I started messing w the Pi w your channel during Covid. I ended up building two arcade cabinets from scratch. I just started tinkering w Batocera, it’s so much easy and user friendly IMO. Thank you pi so much for all the input, videos and seeing how simple it really is! Love the channel and content good sir, Hope the family is well 😊
hey, what is the pro and con of batocera vs retropie? I heard that you only can install retropie with manual installation and that part scares me cause im not into raspberry pi language writing.
Wolfanoz makes some of the best images you can get. Really puts some love into it, and he addresses all of the concerns that the Chinese have failed us with when it comes to refining a build.
Getting the chinese console with lot of game that were hit and miss is not a thing anymore. But when Raspberry Pi series is there like number 5, that helps alot with either your game you put or use the image for more game. That's what it makes me interested with Raspberry Pi.
nothing special here. Just check gpu prices then and now…. It is not a raspberry issue but a generic one. All micro electronic stuff cost a fortune. Before the “chip shortage” scam a decent video card like a 1070-1080 was around 300-400usd now for similar level we have to pay 1000+ bucks. They revealed that people will pay almost any price for their crappy gpus and after that every single component just followed the same pricing.
My Pi5 8gig was a Christmas gift, added on the nvme expansion card and it has been simply awesome for emulation. Snappy, performs well, the pwm connector for the fan is awesome, and the integrated power switch! It does require some tweaking but overall it met my expectations. Nice video man!
The very first video I saw on your channel was a review of an old Wolfanoz build. This is fun and nostalgic. Also impressive to see what the Pi 5 can do.
Love these Pi builds! Good stuff man. I also love watching you get frustrated with Soulja Boy'd-up BooBoo. Your content is just awesome, dood. I've learned a lot about retro gaming hardware from you. Thanks for the laughs
The Pi5 really refreshes the Pi line. It's great for people just getting started. :) Thought most minis pc's have met and exceeded the Pi Company though.
Been loving the Pi5. . It's cheap, and powerful enough to run so many systems without many issues. Purchased a few more to make some pre-builds for some friends and family. I wonder if the next generation of pi will be an even bigger leap
Great video dude. I grabbed a Pi5 and the same image. Very, very happy and it’s what we all dreamed of like 6 years ago. Excited me enough to start making a theme for this image. Keep up your great work mate. Signing off, the ma* the myt* the mother fu**in legen* lol
Most likely gonna pick one up and try it..You were actually who showed me how to get KI working on my Emulation station build... If Saturn is working I'm all in but, I got a suggestion... For the 64, I've always had a time getting Resident Evil 2 working... Be great to see it running on this. #Madlittlepixel
Yeah, I miss the Pi ecosystem back in the day, so it's good to see the old Pixel content. Don't forget the PS2 which can run on the Pi 5, but I don't think the Batocera builds include the PCSX2 emulator in their Pi revisions (RetroPie lets you install it when you're running Raspberry Pi OS).
A finally big daddy Raspberry Pi to cover because it can play Saturn game. Maybe the Raspberry Pi 5 for cheaper might be the best pick if i couldn't get the Mini PC, but i was surprise the Saturn game is playable at full speed which is awesome! With Raspberry Pi 5 there, that can be pair as a game collection with PS1 as just no matter which game's version you play such as Mega Man 8 for example.
Thanks for the love man (and everyone)😊. I would post the link to Back-Ups Discord here but it removes my comment when it does to request an account. Pixel can possibly post the link here on this video.
Appreciate it, fun build for sure. If you DM me anywhere or email me at madlittlepixel@gmail.com I will post your invite link.. I was never given invite permission so I cant make a link myself lol

I heard that you only can install retropie with manual installation and that part scares me cause im not into raspberry pi language writing.
@@Madlittlepixelyou need to give Tempest 2000 a bit more respect man. It’s a great game whatever system it is played on. Still have the original on PS1.
I like these videos man, thanks for showing us these Is it just me, or are some mid tier Chinese handhelds pulling these specs? I guess what I’m trying to say here is, this pi5 doesn’t seem like a big jump up from the pi4. And like you say, this wasn’t overclocked, but I was expecting maybe some ps2 on this board
PS2 and the framerates are bad in comparison with the Wii. The hardware simply can’t handle it yet or i would have tested and included it. Some to most Wii games run (in particular 2D vs heavy 3D games) but the hardware has a ways to go iteration-wise before it can handle those higher end platforms.
Pandemic ruined the RPi5 price wise and time to market. The value proposition isn't there anymore in a crowded market. The fact they are about to float the company tells you there are some negative times ahead.

