  • The fam headed down to the Snake River for some camping and fishing. The crappie fishing is tough so we have to put our boots on the ground and locate them this season.

    I kept waiting to hear about the serpent we saw at 9.30? ohhhh, I just soooo do NOT like them ... not after meeting a 9-foot rainbow boa in Panama when I was in the Army. Really enjoying your vids, keep up the great work!
    btw... those bluegill and punkinseed are every bit as tasty as the crappies. light batter fry and lemon juice... oh man!

    Samong, I fish for crappies all over the NW (WA, OR and ID). Washington: Little Goose Lock and Dam on the Snake River is very productive for crappies and catfish. Oregon: near Huntington, OR on the Snake River at Spring Recreation Site and Farewell State Park are very productive for crappies and catfish. Idaho: the best crappie fishing is C.J. Stike Dam area. The famous spot is Cottonwood Park and campground near Bruneau, ID. In May, night fishing is the best. You can catch crappies over 16 inches here. Bass and wild trout fishing are also very productive at CJ Strike Dam.

    Have you tried using a bobber with your same jigs? My recommendation would be to slow the retrieve with a bobber about 1-2 feet deep during the spawn.

    • @Makete100
      @Makete100 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree on the bobber (float). We will vary the depth till we find where they like to be. Night fishing for crappies can be amazing. Most times you will find them amonge the structure whether brush, rocks or weeds. We have found slabbers as deep as 20 feet.

    • @SamongOutdoors
      @SamongOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did try using a bobber on this particular trip, but the crappie seemed to prefer the curly tail action on this particular trip.

    Super awesome video! I have a lot of success on Cubby Mini-Mites. Check them out sometime, my favorite go to for crappies is the pink with white grub! With the jig in the water I just bounce my rod tip so it gives it that good grub squirm.

    How close were you to the (actual) snake in that shot? Rattlesnake?

    • @SamongOutdoors
      @SamongOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was about 6 yards from the rattlesnake when I filmed it. It was hanging out on the side of the road and as we approached it unnoticed, it slithered into that bush.

    Crappie is one of my favorite fresh water fish to eat. They are so good. One of these days I will make it over to the Snake River. My buddy goes with his family once a year to do some Cat fishing. He has shown me some amazing pics of their catch. Maybe this summer I will make the effort. If COVID doesn’t mess it up. Another amazing video. Enjoyed!!!!

    Bro love these videos but you said without further ado five times before your first cast
    You're pretty agile I was initially like oh knows he's going to dump but that was surprisingly seamless
    How would you rate the taste of these fish my guy ? Striped bass, walleye, crappie, smallmouth largemouth bluegill trout catfish sturgeon
    I'm genuinely curious I'm not a fan of largemouth bass I'll say that I've never tried smallmouth and I'm open They day it tastes way better but I'm cynical trout is good sometimes even tho not very versatile It's basically butter and lemon
