NOBODY UNDERSTANDS!

  • Hello my sweet and wonderful friends! :) In this video I talk about some tips of what to do when people don't understand what you are going through or dealing with. You can't make everyone understand because some are more sensitive to suffering than others, but you may be able to help some budge. I am VERY thankful that I have so many supportive people around me in my life. Sometimes, it takes time. Not everyone will understand your journey, but it's wonderful when they at least support you no matter what, sticking by your side and being there when you need a hug, a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. Be patient with those around you as it's not easy for those who love you to watch you go through such difficult things.
If you don't have the support at home, please know that I understand and many others in the online community. You are never alone in the obstacles of life. *HUGS!! :)

Not being understood is another symptom of invisible illness. This becomes one more burden to carry. Knowing that so many who suffer with chronic pain and illness share this in common is encouraging. I came to understand that God is in this with us. He is walking beside us and carrying us too. Learning that we can 'offer up' suffering and that it has value has been the most important lesson for me. Not easy to explain but it sure helps. SUBSCRIBED

Hi Sweetie, I deal with this issue all the time. Unfortunately, even those closest to me don't truly understand. It's my experience that they don't understand until something happens to their health or they experience a similar thing in their lives. I am so grateful for channels like yours Sweetie. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, hugs :)

I'm 16 and living with IBD. So many of my "friends" don't even attempt to understand that I can't do all of the "normal" teenage stuff. If nothing else, being sick definitely separates your real friends from others. God Bless!

    Hi Kelly,
I think having empathy for another person is of utmost importance. When I had my hysterectomy, I'd already been with my employer for about two years (I'm coming up on my 17th anniversary with them). I needed to accrue the sick time and the benefits, so I work thru my pain. I remember having to leave early when I wasn't feeling well, having to take off for doctor's appointments, etc. I kept a lot of this hidden. A lot of my colleagues were grumbling about having to take Susan's work.
So again, I learned to have empathy for others. I believe that while you can't always understand what a person is going thru, you can understand *that* the person is going thru it.

I agree with this as well. :) It's important that we all understand that everyone is going through something.

Hi, Kelly. Indeed, there are some people, where I wish we switched places for a day. Then, maybe, they might understand that I really am sick and need support rather than criticism. :( Take care.

what if you find them negatively overbearing in the doctors office trying to talk for you about things that maybe an issue but not what u feel needs attention compared to other things OR do not back you up if you have particular "theory" about why the outcome of a surgery or procedure in the doctor office (which usually makes the doctor listen only to them not me) OR tries to make me not talk fully to my need to portray an issue or theory etc to the doctor by giving me a look to say "stop talking" "your blabbering about nothingness etc
