Dear "SELF RELIANCE", I cannot believe you built this beautiful, cozy, warm, honey and CLEAN (!) home all by yourself if I hadn't seen most of it for myself. I am in love with your home!!! It does remind me of a summer cabin my grandparents had when I was very young, age 3 and up. I am now over 70 but I can picture that cabin like I am standing in it with my eyes closed right now, I can smell the wood, I can smell the blueberry pancakes on the griddle of their beautiful cast iron stove . That's what made me cry when I saw you making the same thing on today's video. The memories just came flooding in, so thank you for that and allowing me to ramble on. I also have fallen in love with your puppy. He/she is gorgeous and so well behaved too! I wish I could get mine to not destroy every single toy I have ever bought her!!! I'd definitely like to have all the money back I spent on those, there is only one brand I get balls and dumb bells from, it's a brand called "KONG" and they have a hole down the center to fill with peanut butter, which she loves . I was wondering about your puppie's toy, I think it's orange or red and you throw it for him to go get. Is it something that he can't distroy ?! Or is your dog really that well behaved??? Anyway I subscribed tonight so will pop in once in a while and say hi. Keep up that great work you do, and what's next on your "TO DO" list ??? Have a great weekend. 😍

Shawn, your home is really coming together and I love your vision of the build. From the first log to where you are now is fantastic and my hats off to you for sure. Thanks for bringing us along with your build.
Hi Shawn, it's amazing how busy that you always are, and still put out so many videos. I've enjoyed both of your channels since the old property. Most things happen for a reason, and I think the new place is so much better, Thank you for sharing all the great things that you do. I look forward to the bedroom addition, and all the other things that you do. Take care.

Well done, a lot of hard work but what a result. You seem to effortlessly put things together but I know it happens with meticulous precision. Amazing difference in just a few weeks, really homely now. Take care, be safe. ❤ Dorset, UK
It's interesting to see you working outside in a teeshirt now, Shawn now that the calendar says that it's officially spring. A good omen for future progress at the homestead. I guess that the smoky fire is a sign that mozzies are appearing now, and watching stairs being constructed is always a satisfying thing. It must have given you a feeling of closure to take the ladder outside too. You sure had my juices flowing watching you make blueberry pancakes with thick bacon. You gave me a slightly anxious moment watching you wrestle with the ice-box over the root cellar opening. Happy to see your safety measures installed with the stairs, Shawn.
I'll get back to work on my cabin soon but it's a much smaller project than yours. I feel lucky to be retired and single now. Don't think my wife would have wanted to live off grid like I do. Good luck, Shawn hope all goes well, Mike
You make living off grid in a cabin looks soooo appealing, all the comforts of home in a forest settings and a bit more like nature and the wilderness all around you. No more hurried city life, no crime, groceries just around the backyard, silence is golden. Keep enjoying life as nature intended. I guess talking to yourself is therapeutic.
You sir, are a master craftsman!!! Love watching as your hard work transforms raw materials into a beautiful home!! I've been watching since you laid down the base layer of half logs on your first cabin and can't wait for new video posts each week. Keep up the great work and thanks for allowing to watch as you progress. Be safe.
Good stuff as usual! Enjoy the build out of each unique part of the cabin. So detailed. Your imagination comes out in everything you do. Of course, your dedication to learning / reading is an important part of that process. Love the life. First time I watched was way back in the beginning of the first build. I too was enamored with Dick Proennke's film 🎥, taken on a good ol' fashioned camera. He's watching you, admiring every step you take, just like we admired his. 😊

I love watching the "little projects" add to the hard labor of the major build. The warm glow of the light in the fireplace room is so relaxing to behold. The cellar was a great decision you made. Spring is in the air. Can't wait to watch the outside kitchen build.
I started binge watching your videos about 2 weeks ago and can't stop watching them. Then I also subscribed to your daughter's page. I can only imagine the satisfaction you feel. Just watched the newest one with the cellar stairs and now the pan fry. Awesome
The cabin looks so cozy now & well thought out, love the book shelves by the fire that form the wall for the bathroom. What an sense of achievement you must feel, from the tree filled plot to an amazing home!!! Fantastic work Shawn, love watching each week.

