1st Air vents on the 2nd row seats, 2nd Physical buttons on the steering wheel instead of touch-sensitive buttons which provide haptic feedback and 3rd heat pump instead of PTC heater for better energy consumption especially during cold winter season. Software? It improves overtime through OTA updates, so its fine. If VW will come up with ID Buzz version 2 with all of these corrected then I would probably without a doubt order one. Thank you Bjørn for an awesome review as always :-)

There are already rumors that VW will return to physical buttons on the steering wheel with the facelift of the ID.3 in 2023. If that is the case, then I expect them to change all the other MEB models as well, because it is more cost effective to use the same parts for all of them.

Clearly the Buzz is a very good car/van .. I think it's very beautiful styling prettier than any other VW bus ever made, is great especially if you have a lot of banana boxes to carry around 😂.. but how is the software its still laggy yes.. which was always the problem, but this seems it's only drawback apart from price ..then as you say not any car is perfect yet. Unfortunately the bus is here in the UK.. lease today is £550/month factory order .. model Y £435 ex-stock ..Ioniq5 £430. Id4 only £336 low spec only 109kW/52kWh
which would you buy ? Model y for me every time I don't have so many 🍌 boxes .. yet clearly the buzz is the best thing on the market at the mo the most refined van-shaped car thingy.

Björn - I know you are a city slicker but please add ground clearance and bumpy gravel road test to your videos!
In a fossil car you might need to change oil pan etc if you misjudge ground clearance but in an electro auto it is a very costly mistake since the battery is the lowest point.
A BEV is also heavier so how it reacts to a bumpy gravel road would be interesting to see.

8 year old Model S RWD inland Australia: Very good traction, no probs on dirt roads (air suspension) and it skids over obstacles just leaving some scratches on the very thick battery plate. I always get surprised looks of 4WD owners when arriving at remote locations 😆. 22kW AC charging at any small country town. Done 340000km by now still first battery (12.3% degradation only). Love it, best car I ever had.

Bev has LESS problem with clearance, even if you hit something theres less to contact due to less parts, and while the battery is low theres always shielding to prevent any kind of punctures from hitting a pothole or driving on washboard.
You're right about overall weight and suspension, but I wouldn't worry about the difference in cost for driving mistakes between ice/ev.

Toyota ProAce comes in 5-seater version indeed, but it uses the same eCMP platform of every damn model Stellantis does. 136CV and 50kWh for a city car may be good, but not if you put the same platform on a van. I was looking at the eRifter for example, way cheaper than the Buzz and totally useful for my needs, but with that front shape and that tiny battery, range will be horrible. MEB modularity is a winner here.
I will be happy anyway to see a full test of the eRifter, to compare it to this one.

you shouldn't drive in that lane, that's not a buss, that's a buzz!

This is sad. I actually like the feel of a van with the steering wheel angle. It’s part of the experience and relaxing.

      Is because of airbag.

@@moestrei Might bei a more ideal angle but vans have functioning airbags too.

The design and style looks outdated.it should not be like this in EV time.

It's a shame they don't have a longer wheelbase, seems smaller than the original.

There will be a longer wheel based offered, with more towing capacity. I am guessing it will be available with three row seating, too. I also believe it will be the standard Buzz for the US market

VW as a company completely missed the minivan craze. They had the first minivan and did not advance the awful VWBus to anything appealing. Again this is not appealing. It is cute like the MIni but there are so many better designed and useful minivans. Sorry VW again you missed the boat.