I am waiting for the DeskPi Lite for the Pi 5 before i would buy it because i have the DeskPi Lite for the Pi 4 and it is amazing with the ability of using normal HDMI cables instead.
I'm honestly looking to get a Pi to emulate CPS-3 for Third Strike on a CRT. Everyone suggests using FinalBurnNeo, but I haven't looked into how to get that emulator on a Pi system, or if it's something that's being used on things like RetroArch or something. I'm honestly new to RetroPie and Raspberry Pi systems. I don't know if I should get a 4b or this. In order to output to a composite CRT, the Pi needs the audio jack. Any recommendations or tips? Thanks.
👍 If you do make a build, add all your favourites into the favourites section with the correct adjustments, (multipliers, graphics, vulkan, etc etc..) as this is the one thing I have trouble with. Some games require optimising, and I’d love to just play without having to configure first. I know it’s be tedious to do it for every single game lol, which is why maybe the favourites section with 20 odd games, (psp n64, Saturn, arcade, stuff that makes the pi5 sweat a bit😅) Is there a site which has tested configs I can check out? 👋
You dont, but when I bought the pi 5 all that was available was the 8gb so thats what I got. And if I had the choice id still take the 8 over the 4, while emulation for most things is going to be more dependent on cpu and not so much ram, it can still be beneficial for some higher end stuff.
Is it good to play most of GameCube w/o overclocking the device? Im just waiting for a small hardware that can reach PSP, PS2 and GameCube without any issues.
They should made it with more powerful hardware. it's not really meant for this stuff anyways. You can put it on it i guess. Still got the pi 3b. Does the job. I think final burn alpha runs good on it. Some hit or miss emulators on there. mostly need more power. Most cases it runs good. This is cool. You can probably do all this with a laptop. HDMI out hardware and your set and you can bring it with you with a screen. Pi is very inexpensive.
I wonder if the raspberry pi 5 will by chance run raspberry 4 images and also give even better performance? It would be great to see a comparison video also! My favorite images are always from DariahZone, as great as some of the other regular image builders images are.
Pi's are obsolete. Face it. If you are after a cheap ass low power server, get those Fujitsu headless clients that flood Ebay. They use less energy, have a decent gigabit ethernet, decent SATA/M2 storage optiosn, built in PSU and like 8GB/128GB SSD built in for like 60€. With the 14nm processor they use less than a Pi5. If you are after easy-peasy retrogaming, get a 25€ 2009 MacMini with OpenEmu. Thing is I have never come across a proper emulation software setup on any system, RetroPie, RetroArch, Hyperspin, they all suck anywhere between 40 and 60%. Open Emu sucks for 60% as well, but the install on a Mac is super simple, and with a Core2Duo you are sure that N64 plays horrible. The console you don't want anyway, so if you know that up front, that is good. And acknowledge that retro-gaming software is 99,99% aimed at SNES type of USB controllers. If you want anything else, or even worse, want REAL Arcade parts, prepare for setup-hell.

Hello MLP on the pi5, in your video, is the pi5 overclocked to get full speed on arcade killer instinct 1 and 2?
What wild to me is that the 3b is still over $50 for the board alone; on eBay.
This is what brought me to your channel years ago when you first started making videos.
Luv it

Love the Pi 5, but the generation after generation price creep is annoying. At $35 the pi 3 b+ was the best value in retro gaming. Miss those days.
Yeah not for everyone but then again, the cost of groceries alone is insane.
It's because the government is broke and can't afford to do what it does. So they have to monetize debt that we all pay for through inflation.

Looks like the emulation runs pretty smooth on that
I'm honestly conflicted on the Pi 5. Mainly because I'd be using it for emulation and it's high enough in price to put it into mini PC range.
What do you want ? A skanky old pc or a shiny new and quiet pi 5
If you can find a mini pc for the same price as a pi, it's either second hand or low spec.
Great review, love my pi 3 and 4 , definitely want a 5
Is finding a build pretty easy?
I love gaming but iam old heading on 60 I don't have a clue about computers. I play my Atari and wii every day. Are these plug and plays good?
The Pi isn't plug and play, you have to configure the SD card.