Every Friday I watch your videos and enjoy what you make there and the life you have there. I admire you for how you do it all and what you make with your hands, real craftsmanship. God bless and greetings from the Netherlands
Молодец! Крутой парень! Все у вас супер!!! Здоровья вам!!!
Cali on her chair beside her guy - looks like heaven from my perspective and the cabin - well that’s just spectacular. What a team!🥰🥰
By far the best, most complete log cabin build I've seen yet on TH-cam. Well done!
This is just unbelievable!!! No one tops you in inspiration, originality, especially in work ethic!! You are driven and my hat's off to you sir!!
I love the home, but also I love that we get to see the adorable old golden retriever. she's such a sweetheart. that house is fabulous. I love watching the build. it's so beautifully made, the solidness is gorgeous on the eye too.
Shawn, You must be getting energized more more with the upcoming vision of what you've got planned for this property. The cabin is truly starting to look like a home. Cali must be everything to you Shawn. She's so obedient, she shows her devotion to you on every episode. No wonder you care for her as father cares for his one and only daughter..
My sense is that this project has taken its toll on both man and dog.
@@graciemaca6996 glad I'm not alone.
I've had Goldens..Cali is tired. Maybe it's hard winter, but when I watch her climb into the chair ( which is far too small Shawn ...I kinda wince.
I think Goldens are so loyal that they will hide any discomfort to please. My thoughts....come down off the mountain and give Cali a hip score and a spine scan....Hell, you can afford it Shawn.
If nothing else, the 8700 calories per day is energy enough
He's got two human daughters as well.
@@davidf4897 👍👍👍👍👍
So sorry for your loss! Bruce was a beautiful, smart, and good dog. Praying for comfort and peace for you and the family.
Very good use of that space over the stairs...well done!
Quite the showcase cabin you've built...
Thanks for sharing your time n talents with us on this project!!
C ya on the trail, for a new vid!!!!
👍🧙♂️🐺!!!!
A man's home is his castle what a beautiful castle it is.Miss Cali is showing her age thank you for sharing, you have a blessed day and stay well 😊
I never cease to be amazed at your talent and craftsmanship, the cabin looks great!
I’m certain I’m not alone when I say I love your “pup”. She is the sweetest four-legged I’ve ever seen. Such an amazing companion…🥰♥️
Nice job on the stairs, very impressive. Continuing to char the wood looks nice. Keep safe Shawn
I'm from Poland and I would like to build my dugout but unfortunately it's illegal here, I envy your skills :)
It’s always a joy to watch the weekly video. When I see the condensation and ice on your windows I’m wondering if the windows has a single glass or if they are double. In Norway we had a pair of winter windows that we put inside into the window frame in the late autumn and then we didn’t have much condensation on the windows during winter. 😊
손재주가 천재입니다...캐나다 숲속에도 봄이 오고 있겠지요?이곳 대한민국에도 꽃이피는 봄이 찾아 왔습니다.건강 하시고 가내 행복 하시길 기원드립니다.
As I told your daughter, Emily, this cabin is a mansion! Nice stairs to the root cellar and I guess you will put some side rails for going down later....thanks for showing Cali doing her retrieving...:)
For some reason I have been wanting this video more than any other since the root cellar was closed in. This was extremely satisfying, thanks Shawn!
Im so happy to see Callie is still hale and hearty. Like all of us, we are getting older and slower. She is such a wonderful, faithful companion to you, and visa versa. I just love her. Your home is becoming such a comfortable refuge for you and Callie. How you have built this from the ground up is amazing. You should be proud. It may be a good idea to take some personal time. You just keep working hard.
I hope you are taking care of yourself and Callie, and she is keeping well? God Bless.
Who'd have thought this Spring you'd be adding the finishing touches to the the interior of your hand built log homestead Sir!!!!
What an absolute work of art from start rj finish @Shawn. I hope you are as immensely proud of your accomplishment as I and so many thousands of people around the world, are of you and that spirit of self determination you exhibit. From Australia with much love & prayers: for a life most pleasing to our CREATOR .🇦🇺🤗💞🙏✌️👍👏🇨🇦
I've been waiting for a new video for a week, and now I'm watching the video of building your log house for the first time 5 years ago! The house is getting more and more beautiful as you add furniture one by one~^^"
You are indeed a master builder! This cabin is a work of art!
Sudbury, Canadian old-timer here, less than 4 hours North of this fantastic cabin project. Been watching for years, first suspicion was that Cali had a mechanical device implanted to keep his tail wagging without pause, the second impression was an urgent need to learn to cook after watching the delicious plates being prepared. This channel could easily pass as a cooking show.:& maybe also as on-line Relax Therapy.
Yesterday my goal was to have love and compassion for all I encountered, in person and in thought. Today my goal is the same for myself. Relaxing and thoroughly enjoying this video are a wonderful start to my day. Thank you Team Shawn and Cali. 👍🇨🇦😎🙏🐾🔥
Shawn, very well done. You have finally got yourself a stairs to your cellar. Congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hi Shawn, I look to most days on you to see what you are up to and it amazes me how much you have done, working as a one-man worker, making everything out of the forest is a great achievement and the last homestead was beautiful like this home now so lovely. stay safe my friend.
The basement is under-rated and is one of the best and most practical features of the build. Dick Proenekke is smiling with pride in his protege.
Stunning results. Cabin has morphed into a beautiful home.
Can’t wait to see how the outdoors kitchen & bedroom extension look too. 👏
The cabin is beautiful and very homey. You have done an amazing job. This one is so much bigger than the first one. You are an amazing person. God bless you and your family.☺️
Podoba mi się Twoja praca i jej efekty.Pozdrawiam z Polski

I am truly amazed and impressed by how much you have accomplished in the short time you have been building your cabin. It truly is a beautiful home and I can’t wait to see you begin building your outdoor kitchen.
Bricks on the floor in the cellar would stop tracking sand up stairs. Your home is amazing!!!❤❤❤
I was thinking the same! Why didn't he finished the floor and the walls in the basement first!? Definitely going to bring dirt into the cabin!
I suspect that he'll frame in a floor at some point.
Open earth floor is best for cold and especially the humidity needed
Calli is just the sweetest girl. SND the cabin looks so cozy. Shawn, you are incredible.
Hello ! I m in France . I see you from some days. Your house is wonderful, and your dog too.Thank you for your beautiful vidéos
I love what you did for the stairs and ice box. Cali snoring reminded me of my dog Sadie. So wShing the chat is next finishing the cellar? Greenhouse will start as well plus the maple syrup season. Busy time for you.😁
Rustic, but never crude. Thoughtful design, skillful craftmanship.
been watching for years, it has really come along beautifully.
Its hard to believe, you build all this up with your own hands. Incredible nice work, Shawn!
Your Wife will be able to go down stairs now when she comes home. Thanks for sharing with us. God bless.
Good Friday Shawn & Cali🐕!
Your log cabin looks marvelous, warm and like the cosy home.
👍🌅🏔️🏡🛠️
Your house is looking really good and cosy, Shawn! You've done an amazing job. I am in admiration of all the things you can do.
