    How do you do a 76 demo and keep it on the slowest release (it's not reversed like the original and other clones) the ENTIRE time?!

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Between the 264 and youtube encoding there will be loss in the sound quality of the audio. So we often have to focus on using gear in their extreme settings so what they are doing can come across better.

    • @kytul
      @kytul ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@FrontEndAudio That I know and understand. But moving it to the fastest release could be an extreme as well.

    You gave us a good idea of how this unit sounds with the slowest release - you kept it there (on 7) the whole time. It seems like Lindell got it backwards: 1 is the fastest; 7 is the slowest.

      @Tallstreehouse 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Other way around, unless this unit is the opposite of all other 1176 style compressors. The meter does look slow tho you might be right? Idk.

    Good examples, sounds good to me to be honest. I'd still like to see someone do a comparison of it and the klark and possibly a plugin too.

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We don't sell Klark, so unfortunately could not assist there. Generally we don't do comparisons for "the can or worms it could open". Though we do do those comparisons in our studio, so we can help with questions via email or phone (at least in regards to the various hardware and plug-ins in this style we do carry).

    • @Espresso101
      @Espresso101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FrontEndAudio that makes sense. I understand. I think the only thing that left me still wanting was the vocals. 1176 tends to make things sound more aggressive so it works great on rock vocals.

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Espresso101 Let us know if you have any preferred settings. I am sure we could do a quick and dirty video of this on an extended vocal clip with some of the more common settings folks use. Just might take a few days, as we are currently working on other videos at the moment.

    • @Espresso101
      @Espresso101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FrontEndAudio the famous Dr Pepper settings would be a good start. Maybe even have fun and try some presets off notable plugins. Could cascade it into a budget LA2A clone. Would also be very helpful to constantly hear the unit bypassed and level matched often and to hear it in a rough mix if possible. The bypass for me is more important so I can directly hear what the unit is doing.

    The release seems a bit slow. I really notice it on the louder passages on the vocal, and on the snare. There's an uncharacteristically choked dynamic thing happening.

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overall the Lin76 is a slower compressor. Being that it is an 1176 style compressor and not a direct clone, it has it's own characteristics.

    • @jamescassidy4045
      @jamescassidy4045 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yea. Totally! It's also because they had the release set close to slowest. It's backwards from the OG on these one's.

    • @ParadNorthProd
      @ParadNorthProd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Knobs are backwards from an original 1176. I'm guessing tester didn't notice that. (Who uses the slowest release on an 1176)

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ParadNorthProd Yes, the Lin76 is simply an 1176 style compressor and not a clone, so it differs in many was to the 1176. There are many reasons to use a slow release on any compressor. I for one personally use my UA 1176LNs for balancing guitars and use a little touch compression with a slow release so that the guitars stay even.

    Like it on vocal. It is a pity though there is no HP side-chain and mix knobs. I know it is following classics but dear Lindell we have 2022 and such extensions won't raise cost too much

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those additional features could be really cool. Those features are available on the Serpent Audio Splice, and they make that 1176 style comp very versatile. But the Lin76 is cool and unique in it's own way!

    Just a question but this unit uses 12V rather than 24V, wouldn’t that entail less headroom and less powerful unit?

    • @FrontEndAudio
      @FrontEndAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Generally speaking, yes. The higher the running voltage, the higher the headroom. Of course you will at some point get into the realm of diminishing returns when all you are processing is line level and there is little to no amplification - but you are correct about the headroom and voltage. However, we did not experience any performance issues with the unit that would be related to it's headroom.

      Es comparable a los Klark Techniks, y podría decirse que es un mejor compresor, pero también es diferente. Tiene un carácter general diferente. El Klark está tratando de clonar el 1176 de una manera muy asequible, pero carece de profundidad y ambiente. El Lin76 tiene un sonido único propio mientras se inspira en el 1176. Espero que eso ayude. Usando Bing Translate, lo siento si hay algo extraño en la respuesta.

    Thanks for the demo, but it's too polite! Need to crush things if you're going to demo an 1176, and the Lindell crushes quite well. Any compressor sounds good with a slow release like in this video, but crushing is where the hardware shines above the plugins.
