    I do like how the warm audio sounds when you really push it, especially on vocals, I can really hear the unit working very pleasantly. Also, warm audio did try to fix this issue with lower level signals by adding a ‘pre-emphasis’ knob which is there on all the newer models

    That LA2A is golden. Too bad I can't afford to get it....more important things to attend to. I have the LIN76 and it sounds so good that I'm sure getting. another one. The LIN2A sound great as well and I'll eventually get it. Lindell Audio, you have a new customer. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks for doing this. I'm impressed with the Lin2A, but this video really showed me how the UA version really shines. I have a Klark Teknik. I love their KT76, but the attack and release are a little too slow for me with the KT2A. The Warm Audio also seems to have a slower attack and release possibly even slower than the Klark which is why it didn't sound very compressed on the drums. When the drums were being pushed really hard through both the UA and Lin2a, there was some low end distortion from the Lin2A that I didn't love that doesn't exist with the UA. But besides that, it seems to be the closest cheaper option of an LA2A out of the three clones.

    good comparison. noticed that all except the Lindell have the pre-emphasis capability, although this appears to be an older rev of the WA-2A since I don't see those controls on the front of this review unit.

    The lindel sounds just a bit brighter than the ua.. the klark sounded like it lost the transients when smashed and lost life.. and the warm seems to have a seriously slow attack.. especially on drums.. was a great demo thank you.

    The Warm Audio is a waste of money. I agree with you about it not compressing as much as the meter shows. Also the release on the Warm just seemed really lethargic. The Teletronics was by far the best, and the Lindell for sure is second best. The KT is super cheap and feel like it cheapens the sound. The same with the Warm . LA2a is King for a reason.

    I already own most of the boxes UA made LA2, LA3 and LA4, I have the Klark, But I bought the Lindell because they are the only company to shootout their opto and Fet comps against the competition the Lin2A is great. The only annoyance I have is the reverse dials on the lin76 if I'm in a rush tracking I end up setting it wrong so now I have a huge post it note on the Lin76 that reminds me they are reversed from the normal 1176 compressors.

    The LIN76 comparison video made me choose to buy the LIN76 which I really do love. My only gripe is how I Have to constantly re-adjust the VU meter especially when doing all buttons mode! Other than that… the LIN76 is an amazing budget option! I’m really o. The fence with the Lin 2A because of the VU METER issues that I have with the 76

    • @officiallindellaudio5879
      @officiallindellaudio5879  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there, the change in metering is common on '76-style compressors when using all-buttons mode. The original design was never designed to actually be used with all buttons in. It takes some time for the meter to discharge when you do. We also thought it was an issue with our design at first, until we were testing it against other 1176s - both vintage and new - and almost all have that same metering artifact caused by all-buttons mode.

      @@geoffreymerrifield5666 fuck all that I sold em all and just stuck to uad plugins instead. I have to agree the klarks and anything cheap is going to suck you need expensive gear. Me personally I use gear to dial in a polished ready sound I don't like spending hours on mixing audio. Others want the gear to sing better? which idk how that works haha XD but I use it for fidelity and sonic quality not for better lyrics or better singing abilities and performance. I think theres a lot of confusion when it comes to gear and being able to do certain things. I'm working on getting a manley i was going to get a u87 but after a while of research it seems like its just an accuracy tool and not really anything that enhances your sound source. I actually tried the u87 and did not like it i tried it in a proper studio setting where i paid by the hour but i still did not like it. if i have to reccomend something it would be to first treat your room then get a top tier mic and a top tier preamp no cheap clones or replicas and get it on a payment plan if you cannot afford it outright because its the only way you will get a pro sound without having to spend money to send it out to an audio engineer to mix and master it.

    From all these samples, I am pretty confident in saying
    UA > Warm > Lindell > Klark Teknik
    Warm sounds a bit better than UA in some aspect, but not overall.
    UA is still better than all, but Warm is not just closest, but unique in sound and richness. This is something good and magical happening in 100-200 hz with Warm Audio 76 clone.
    UA sounds very consistent, but less warm, it's like Warm has some "love" added to the mix.
    It's not the same units, and they sound unique.
    Klark sounds the worst, like you are reducing bitrate of audio, and most plastic in sound, losing details.
    Lindell is not bad, but it's not on Warm level imo. Based on these samples.
    Warm is also substantially more expensive, which is honestly justifiable, but UA is overpriced for what it is.
    Warm is easily a budget winner and sound is great, if you got money to spend.
    Klark tried to emulate, but I don't think they got even close.

    • @nicefish10
      @nicefish10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you’re completely wrong about the warm sounding good on anything. I’m listening to this on my Studios Genelec 8050a monitors and the Warm and the KT are both super cheap sounding to me. If you can’t afford the real one by an audio scape or Lindel. I wouldn’t waste money on the KT or the Warm. Like most people that purchase those products after a couple of months they’re looking to sell them because they seriously don’t cut the mustard. I really think you’re better off with a plug-in that either one of those. I really think what you are classifying as warm sounding from the warm audio is what I’m classifying as cheap. The warm audio device is taking well recorded stuff and making it sound cheap to me. So is the KT. Saving money is important for sure but if you buy cheap, you’ll always have cheap. And for someone in a home studio that’s probably fine. But from people that are serious pros, there is no substitute for having an LA2a original.

  • @johanbejerholm

    There is no doubt whatsoever that the Lindell comes the closest. By far. I still have to give the edge to the UA one, though. It is smoother. Lindell is a little dirtier. That may be a good thing, though, for some uses and music styles. Tobbe Lindell himself likes to rock hard, so that figures. :D The attack is quite similar on the Lindell, but the release is just more like I would want it to be on the UA. So, if the price was the same, I would pick the UA. But it is more that 5 times the money, so if you are not really rich, it would be foolish to get the UA.

  • @bugattiveyron620

    • @johanbejerholm
      @johanbejerholm ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you will find that KT and Warm have just as much problems. I guess you have to expect more quality issues when you pay down to 1/10th of the price, right. You just can't get it all. It would be foolish to expect it. And likewise, at 5k for a mono compressor, you should expect the UA one to be flawless for maaaany years to come.

    I prefer the warm audio no matter how much you trying to persuade that. The lindell sounds better or more smashed, whatever that means. There's more of a bigger bottom end coming out of the warm audio and it's still compressing everything else above those lower frequencies, which is what I would prefer on parallel compression.

    For your drum demo:
    The Warm Audio release is too slow in this test to compare.
    Lindell is really nice and would be an ok substitute.
    The KT is just awful. Sucking and blowing and not the good way. A non-competitor in my opinion.
    For your bass demo:
    The Warm Audio, exact same comment.
    Lindell, best but more obviously than with drums, not releasing quite enough to sound like ‘action’.
    Guitar:
    I would not use any of these on dirty guitar.
    Vocals:
    Only the 2A really was doing great things.
    For your $ question, yes the real 2A is worth it in my opinion. It is superb in every single test. Of course there’s a bit of confirmation bias, but the ‘action’ is exactly right to me. Its program dependency is just brilliant.
    Hate to be repetitive but the KT is absolutely worthless to me.
    Thanks for the great demo.
